Rating: Summary: Portrait in Death Review: After writing so many books in this series, I was wondering whether Nora Roberts could come up with any more new ideas. Rest assured, she did. The murders are a little standard, but the relationships between characters becomes deeper and much more interesting, especially between Eve and Roarke. In fact, I think this is her best book yet!
Rating: Summary: Darling Eve Review: This is the most well rounded of the "In Death" series. Roarke doesn't come running to Dallas' aid, nurturing her and taking care of her, Darling Eve is the one who shows her love in actions and words, and makes Roarke's world balanced. The scene in Ireland, when he watches her get off the jet copter, walk towards him, and sets his world right, by holding him in her arms, is precious. I have re-read the 1 1/2 pages in this section every night, for the last month. It truly details the love they have for each other. I can picture the scene in my mind and it fills me with joy for them. Nora Roberts has really outdone herslf this time.
Rating: Summary: Portrait In Death Review: As usual J.D. Robb has done a superb job. Eve Dallas, NYPD, is ever bit the cop woman. She is rough, but gentle quite a contradiction.Only J.D. Robb could pull that act off. Learning to balance the life of a cop who stands in for the dead and the life as a wife to the wealthy, steely, but oh so good-looking Roarke is quite a juggling act. There again, only with J. D.Robb could this be done. The book,"Portrait In Death" holds the reader spell bound and wanting more. J. D. not only holds her audience captive and spell bound but alwo delievers a story that is well researched. I have the entire Death series and this book is just as fantastic as the first. Eve and Roarke have come along way! These characters along with all the others in the book are so real and alive. When you finish the book it is with sadness that you must leave these characters that have indeed become your family and friends. As an avid reader and a teacher, my hat is off th you, J.D. Robb. Please hurry with more death series books. I can't wait to get back to my friends!
Rating: Summary: Portrait in Death Review: This book is exciting and keeps you on the edge of your seat. I had trouble putting it down. It keeps you captivated with murder, and suspense. It is fun trying to figure out who the murderer is. Then you find out at the end that your wrong about who you think it is. The murderer is usually someone you would never have suspected. That is what I love about this book.
Rating: Summary: Amazingly Sexy and Adventurous Review: It's truly amazing how Ms. Roberts can put action and romance into the same book, but because she managed to do such a thing, she has made 17 book series explaining two cops in love and the adventures they go through. PS: J.R. Robb is my real name! Waiting for 'Imatation In Death' will be hard for me.
Rating: Summary: RIVETING Review: This book was great. The characters continue to develop and more information is developed regarding Roarke's past. I love this series and can't wait for the next book. JD Robb is not writing them quickly enough.
Rating: Summary: Literary potato chips Review: As with the other books in the series, the latest is the literary equivalent of potato chips - not very substantial, but very addictive - and hard to put down. As usual, the minor characters are as much fun to read about as the major ones, and the plot is almost incidental compared to their interactions. The humor is sharp and character-driven. My only quibble, as with all the books in the series, is that the love scenes are definitely written by a romance writer. But I just skim past them, so this is a minor quibble.
Rating: Summary: Wonderful Futuristic Series Review: J.D. Robb (Nora Roberts) definitely does not disappoint with this installment in her futuristic series. Roarke seems to become more understandable as the reader learns more about his past. Eve Dallas is a great character - a strong woman other women can relate to. Robb's futuristic New York seems very believable. As always, the secondary characters do not disappoint. Great read.
Rating: Summary: Not up to her usual standard Review: I love the In Death series, I have them all and have read them dozens of times each. While I enjoyed the book, it didn't have some of the depth I have come to expect and some of the characters just weren't acting normal. Roarke does not fall apart when the people he loves get hurt. His reaction at the beginning of the book (even before finding out the new information on his background) didn't seem consistent with the Roarke we all know and love. The mystery itself was a bit pat and again seemed closer to a fan-fic rather than the pure excellence we all expect. It was a nice filler book, and the information will help build on the stories in the future. I wouldn't recommend reading this first if you have never read any of the series. Read any of the others first.
Rating: Summary: An Enjoyable Read! Review: I was getting bored with the repetativeness of the "In Death" series, so I was happily surprised to read this one. "Portait" focuses more on Roark and Eve's relationship and Roark's past. Nora has finally given both characters more maturity. Nice to know Roark isn't a "superMAN" and Eve can be as compassionate to the living as she is to the dead. For those of you about to give up on the series, I recommend you read this to renew your faith.
