Rating: Summary: Very Witty Review: I thought this book was absolutely wonderful. I liked both Zachary and Holly. They were truly made for each other. I like books with humor in it and this book has a lot of humor and wit in it. I've always wonder why authors end books so abruptly. Once the hero and heroine realize that they are in love, the books usually end pretty quickly. I enjoyed very much the last chapter and the epilogue in this book. Lisa Kleypas is a great author and in this book, I was able to picture that Zach and Lisa where going together forever.
Rating: Summary: Disappointing Review: I have been a long time fan of Ms. Kleypas and have several of her books as 'keepers'. I had really looked forward to this new book. However, I was left with a feeling that this is not up to her previous standards. Lady Holly(Holland) Taylor has been living with her in-laws under strict Victorian rules since the death of her beloved husband three years previously. She has continued to dress in mourning (etc.) for all this time, and has had no social contact. On her first time out, she meets Zachary Bronson at a ball and succumbs to his kiss in the garden - he, thinking he was meeting another woman who will become his latest paramour. To make a long story short, he inveigles a meeting with Lady Holly, hires her to teach him society's ways but insisting that it should make no difference to her how many women he has in his bed at the same time, one two or more. Toward the end of the book he declares his love for her from the first time he met her. But this has not stopped him from visiting a brothel nightly and indulging in various 'ungentlemanly pursuits'. Lady Holly who so piously has been mourning her husband suddenly throws it all aside and goes to Bronson's home to teach him on the condition he gives her 30,000 pounds so she can raise her daughter in style. Perhaps what left the bad feeling, is that both of the lead characters seemed so shallow that I could not sympathize with the widow or even care that the hero says he will remain true to her. With his background and immorality, I really wouldn't think this would be possible.
Rating: Summary: This is where my dream would begin! Review: Only one other time have I written a review, I read them all the time. Go and get the book! I am a avid romance reader, mother of three. I have been looking for something in all the books I have been reading, I just found it!!! I can't wait to look up some other books of Lisa's. Most of the books I read are highly predictable, I had no idea if Holly was going to live or die. I took the book with me to watch my husband play ball and had to leave early, I FORGOT THE BOOK! I was home one half an hour and went right to the book store and bought a new one. My husband would have been home in a couple hours. I hope the rest of her books are this good! Jennfer
Rating: Summary: A Great Book Review: I'm not usually a fan of Lisa Kleypas but I'm so glad I picked up this book. I loved this book. The Hero "Zachary Bronson" is a wonderful character who raised himself out of the gutter and is now a force to be dealt with, yet he still seeks entrance into the coverted world of the ton. His determination is something almost everyone in this day and age can relate to. He sees "Lady Holly Taylor" and almost at once decides to have her. A little high handed but he does it so nicely. Its also nice that such a strong man has a 'vulnerable' side. Lady Holly Taylor is a very loveable character and she charms her way into your heart. She and her child move in with Zachary and his monther and sister, hired to teach them to be 'civilized'. At the same time she become a part of their family. I strongly recommend this book to those who like the regency era.
Rating: Summary: Sweet & Enjoyable Review: From the very first sentence the pages roll very smoothly. The writing is excellent. Holly, a wonderful sweet loving woman. Zachery Bronson-Strong man with emotional compassion ,who does not need to ever apologize for his beginnings. Rose-the sweetest little girl with a most unique collection of buttons. What a genious idea ! I do believe Ms. Kleypas has written enough books on this line (but glad she wrote this one). She needs to go forward with her great imagination and give us some other wonderful stories to discuss and keep in our minds forever. I will keep this book in my collection and will look forward to read her future books. Marylin F. Graham
Rating: Summary: Another Great Romance Review: I loved this book. I found the characters to be well drawn and very loveable. I read this book in 2 days because I couldn't put it down. A sweet story I would highly recommend!!
Rating: Summary: IF YOU HAVE NOTHING BETTER TO READ.... Review: I really enjoyed Kleypas' last book--Someone to Watch Over Me. Lots of character development and a plot. I felt that this book was lacking both. It was not a complete waste of my time, but I really felt nothing for either character. I was kind of distracted with the presence of the heroine's daughter. Needless to say, I will not be rereading this book or keeping it.
Rating: Summary: Excellent Traditional Romance Review: I loved this book. It was a great romance in a very traditional way - that is, no artificial mystery or villian, just a great love story. All the tension came from the two main characters and their relationship. Whether it is "as good" as all of Kleypas' other books or not to me is irrelevent - it is better than almost every other romance I've read for the last year!
Rating: Summary: wonderful storytelling! Review: All I can say is that I am glad that I tried "one more" book by Lisa Kleypas. I tried 2 and didn't really like them, but after Where Dreams Begin, I am glad I persevered. Lady Holly Taylor is a proper lady of her time, and a widow who truly mourns the loss of her husband, George. This in itself was great, since usually we have the widow who has never loved before, but Holly has, and when her heart is once again, awakened, this time to Zachary Bronson, she is shocked and saddened that she could betray George like that. Zachary, meanwhile, can't forget the lady he mistakenly kissed in a darkened room and works it out so that Holly and her daughter Rose come to live with him, so they can teach him and his nouveau rich family proper manners and protocol. As Holly struggles to maintain her distance from Zachary, she realizes that she is losing social standing by her close and scandalous association with this upstart who was once a fighter. Nevertheless, as she begins to fall in love with him and with his mother and sister, society doesn't matter to her anymore. This was such a richly drawn book that I am looking forward to reading what I am told are Kleypas's even better books - Then Came You and Dreaming of You - Holly and Zachary are two truly well drawn characters who make the reader care for them. Rose is neither a brat nor a "precious" child, and Zachary's humble mother, unused to her new luxurious life, is really heartwarming. a secondary romance is written well enough to interest, but not overshadow the main romance. I loved this book and recommend it wholeheartedly.
Rating: Summary: A TRUE KEEPER Review: This book will keep you enthralled. I enjoyed this book so much I will put it on my KEEPER SHELF to read again and again. Holly and Zachery truely belong together. And her daughter Rose you will just fall in love with. I recommend you buy this book.
