Rating: Summary: An enjoyable read! Review: there's enough of everything in this novel---humor, passion, and realistic human emotional obstacles. it's funny to witness how douglas loses self-control whenever he feels aroused with alex--and then promises to himself that next time, he would be better behave. its so cute :P
and alex is an absolute treasure. she's so naive about her own charms, its quite funny. the secondary characters are also fun to read.
this is one of ms. coulter's best. i admit im not one of her big fans since im disappointed with The Countess and The Duke. but with this story, i can say that she has redeemed herself in my eyes. lol ",)
Rating: Summary: MANNIFICENT! Review: This book is a work of ART..I LOVE it so much that I have read it five times already! I love Catherine Coulter.. This is a MUST BUY BOOK..
Rating: Summary: Wow!! Review: This book is a wow. It's the first book in Ms.Coulter's Bride Series and it gives me a lot of pleasure - a lot of sensuality. Sex scenes are explicitly yet beautifully written. I love Alexandra and Douglas. The core plot is how Douglas falls in love with his wrong bride. Georges Cadoudal's come-back and kidnapping of Alexandra as well as the mysterious Virgin Bride add excitements to the story. I love that The Virgin Bride remains an unsolved phenomenon throughout the story. Douglas' younger sister, Sinjun, brightens the story with her joyous personality. If you love this book, don't hesitate to buy all the sequels.
Rating: Summary: A delightful and lighthearted read! Review: This book is and has remained for four years, my favorite of all. The humor is laugh out loud funny and the more touching moments cause your heart to constrict in your chest! Dougless has a superior but harmless veiw of himslelf that causes him to lord his expertise in all areas of his life. You all but feel sorry for him because his monologs are so ridiculous. You can almost see Alex rolling her eyes. Alex on the other hand is quite sure of herself despite her sisters "throat aching" beauty. All she wants is a chance to prove she can be a good wife. What follows is undeniably the funniest words ever put on paper! I promise YOU WILL ENJOY!
Rating: Summary: Another gem from Catherine Coulter Review: This is my favorite of the Bride books. Alexandra is so sweet and persistent in her love for Douglas, you feel for her when he rejects her at first. Sinjun is a hoot, and Melissande is your typical air-headed princess-beauty thing, but she meets her match in Tony. I like the characters, and I liked the other Bride books as well.
Rating: Summary: BEST BOOK OF THE BRIDE SERIES Review: THIS IS NO UGLY DUCKLING BRIDE. THE SISTER MAY HAVE THE GOOD LUCKS BUT THIS SISTER HAD THE LOOKS AND THE ATTITUDE THAT MAKES THIS A FUN READ. I'M GLAD TO SEE IT OUT IN AUDIO SO I CAN LISTEN AGAIN AND AGAIN.
Rating: Summary: Absolutely Amazing Review: This is the first book I've ever read of Catherine Coulter and I could say that it's the best. I've read some of her other books but nothing could compare to this one. I just love Alexandra and Douglas Sherbrooke's story. I assure you that you'll love them too!
Rating: Summary: I Laughed... Review: This is the one book I talk about the most if only because I enjoy the looks on people's faces when I tell them about Douglas and Ryder's quarterly 'bastard meetings'. Douglas is the type of hero I'd like to throttle one minute and hug the next. I think that Alexandra handles him quite nicely until he comes to his senses at last and realizes that she is perfect for him. At first, I thought when she 'coshed' ( I love that word) Douglas in the head with the table that she had aimed too high. He TOTALLY deserved it and I'm glad she dished it out and didn't just fall at his feet. It came as no surprise to me that soon afterwards he seemed to understand that they belonged together. I guess she knocked some sense into him!
Rating: Summary: My personal favorite romance novel!! Review: This novel, the first in the "Bride Series" is, by far, the best of the lot. It was funny, had an air of suspense, and was truly an enjoyable book. I have re-read it several times. Coulter gives such rich details in her books, and makes you really see where it takes place. She adds humor to keep it going, which many romance novelists tend to avoid. This book is my personal gauge for judging all other romance books. ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL!!!
Rating: Summary: Not Too Bad... Review: This story was interesting, I suppose, but Douglas was a complete embecile. He was so mean to Alexandra; not just rude, but very insulting. He told her to her face how unattractive he found her. If this girl had any pride - or a spine - she'd have fled fast. Why exactly did he end up falling in love with Alexandra? Nothing seemed to have changed in the story. And God only knows what she saw in him; it certainly wasn't kindness.
