Rating: Summary: Boring! Review: I haven't yet figured out why she felt the need to split up Amanda and Amelia's stories. They might have made a good book if put together. But this book was just plain boring. Way too much emphasis placed on the characters' relationship. I like a good bedroom scene as much as anyone but there were just way too many. The plot really fizzled at the end and I had trouble even finishing it. Not up to the past standard of Stephanie Lauren stories.
Rating: Summary: no plot Review: I am a major Stephanie Laurens fan. I have enjoyed her books becuase there generally character development, and a plot in addition to romance elements. I have been happy with the strong heroines and heroes that are good men. I particularly enjoyed the earlier Cynster books. This one has no plot. It is just sex that becomes repetitive and boring. I am embarrased to say that I rushed out to buy this book.
Rating: Summary: Disappointing... Review: Stephanie Laurens's books are in general pretty good, and this one not bad, but I was hoping for better after A Wild Night. As in All About Passion, I think that she is relying too heavily on the characters' relationship inside the bedroom rather than the one outside the bedroom. We are told that they have known each other forever, but I didn't get that feel. The drama at the end helped, but I think you could easily get rid of 1/2 the 'does he/she love me' angst and some of the bedroom scenes and have a better book.
Rating: Summary: Not up to what I have come to expect :-( Review: Oh I was soooo looking forward to the newest Cynster novel, but I could hardly finish the book. Sure it had the usual "sex" scenes, but what NOT at all a good reader. She has written better, much better!!!! I feel that this book was written in haste and the time was not taken to develop the plot adequately. I really disliked this book. Definitely the worst I've read from this author, hopefully they will get better again from here, if not, Ms. Laurens will lose at least one reader, ME!
Rating: Summary: A Good Cynster Novel...Just Not A Great One! Review: On A Wicked Dawn starts out promising with Amelia proposing marraige to an enbriated Lucien and a steamy four week courtship, but after the first few days of marriage it fizzles into a blander plot line that doesn't pick up again until the last quarter of the book. It seems as if the plot line wasn't fully fleshed out enough ahead and backs itself into a corner. I agree with the last reveiewer that this book doesn't deliver the punch of ON A Wicked Night, or the other books Stephanie Laurens has written in the past. Amelia and Lucien are interesting characters, but muted in their insecurity with each other after a few days of marriage. This makes the character growth stall until Lucifer & Phyllida Cynster(All About Love) arrive with news about a thief to be caught from within their midst. Members of their combined families then appear and the action and character movement sweep along to a satisfying conclusion. The most interesting secondary-character in this book is the first appearance of Simon Cynster. He appears here as a nineteen-year-old and demonstrates an interest in Lucien's outspoken fourteen year old sister Portia. It nicely sets up a future book possibility and introduces another member of the family that can bridge the gap between the Bar Cynster generation and their off-spring. As always, Helena, Lucifer, and other charcters from past Cynster books enliven and contribute laughter and action. A good Cynster novel...just not a great one. I'm looking forward to more in this series with the emotional impact of On A Wicked Night!
Rating: Summary: Wicked Fun! Review: On a wicked dawn begins with Lucien Ashford coming home drunk. He has just landed the deal of a lifetime and his family is now rich again. For years after his fathers death he has been keeping up apperances and now he finally has money to relax and pay his staff and creditors. At that moment Amelia cynster appears after all the time she has spent with his family she knows of his situation and offers him a deal her dowry to right his family's financial situation. She tells him it's because there's no one suitable in the ton. He agrees and than passes out. The books begins with that. Luc wants Amelia to marry him because she is suitable and for a reason he dosn't want to identify while Amelia loves Luc and wants a marriage in every way. She's willing to do everything to get her way but she won't admit she loves him for fear of his changing his mind. There love is slow but great to read. This book is great we revisit the Cynsters, Devil tells Honoria he loves her, and we get a sizzling love story to boot. Plus a bit a of mystery. A must own for any Stephanie Laurens fan!
Rating: Summary: disappointed Review: I've read all of Stephaie Laurens books and although some were better than others, this one was very disappointing. The characters were enjoyable, especially Luc but Amelia was very blah compared to her twin, Amanda. Three fourths of the book was nothing but sex and that took so long (several pages for each encounter) that I kept forgetting what the plot was. I wouldn't recommend this book to anyone.
Rating: Summary: 5 STARS AND MORE..... Review: if you like sensual romance, this book is for you....
Rating: Summary: enjoyable Cynster Regency romance Review: After eight years of dire financial straits caused by his deceased father, Viscount Luc Ashford is wealthy. Successfully steering his family through the great debts, he allows himself a night of drinking to celebrate. When he tumbles home, Lady Amelia Cynster accosts him with a proposition that they marry and he use her large dowry to pay off his no longer existing debts. Perhaps it is the marriage of his best friend to Amelia's twin that encourages him (see ON A WICKED NIGHT) and though he has the income to pay his bills, Luc finds the idea of Amelia as his bride quite appealing. He accepts before falling drunkenly unconscious at her feet. However, Luc insists on a proper courtship, which Amelia acquiesces to even as she tries seducing him. Waiting becomes agony, as Luc wants Amelia as much as she desires him. When they finally marry, passion is their middle names until someone steals items from their home. The theft causes Luc to worry how his beloved Amelia will react when she learns why he married her is not the reason she believes. The ninth Cynster novel is an enjoyable Regency romance starring two likable lead characters spending much of the book hiding their love for one another when they are not gazing or kissing. The well-written story line focuses on these delightful protagonists whereas a subplot involving a mystery augments their tale with unnecessary suspense. Though nothing new is added to the Cynster universe, fans of the series and Regency tales in general will enjoy Stephanie Laurens' latest historical. Harriet Klausner
Rating: Summary: A little....I don't know... Review: I really enjoyed the book, but there was something about the book that was not enough...It's nice that Luc and Amelia have good interaction and that they know they know what they want, but something about the book is missing...It's like Edward is used as an excuse for some excitement (not much at that) and the mention of Simon and Portia near the end of the book seems to be hinting that they have a story in the future, but that doesn't quite make sense since it'd be the 3 story between the 2 families (luc/Amelia, amanda/martin) if it does occur. I would also understand WHY the author might continue with Simon's story (see her website) but if the boy's 19 and another guy who's going to have his own story AFTER the cynster, is 33 already in this book, then I wonder...thank you for reading my comments.
