Summary: Excellent book, great series, I can't wait for the next one!
Review: "The Defiant Hero" kept me up way past my bedtime because I couldn't put it down! I love the characters in this series (I've also read "The Unsung Hero"). Brockmann's subplots are as riveting as her main plots. I definitely would recommend this book to anyone, but I'm not going to give away my copy because I intend to read it again (and maybe again, and again).

Summary: ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS
Review: After you read a book as well written as this one, it ruins you for others a long time to come. Suzanne Brockmann has several interesting characters in this modern day novel, each very differant from the other. I've not been a fan of contemporary novels in the past, but after reading-- The Defiant Hero, I'm hooked. It's got action, romance galore, and some of the most endearing characters. Enjoy!

Summary: Love Story times 2.5
Review: Defiant Hero is more than a love story. It's two love stories in one. I enjoyed the present day adventures of Meg and John, but was even more amazed to find a WWII love story sprinkled throughout the plot that was endearing, thrilling, and actually brought me to tears. As if that's not enough, the sparking antics of secondary characters (FBI agent Locke and Navy SEAL Starrett) was another bonus. I can't wait for their book!
I stongly disagree with the other reviewer who wrote that it was a waste of money and time. I'm glad I took the chance: It was like having two novels and a sneak-peak at a third all in one book! Brockmann does a great job weaving it all together and effectively touching on the differences between life and love in the 40's versus the same in the 90's. The only suggestion I'd make is to change the title to Defiant Heroes! (Plural) Ralph-pronounced Rafe-deserves some credit on the title!:)

Summary: Nobody does it better than Suzanne Brockmann!
Review: Does it get any better than The Defiant Hero? I don't think so, but I can't wait for the next installment of SEAL Team Sixteen for Ms. Brockmann to prove me wrong! Her latest hero Lt. John Nilsson is called upon to negotiate a hostage situation and finds himself face to face with a woman from his past. If only this desperate single mother would trust him enough to put her life in his capable hands...but of course she can't. These two main characters have a lot of issues to work through on the way to rescuing Meg's daughter and grandmother that kept me turning pages. The secondary characters are equally riviting with a heartwarming WWII love story told in flashback by the captive grandmother to her grandaughter and one of their guards. And as if that weren't enough there's also a hot romance kindled between Sam from Nils' Team and Alyssa the FBI agent--I want more!

Summary: My first Brockmann and I'm in awe!
Review: I had never read a book by Suzanne Brockmann before and now I can't understand why I never picked one up before now. I finished this book on a Sunday and I didn't do anything else but read this book. I can't remember the last time a book has left me speachless. The Navy SEALS in this book talk the way real military men talk, and I love the realism. I loved that there were three stories going on in one book, and it didn't detract from the main plot at all. I look forward to reading more about Alyssa and Sam - they were an incredible pair! I can tell this is a book I will reread again, and I'm not usually one to reread a book. I highly recommend this book.

Summary: This book has everything!!!
Review: I have to say that I felt that the book was a little hard to follow due to several plot lines. However, the action and emotions evoked throughout more than made up for that. There is so much going on with Sam and Alyssa that I can't wait to read about them in the next SEAL installment. I was driving myself crazy to finish the book beacause I really felt for the characters. Ms. Brockmann can really make the reader feel the emotions of the characters so it's as if you are in the middle of all the action. It's truly remarkable when a writer can evoke one's imagination in that manner. I sincerely think this book would make a wonderful movie and would give Tom Clancy a run for his money. There is action, romance, and everything in between. Men and women alike would enjoy seeing this at the movies.

Summary: Great read
Review: I like this book. The only problem I had was that it was not realistic. Ok, fiction is suppose to go out on a limb occasionally and I can accept that. But when you're dealing with the government in a hostage situation, I seriously doubt that they might look the other way. However, as far as romance and suspense goes this book is a 5 star story. Meg's young daughter and grandmother have been taken by terrorists. They want her to kill a rival terrorist if she wants to see her family again. Meg will do anything for her family and that includes killing someone. Enter Navy Seal John Nilsson. John has been in love with Meg for a long time but couldn't have her. He hasn't seen her in years and suddenly he gets a call that Meg has hostages at the embassy and she is asking for him personally. Great fun watching them get out of this mess. Enjoy.

Summary: Wow I loved THE UNSUNG HERO - This is excellent too
Review: I loved THE UNSUNG HERO and I loved this one two..I have done nothing much for two days but read these books and can't wait for the next installment.. many years ago I read her Navy Seals Tall, Dark & Dangerous series.. and thoroughly enjoyed it. These books are better. I love the 3 entwined stories.. I also hope the Tom finally gets his wish and marries the woman he loves. Her stories are believable.. also I love the fact that the woman in her books are not frightened off by the fact that their men are in a dangerous field.. and could loose their lives. Often books about men with dangerous jobs the woman have issues about what they do.. and they often have to give up their proffession to get the girl. GREAT.. BELIEVEBLE HER BOOKS ARE ON MY KEEPER SHELF... Thank you for a truely entertaining couple of days.. I hope that when I receive her others I have as much fun and I have had in the last couple of days.

Summary: It's Sam & Alyssa's show
Review: I really disliked this book. If it wasn't for Sam & Alyssa's story, the one "true saving grace" of this tired-awful book, I would have given it 1 star.

The plot: Meg's ten year old daughter and grandmother are kidnapped by terrorists. They threaten to kill Meg's daughter and grandmother if she doesn't comply with their wishes. They want her to kill or bring them one of their extremist opposers. She kidnaps this guy and decides to turn him in to the terrorists or kill him herself.

Completely unbelievable. This small, slight woman is able to drug and drag around a grown man? NOT!! Plus, Meg doesn't care who she kills or hurts to get her daughter back. It was terrible. It gave her some rather unlikable character traits. I found myself not caring what happened to Meg, her grandmother or her daughter. She is completely unpatriotic. I could not figure out what John found so attractive about her. He's a Navy Seal. This is a man who puts his life on the line for his country. Would he really want to be with a woman who is completely nuts? I don't think so.

Plus the World War II story was a drag. Why bother? It was a waste of time and paper. Both Ms. Brockmann's and myself.

I find myself wondering what the hype is about Suzanne Brockmann. I have read four of the Seal Team 16 books, or rather tortured myself to read them. I later realize it is because I am trying to find out more about Sam & Alyssa's history. I first learned about them in "Wildcart Karmody's" story and have been reading the books in reverse sequential order to discover more about them. I have ordered Sam & Alyssa's story and truly believe that this will be my last Suzanne Brockmann book. Her love scenes are drab, her plots disjointed and with three to four storylines running consecutively, usually just plain confusing.

Suzanne, I'm truly disappointed.

Summary: ANOTHER GOOD ONE!!!
Review: I've read most of Ms. Brockmann's books (Heartthrob, Bodyguard, etc.) and have to admit I've enjoyed them all. This one is a little wordy in the beginning while she introduces you to characters who appeared in The Unsung Hero (****), but then it takes off. I would read The Unsung Hero first so that you are familiar with the great characters Ms. Brockmann has created for her SEAL series. This book is unique in that we have two and one-half love stories going at the same time. It works!! The one-half is to be continued in her next book which I will definitely order. The Defiant Hero is sure to entertain you. Plus, it's the older woman/younger man scenario. Being an older woman, I LOVE IT! I've just started "Going Overboard" by Christine Skye, which also involves a hunky SEAL (although I think this story is going to be lighter than Brockmann's), so if you have a thing for the strong macho type, you might want to check it out.
