Rating: Summary: Great Read Review: This is the 1st time I have read Jane Green, and look forward to reading her other books. Mr. Maybe is a close description of my history with men, and I LOVE it! Jane Green is a very entertaining writer and has an elegant way of describing the life of single women in this book! If you enjoy a witty romance novel with a touch of erotica, then this is a book to read!
Rating: Summary: Seriously awesome! Review: I'm not the type of person to normally sit down and pick up a book, but this book was well worth it! This is not a predictable book if you like fun, light, laugh out loud reading. This book was well written and was very true to life. I love it and would reccommend this to anyone who likes a good fun romantic comedy!!!!, (Oh, and Jemima J was equally as good!)
Rating: Summary: GREAT READ! Review: Mr. Maybe is a great read!! It's simple, funny and a good escape to everyday life. I highly reccommend it! My only gripe is that the back cover tells the entire story. What it says on the back doesn't happen until page 300! I was very disappointed. So, when you read it - don't read the back! Trust the reviews - it's worth your time to read!
Rating: Summary: Mr. Maybe Review: I must admit, I love a good romantic comedy and 'MR. MAYBE' by Jane Green has all of the ingredients to, in my opinion, make it a five star book! It is the story of Libby Mason a twenty-seven year old PR executive, who is looking for a Mr. Right who is handsome, has a good personality (although that goes without saying), and most of all is rich. Instead she meets Nick, a gorgeous writer, who makes her laugh, is fantastic in bed and very affectionate but who is also out of work, lives on government assistance, and is allergic to commitment. Despite all of this Libby is crushed when things don't work out between her and Nick. But after a night on the town with best friend Jules, Libby meets Ed one of England's most eligible bachelors, according to a very popular London magazine, who just so happens to be an extremely wealthy investment banker and dotes on Libby in every way. Unfortunately Ed is ten years older than Libby and much too "straight" for her, has a hideous mustache, and is awful in bed. It is lots of fun watching Libby trying to sort out her feelings for Nick who "is not ready for a serious commitment" and Ed who is looking to mold her into the perfect wife, while giving her everything she could ask for in the process.'MR. MAYBE' is an incredibly fun story with a great cast of characters from Jules, Libby's very down to earth best friend to Amanda Baker a wannabe famous, social climbing, TV presenter. All in all I would highly recommend 'MR. MAYBE' to anyone looking for a fun, fast read for a day at the beach. This was the first Jane Green novel that I've read but it certainly will not be the last!
Rating: Summary: Disappointing...spoilers here... Review: After reading "Jemima J." I was looking forward to "Mr. Maybe". Unfortunately, this book is nowhere near as riveting as JJ was for me...none of the characters resonated, and I felt no sympathy for any of them. Mr. Maybe was a VERY predictable read - I had no problem figuring out what was going to happen: that the heroine would end up with the gorgeous hunk in the end; that the rich fiancee would hook up with the TV presenter who admired him; that the girlfriend and her husband would break up...etc. etc. C'mon, Ms. Green, "Jemima J" showed us you could do better than THIS. Not even worth a second read IMO.
Rating: Summary: Very funny! Review: This book cracked me up! I thoroughly enjoyed it although it was a bit over the top.
Rating: Summary: Good, but not her best. Review: I've read all of Jane Green's books up to this point and this is the book I remember the least. I loved Jemima J and Bookends and can remember ever detail. This book did not have the same effect with me. I still think its an excellent read and a truly amazing book but definately not her most powerful.
Rating: Summary: Follow Your Heart Review: I decided to read Jane Green's Mr. Maybe because I wanted a light-hearted and funny book, and I got what I hoped for. It is a descriptive and easy to read novel that will make you laugh and cry. Green uses very little figurative language, but she does use similes and metaphors to effectively show the reader what is happening, and her use of dialogue makes the characters seem alive and real. Mr. Maybe is about Libby, a woman in her late 20s trying to find a decent man. She dates Nick, but considers him a fling because he does not have much money. When she begins dating Ed, she tries to convince herself she loves him; he is wealthy and is able to offer her everything she wants, but she does not enjoy being with him. With the help of her family and friends, she has to decide whether she should marry Ed or be with Nick. The theme of this novel is following your heart. While Ed would have been able to offer Libby all the material things she wanted, she was in love with Nick. She could only deny her feelings for a short time before she realized she was happier with Nick, even though he was not wealthy.
Rating: Summary: makes you re-evaluate what you a looking for in life.... Review: This was the first one of Jane Green's books that i have read, and i loved it! although, it was only given 4 stars, it was because there were some things missing in it...but otherwise an excellent read, quick. Makes you realize that money isn't everything, and to just go with the flow of things when it comes down to it....This is a must read!
Rating: Summary: money isn't everything Review: I loved this book and read it really quickly. It has the same freshness as Jemima J. Even though it's only a book, it just goes to prove that money isn't everything. I'd recommend this book to anyone who likes reading about the whole dating world of 20 and 30 somethings.
