Rating: Summary: Loved it Review: I thought this book was terrific. Predictable? Maybe. But all of the antics were entertaining nonetheless!
Rating: Summary: Mr. Maybe is Mr. Right in my book! Review: In Mr. Maybe, British literary sensation Jane Green delivers another look at the life of an independent woman exploring the wilds of London's single life. Meet PR pro Libby Mason; she's young, beautiful, and incredibly competent when handling her celebrity clients -- mixing the right amount of firmness with handholding. But no one is holding her hand when it comes to romance; and if her mother doesn't stop nagging her about her love life, Libby may just have to go on another shopping spree. What's a girl to do? Have a fling, of course, with the most unsuitable man she can find. Enter Nick; an unemployed, incredibly good-looking writer and a legendary commitment phob. When what was supposed to have been a fling turns into love Libby finds herself dumped and back out on the dating scene. Enter Ed McMann; one of London's most eligible (and wealthiest) bachelors and also one of the most socially inept thirty-seven year olds Libby has ever met. Will she be able to trade in chemistry for Ed's platinum American Express and the unlimited "retail therapy" he offers? After a marriage proposal from Ed and a heart-to-heart with Nick, Libby knows that the time for "maybe" is up. Jane Green tells Libby's story withcharm and wit -- the reader can watch Libby mature from a confused girl looking for love into a mature woman looking for love on her own terms. The best part, though? Finding out sometimes Mr. Maybe can turn into Mr. Right after all.
Rating: Summary: Funny, light-hearted read Review: This is a PERFECT summer read ~~ light, fluffy and funny. When I read out excerpts of this book to my boyfriend, he laughed over it. It is such a dishy read!Libby is an aspiring woman who dreams of living in a fancy house, wearing designer duds, lunching at the coolest places in London, wining and dining, hobnobbing with the rich and famous ~~ but in her job as a public relations gal, it doesn't seem likely that her dreams would come true. Till she meets Ed, a successful financial investor ~~ and shows her a glimpse of the enticing world she has always dreamed of. Only to get cold feet as the day to start shopping for an engagement ring nears. Also, she cannot forget Nick, the last boyfriend she had before Ed ~~ the guy who is just perfect for her. This book is hilarious in some takes and a fast read. I highly recommend taking this book to the beach (or a camping trip like I did) and prepare for a fun afternoon enjoying a light-hearted read!!
Rating: Summary: Marry for Love or Money... Review: In *Mr. Maybe*, Jane Green has written a hilarious account of the single British chick search for love... or money... or both... Libby Mason is a successful PR staffer and is looking for love with the perfect, rich man. Instead, she meets up with Nick, the sexy writer living on the dole. Their intimacy heats up the pages, and all seems well, but the relationship ends when neither can readily commit to a relationship. Enter Ed McMahon, a famously rich and high society man who can give Libby anything and everything she could possibly want or need. All but love... Libby accepts Ed's proposal but spends most of her time trying to decide what she really wants: love or money... A fabulous read: also recommend Green's *Jemima J* and Jennifer Weiner's *Good in Bed*.

Rating: Summary: Sad that it's over Review: Jane Green is wonderful! Mr. Maybe is a great book for girls in love, out of love, or in the middle. A definate reconstruction on the traditional man/woman relationship. Green kept my attention throuhout the entire story, and I grew very attached of the characters. It made me want to live inside of Libby Mason's world. I recommend this book to everyone.
Rating: Summary: Bad sex and the city Review: I was mildly entertained by the first few pages, but after chapters of her lengthy roundabout thoughts on men, clothes and her dream house, the book began to sound more like a superficial teenager's diary. There's also something about her writing that makes reading this book tedious. It's fun to read about someone's honest inner thoughts, but when they sound like, oh, I don't know, something like this, the reader grows weary, know what I mean? It gets 2 gilded 24 karat stars.
Rating: Summary: Jane Green has a knack for novels!!!! Review: "Mr. Maybe was wonderful....or is excellent the word???? Libby is looking for love in all the wrong places.....and almost finds it. Nick was everything she was looking for...except he has no job. Ed...on the other hand....has lots of money but no sex appeal. Can a new-age woman find true happiness with an old-fashioned guy????? Afraid not!!!!!! Every woman deserves a Nick in her life at least once.
Rating: Summary: Mr. Maybe was Right for Me Review: I was in the mood for something light, something funny, and I found Mr. Maybe, and it was the perfect match. Jane Green's tale of a young woman in search of love in London (yes, we've read these before, but that doesn't take away from the fun) is amusing and entertaining. Libby, our heroine, meets Nick, a hunky commitmentphobe. They think they will have a little fling, but somehow, start to fall in love.... Nick really wasn't Mr. Right anyway, too poor, yucky friends, etc. So Libby hooks up with one of the wealthiest eligible bachelors around. Now there's Mr. Right, right? OK, not the most original plot, but the characters are a lot of fun. Libby talks to you as if you are her best friend, which makes the novel an enjoyable, breezy read. The supporting cast are all believable and no subplot takes away from the story at hand. If you are looking for some fun summer reading, look no more. This one is loads of fun. Enjoy
Rating: Summary: Disappointing Review: This book was a huge disappointment. After reading Jemima J, which I loved, I looked forward to reading this book. It was a big let-down. The heroine, Libby, is a shallow, superficial, self-absorbed human being and it's really difficult to care whether she lives happily-ever-after, or not. The other characters are wooden and the plot is predictable. Even the soft-porn sex couldn't spice this novel up. This book is 344 pages long and you could cut 200 of the pages and not miss a thing. Green is obviously a very talented writer; I hope her next effort (if there is one) is better.
