Summary: A Good Book
Review: I thought this was a good book, however, Dreaming of You is still my favorite. I thought that this book was lacking the intensity of emotions and depth of characters compared to Dreaming of You. I would still recommend this book though.

Summary: Wonderful, Sensual, Captivating Story
Review: This is the type of book that gives one the "warm fuzzies". Zach and Holly were made for each other. What was so wonderful was the fact that they genuinely liked each other as well as loved each other. No "I hate you" stuff which leaves me cold. Zach and Holly are about as mismatched as a couple could be; yet, they fall in love and like each other.

Holly is a true lady and a widow and is hired by Zach to teach his sister, mother and himself "social graces". He makes her an offer she can't refuse and she moves herself and her daughter, Rose, in his home. Unbeknownst to Holly, Zach is the man who kissed her at a party, in error. The room was dark so they could not see each other; however, Zach follows her out of the room and discovers who she is.

There is a small minor problem keeping Holly from marrying Zach but that is soon resolved.

Lovely story by Ms. Kleypas, as usual.

Summary: Not as sharp as previous books
Review: Although this book was very entertaining it did not have the sharp witty dialogue of her previous books.

Summary: Truly magical love story
Review: This is one of the best stories I have read in a LONG time. I especially liked the hero. He was charming, witty and very well written. And I especially liked the scenes with him and the little daugther - very touching. Here is a man in touch with the harsh realitites of life without being cynical - like so many heroes of written in romance novels. He has no need for the heroine to "bring him inot the light: so to speak. Its just the opposite. The author does an exceptional job portarying a young widow who thinks she will never love again. Thank god for fate!! An excellent read - a real tear-jerker (in some scenes) and a real hoot in others.

Summary: Beauty Remakes the Beast
Review: Zachary Bronson is a successful merchant and financier whose nouveau riche ways and lack of aristocratic blood keep him from full acceptance in polite English high society. He approaches the problem as he does any other challenge: he analyzes the need, ascertains the solution, and determines what he needs to acquire in order to attain it - then he goes out and buys it. This time, he buys the services of Lady Holland, a well bred Englishwoman still preoccupied with the untimely loss of her young husband three years older. Part Pygmalion, part Beauty and the Beast, part Lady and the Tramp, LK's novel tells the story of a relationship between two opposites, and the transformation each undergoes as they fall in love.

The story contains some fun and instructive information about London society of the time. I've always wished for a glossary of terms and and explanation of some of the customs written into this genre, and parts of this book gave me just that. This is a story with a fairy tale quality, and one that readers can empathize with - how many of us have yearned over something that was beyond our reach, and wished for a miracle! Most of the characters are drawn sympathetically, although I expected a little more malice in Lady Holland's family's opposition to her new post. Overall, a book I'm happy to recommend to others, with a good combination of characterization, love, sensuality, and emotional conflict. A different type of story from SOMEONE TO WATCH OVER ME, but I think this shows the breadth of the author's talent. I look forward to her next novel.

Summary: If only there were more like this . . .
Review: This book was sweet, sexy and really romantic! Once I started, I couldn't stop turning the pages. The characters were fun, and the ending was so beautiful it made me cry.

Summary: Almost Perfect
Review: I loved this book, but I was left feeling a little disappointed. I think she needed more on the heroine and and hero (more about their inner feelings) but it was still great read.

Summary: She's Back and Better than Ever!!!!!
Review: This is a great romance! I always like Lisa Kleypas but her last two books have not been my favs. This one reminds me of her "old" style in books such as DREAMING OF YOU. I ran out to get it and read it in one sitting. Furthermore, I'm sure I'll be reading it again soon!

Summary: NOT HER BEST...
Review: I was waiting anxiously for this book since reading Someone To Watch Over Me. That incidentally is still her best book. This book wasn't terrible, but it didn't engage my interest as it did with her previous books. I agree with a previous reviewer that something is missing. The characters were not interesting and the plot non existent. I like a story that concentrates on the two main characters. Here you got a heroine with lingering memories of a dead husband and she is saddled with a daughter.

I would recommend a pass on this book if you have other books to read.

Summary: OK Read But Lacks Magic Of Her Earlier Work
Review: I used to love Lisa Kleypas' romance novels. Many of them were perfect 5 star books such as "Dreaming Of You", "Then Came You" and "Because You're Mine". The heroes in these books were unbelievably wonderful and not necessarily titled lords. One hero was a gambling hall owner and another the lead actor of his day. I wouldn't part with these books for the world. However, her last three books, including this one, have been below the high marks she earned for these other works. This novel stars a hero who is an imitation of Derek, her gambling hall owner. This time he is an incredibly wealthy, ostentatious business entrepreneur. He is not nearly as well developed as Derek was in "Dreaming Of You," however. The heroine is almost too good to be true, a widow still in love with her dead husband who comes to give the hero and his family lessons in manners. The other problem is that her novel reminds me of others' novels as far as the basic idea. Judith Ivory's "The Proposition" (derived from "My Fair Lady"), for one, and, even more so, Megan McKinney's "Lions and Lace". If you haven't read Kleypas' earlier work, it is possible you may like this novel a lot better than I did. I think Kleypas needs to do something really radical to her writing though to turn this drift downwards around. Perhaps she should write in another period of time, and/or another country and/or another genre to regain her freshness and originality. They used to be her stock in trade. I believe these earlier books, referred to above, are still in print if you want to try one of them out first. I'd recommend it.
