Summary: A Funny Yet Predictable Novel
Review: This was a good book and yes it is pedictable but it is so much fun you forgive the author for not throwing in many plot twists and turns. The main character Libby decides that she doesn't want to have a relationship she just wants a fling, because if guys can do it so easily why can't she, but then she meets Nick. He is everything she wants gorgeous, good kisser, even better in bed, but then she sees his bedsit, his friends, and his income and is not sure this is right for her. Then she meets Ed who is the complete opposite of Nick, rich, powerful, lovely friends, not that cute, messy kisser, and lousy in bed. There is no surprise in how the book ends but the book is so fun and funny that I would recommend it to anyone who wants something to read for a day at the pool or beach.

Summary: Great summer novel!!!
Review: I really liked Green's first book; I have passed it on to many people. But I did not anticipate how much I would like this one. It was a great fun read. Anyone can understand Libby struggles with family, friends, and choices. This is a great book; I have already passed this one on too!!!

Summary: oh boo, hoo hoo...
Review: poor libby, she's a career girl who wants to be rich but is too lazy and lacks ambition to make a fortune on her own, so what does she do? she decides to marry rich. but not before she has a fling with a broke writer who's a hunk, whch makes you wonder if he's so fine, shouldn't he be a gap model instead of a writer? you have to give ms. green credit, lots of beautiful people in the story. even the poor boy is beautiful. of course the rich guy is an ugly fuddy duddy, but he treats her well, which libby can't handle, which makes me wonder if women really do want a nice guy or do they show love more when they are crapped on..plus libby is sooooooo shallow and self centered, it makes the story toxic. she uses the rich guy even though she know it's wrong only for her own selfish interests, and even when she comes to her "senses," it's not convincing. and what's ironic about it is. there are porbably many women out there like libby who have no morals or scruples who marry for money, who have mothers who put them up to it, cos they want them to have the best... my nominee for the golden shovel award of the worst book i ever read...

Summary: So real.
Review: As a twenty-something single, myself, this book rang incredibly true. Many comedic books are happy-go-lucky, and end up just the way you expect.

This book has the ability to keep you guessing, laughing, and enjoying this story until the last minute. I could not put it down, and I thoroughly enjoyed the trials and tribulations that Libby encountered. I enjoyed them, because, they helped me understand my own past and present, better!

Yep, this book actually has value. It is also incredibly fun, funny, and just plain enjoyable.

You wont regret this purchase!

Summary: Ab Fab!
Review: I wasn't sure if I really wanted to read this one after having read Jemima J last year (see my review of that for the scoop) but am I so very very glad I did read Mr. Maybe. What a wonderful book!! Jane Green knows what the singleton life is all about!! I am very happily married now, but I can remember just a few years back when I was single going through the exact same things that Libby was going through. Jane Green captures the single twenty-something life and all that goes along with it perfectly. There is never a dull moment in the book - such an enchanting read.

Summary: Mr. Maybe
Review: This new novel of British Author Jane Green is deliciously hilarious as it narrates the major changing events of Libby. A neurotic tale of all women's psychoses, as they enter each relationship with the hope of it being The One, and finding out what they are really looking for. A very funny, yet tragically truthful story of searching for love in today's world of insecurities and aspirations.

Summary: ~Could be a perfect 10 "stars", or guy for that matter!
Review: Ok, yes, I'm ready to admit it...I'm totally addicted to British Singleton Fiction, and this one rates right up there with the best. If you're a fan of the "Better Than Bridget Jones" British fiction that seems to be taking the US by storm, buy this book. In fact, have them next-day-air it to you. I absolutely loved it. Before I knew it, I was 100 pages into it, and even though it was way to late to still be up, I didn't give it a second thought, and I continued to read into the story was over. And boy was I disappointed~but not in the book~it was wonderful, fabulous, awesome!!! I wanted the boy to go on and on! I wanted Libby to be my best friend and Nick to be MY boyfriend. I acutally cried when Libby and Nick broke up! The ending was great as well.... well what can I say, you'll just have to read it!!! Remember...NEXT DAY AIR is not too soon for this one! And by the way, "Good in Bed" and "Confessions of a Shopaholic" are equally great! Buy them too!

Summary: very good romantic comedy
Review: OK, OK, I admit it...I really enjoyed this book! I believe in the small, guilty, self-indulgent pleasures in life: and this kind of book is exactly what the doctor prescribed! Of course, one rule-of-thumb about these books is not to compare them to other types of books. If you do, it's just like comparing an Ingmar Bergman or a Fellini movie to the latest action movie. There's just no comparison. So I give "Mr.Maybe" 4 stars, having compared to to other romantic-comedy-type books.

"Mr. Maybe" is actually a very good example of this Bridget-Jones genre (yes, the "Bridget-Jones" tag seems to have stuck permanently to these books). Libby is a twenty-something single woman living in London. This probably applies to 99,999% of the heroines in these books. What puts the book in the "good" category is the fact that the romance seems to work well. Romantic comedies have to be a) romantic & b) funny, at least at times. As for a)--Libby & Nick's romance works well. And as for b)--well...I guess the relationship between Libby & Ed has to be one of the stupidest & most pointless romances (if you could even call it that) that I've read about recently, so...that would make it funny!

Anyway, to make a long story short: Read "Mr.Maybe" without being cynical or critical. Read it at the beach. Read it on a long flight home. Read it anytime you feel you need something light to lift your spirit.

Summary: Yawn
Review: Very mediocre. Heroine is quite deluded, to the point that her plight eventually becomes obnoxious and annoying - not to mention dull. Absolutely no suprises ensued - you could see the plot "twists" (and i use that word loosely) coming from a mile away. Displays an incredible lack of imagination - this would NEVER have been published had it not been for Bridget Jones' success.
