Rating: Summary: Indepth Intrigue? No. Fun easy read? Yes... Joe. Review: Ms. Foster returns with another Winston novel, this time about the cousin of the four sexy brothers from the books, "The Winston Brothers" and "Wild", the latter book being where the hero and heroine of this book make their debut. Although one character from "The WB" book appears early on in the book, and references are made to the other cousins & their wives, Ms. Foster does NOT bog you down with these other characters. Instead, the book takes place in a whole new settings, with new supporting characters, which is refreshing. The hero, Joe Winston, is a 30-something, tall, gorgeous, women-magnet (He is a Winston afterall!) and a former police officer-turned-bounty-hunter/bodyguard. The heroine is Luna, a woman who previously said "No" in a rather forceful way to Joe's advances, returns to ask for his help and expertise as a bodyguard. Luna is now the guardian of two orphaned cousins and is moving out-of-state to care for the kids, who are apparently in serious trouble in a small town. The bad guys and/or gals are pretty easy to identify, so don't read this book if you are looking for a challenging who-done-it? The suspense is really a mild form of "when will they show up and what will happen then?" It's more of an easy read about two single people who think they know each other... with neither being too sure about their own capabilities as adult mentors/guardians to some kids... but both finding out they enjoy learning otherwise.
Rating: Summary: Another Great Lori Foster Romance! Review: Read all the other reviews--they are all on target about this book! I won't repeat everything they've said. It's a great "read in a day or two", fun romance with a little suspense thrown in. The only thing I would add is that the ending is a bit rushed and there is not really any suspense as to the outcome--you can guess who the bad guy is early in the book. That's the only reason I didn't rate it 5 stars. But, the ending doesn't ruin the book. The opposite--it whets the appetite at the end for future stories with the secondary characters! To me, Lori Foster writes books that have interesting, engaging characters you enjoy reading about. Her books are fun to read no matter what the storyline is.
Rating: Summary: A big "No-no" Review: Say No To Joe? is decidedly darker than Lori Foster's usual fare with its underlying theme of dysfunctional families and scarred childhood. Ex-bounty hunter Joe Winston has the hots for psyhic assistant Luna Clark. He is so infatuated as to follow her to Visitation, N.C to attend to her cousin Chloe's children after her demise. Joe Winston is the cheeky bleedheart who suddenly morphs into a prescribedly possessive and fiercely protective family man. Even Luna has problems believing the startling transformation. Ms. Foster sculpts heartening characters as usual in Willow and Austin but the plot sinks into a cheesy melodramatic mode with a flat-out mystery, abrupt character changes and an overblown shoot-out that completely drowns the romance element. This follow-up to Ms. Foster's successful series attempts too hard to be serious - a deviation from the scintillating formulaic entertainment that we derived from the other Winston brothers' romance. There isn't the reassuring heartwarming touch and emotional anchor that marks Ms. Foster's efforts. It is sketchy at best. Say No To Joe? It turns out I may have to pass on this one.
Rating: Summary: Just Say "No" to this Bland Story Review: Sexy bad boy Joe Winston avoids commitment at all costs, but still has women lining up to take a tumble in his bed. All except the one woman he wants in his bed. Luna Clark, a psychic assistant, is most definitely attracted to Joe, but she refuses to be just another notch on his well-notched bedpost. Now she's accepted responsibility for two distantly related teenagers, who after their mother died, have no one else. Luna plans to move to the small town where the kids live, but the people of the community are against the kids, so she asks Joe to accompany her to set the interfering townspeople straight. Joe figures spending a lot of time with Luna will convince her to quit resisting his advances, and he can finally scratch the itch he's had for her since their first meeting. I hadn't heard of Lori Foster before picking up this book, and I did so based on the description on the back cover. I was expecting a highly entertaining romantic comedy with a description like: "Joe Winston has a routine with women; he exists; they swoon; roll credits." With a back cover that funny, it made since the book would be great. Right? Wrong! I made it to page eighty-seven and couldn't stand to read any more. The characters were one-dimensional caricatures and the writing was awkward. I will admit some of it was funny, but it just wasn't enough to make the story interesting. There was no depth, and by that point in a book, I expect more in-depth characters. Plus, the sexual attraction between Joe and Luna was overdone. All I kept reading was how much he wanted her, and how much she wanted him, he tries to get in her pants, and she just keeps saying no. Over and over and over! I really didn't care what happened to any of the characters. I did skim through to find the first scene where they finally "get together", and even that was rather dull and disappointing. Save yourself the torture and skip this one!
Rating: Summary: SAY NO TO JOE? Why Would I? Review: The title says it all. SAY NO TO JOE? Yeah, that's what this reviewer wondered as she settled in to read. Who COULD say no? Well, Apparently, Luna Clark is the holdout in this, the latest work by Lori Foster that continues the series featuring the Winston Brothers. But it's romance so, never fear, readers! Joe Winston is the cousin of the 4 Winston Brothers, and though he's been a loner, never relying on anyone, women in particular, he's got his work cut out for him when he sets his sights on Luna Clark, a friend of his cousin's new wife. He thinks that if he can get Luna in his bed, he'll get her OUT of his system...but that never happens, does it? No. Luna finds herself out of her element. She's a free spirit, the bohemian type, but when she learns that two young orphaned relatives are in need of a guardian, she agrees to go to the children. But she enlists Joe's help to protect them as there have been incidences threatening the children that can't be ignored. Joe readily agrees. Not only is he outraged that anyone would dare frighten kids, but he needs to get out of town anyway; his last job as a bounty hunter, tracking a bad guy is still open ended. He was beaten within an inch of his life and he needs a place to fully recover. What better place than out of state, away from danger, but keeping an eye on Luna's two young charges, and keeping a close eye on the object of his lusty desires, Luna herself? The story is intricately woven with subplots, and each page turn is like another piece of the puzzle, fitting together and making sense out of the teasing elements throughout. Readers may see a deeper, more sensitive Joe Winston than the one that was introduced in ZANE, Ms. Foster's most recently penned novel in that series. But if this hero didn't possess the protective instincts and have a heart that could be softened by a child's smile, or a sassy love interest, then he wouldn't BE a Lori Foster hero. Family, loyalty, and honor are what readers have come to associate with this author, and she never disappoints. SAY NO TO JOE? is no exception. SAY NO TO JOE? is filled with love, laughter, suspense, and sensuality. Add to that, many new characters are introduced in this twisting, fun turning tale. This reviewer will be waiting for updates and watching for news of release dates for them.
Rating: Summary: Give me more Lori!!!!! Review: This book was an awesome book, the plot, lead characters, and secondary people were all great. I've read this book twice since it first was released. Can't wait for her next book.
Rating: Summary: Hot Sexy and Humorous Review: This is a really fun book! I really like Lori Foster's writing. She writes for a mature audience and her characters are pretty well developed. And if you're looking for hot romance, this will not disappoint. Luna is a smart, tough cookie and no push-over. She is obviously attracted to Joe, but she takes her time making sure he is simply good enough for her. I like women like this. Sexually aware, but not slutty. And not some wide-eyed virgin either looking for the hot stud to teach her a thing or two. Gag. These are two hot, smart adults who get themselves in some interesting situations. Joe is a sexy dude with a great heart. They are both really funny too. I do not think you will be disappointed in this book at all. I've read it more than once!
Rating: Summary: A Great Romantic Story about finding your true love. Review: This is by far the best book I have read. It has raw passion and is more than intriging, it keeps you moving at such a fast past hilarious pase, I was laughing out loud at quite a few different parts. You fall in love with the characters on the first page. Luna with her care free attitude and Joe with his bachelor ways who can't explain this over powering feelings he has for Luna who really hasn't given him any indication that she likes him. I feel in love with Joe and Luna, I want to meet a guy like Joe and I want to be a care free easy spirit moon godess that Luna is. It's a fantastic book filled with love, passion, and immense sexual feelings. It's amazing how the Willow and Alex fall in love with the Joe, and Luna. That's how you always wish life could be. The story may be a little far fetched in that way, of how quickly the kids come around, but isn't that the point of reading books? To come out of your normal everyday life to experience something different. I love a happy ending and this book definitely has one. I hope Lori Foster decides to make a second of Joe and Luna, because I would emmensily happy with it. Just to be able to see how things are going with the lake and hopefuly see that Joe and Luna will possibly have a baby of their own soon. I highly recommend this book to anyone willing to take a trip from everyday life.
Rating: Summary: Pleasant Surprise Review: This is the 4th Lori Foster I've read and have to say it was by far the best. It contains a much better storyline and because of its length, the romance didn't seem so rushed. I don't normally like stories with children as they are portrayed as either too cute for words or totally obnoxious. However, in this case, Austin and Willow were great additions. One of the readers seemed to feel this book slanted towards the dark -- I totally disagree and can't imagine what part(s) they would have been thinking of to arrive at this opinion. I would highly recommend Say No to Joe as a book to just kick back and enjoy.
Rating: Summary: I Would Not Say No To Joe Review: This is the first book by Lori Foster I read, I really enjoyed this book. Reading this book, I don't think I could have said no to Joe. Though Luna wanted Joe but she thought of her little cousins first, they needed someone to take care of them she wanted to do it but she knew it wouldn't be easy. I loved Willow, and her brother Austin. This was a such a cute story I loved every min of it. Happy Reading Lisa
