Rating: Summary: This book was fantastic!! Review: At first I was sooo into the book, then I was like "ugh" when her and jason got married b.c. im a teenage girl and i didnt feel like hearing about someones boring married life, but boyyyyyyyyyyy was it not like that AT ALL cause it talked about her extra-marital affairs and how not being honest wit ppl and liein can really ruin ur life and to think about what ur doin cause everything has consequences and it may ruin you and the ones u love. im tellin u, Zoe and Jason taught me what REAL love is, they may be just characters but they taught me life lessons and if u love someone and they treat you right, then dont take advantage of that and every1 will have problems but if you love someone u will try to work it out (unless they r abusive or somethin, leave their behind, somethin definately addressed in this book) its just a great book for people 16 and up i think, but it just depends on someones maturity level but everyone needs to read this
Rating: Summary: Couldnt put it down! Review: I stayed up until 4 am reading this book because I could not put it down! A great sensual read with a great plot! I didn't understand a few of the words (like "nucca") but in my opinion this is a great book!
Rating: Summary: "Addicted" will make you Addicted! It is truely a classic! Review: First of all, if you haven't read the rest of Zane's books go cop them now! For all the closed-minded people lighten up and DON'T HATE ON ZANE, CONGRADULATE! Second of all, I have read Addicted four times already and I absolutely love the hell out of it! I love it. It took me six to eight hours to read this book, b/c I am a fast reader and when a book is good I inhale it and want to know what it is about right then and there. Zane makes this book so much like reality. I am sure there are a lot of people with the "perfect" house, and "perfect" kids, but not the "perfect "marriage! Zane shows that just b/c a person's marriage looks good from the outside, does not necessarily mean it all peaches 'n' cream in the inside. And Zane has a crazy way with her words, and talks the way she feels and how a majority of others would if they were in Zoe's shoes , instead of the "appropriate" way. Zane kept me rolling with laughter and most authors can't do that. Keep it up Zane, b/c I will be in the book store waiting for your next novel!!!
Rating: Summary: I like this book Review: I seriously wanted to love this book, but found it to be just so-so. It is an important book because it is brave and it was among the first Afro-eroticque books, I am told. The story is good and gets you going. The sex is good, too. But there was so much more that could have been done with it like in Threesome by Brenda Thomas, like why did we skip the lesbian scene with Diamond? Did I miss something there? Also, the people don't talk right sometimes, and I can't really put my finger on which generation they are from because the slang seems to come from the 70s the 80s and the 90s. The writing does its job, but it doesn't do anything exceptional like Preston L. Allen does in Bounce to make you think, to make you laugh, to make you sad, to even impress you. Don't get me wrong, my friend, what I'm saying is that this is a very good little book, but I was expecting more after all of the hype. Since now that my lady got me into this genre, I'm gonna read some more books by Zane and see if she gets better. She has a lot of books out there.
Rating: Summary: The Hype Was Better Reading Than The Book! Review: This has to be among the worst books I have ever read. I was initially intrigued by all the hype and the subject matter. Unfortunately Zane's lack of style, her one-dimensional characters and just plain sloppiness made this reading experience a total waste of time. I felt the writing style was juvenile and childish. I've read Harlequin Romances with more engaging plots. Zane's dialogue is stilted and contrived, her prose is inconsistent and she mixes vernacular across generations in a way that is careless and unprofessional. Her characters are flat. I kept waiting for something about Zoe to strike me as appealing. After all, the author expects us to believe this woman inspires the love and devotion of at least one man and the obsession of 3 other people. I reached the end of the book feeling completely neutral about Zoe. She is simply not heroine material! If the central character of a novel does nothing to inspire emotion in a reader, why bother? The remaining characters proved to be equally lackluster. Zane's sex scenes are listless to say the least. There is nothing "hot" about Zoe's multiple trysts. The sex is graphic, but there is no eroticism here. It's delivered in such an apathetic manner as to make these scenes the most unnecessary portions of the novel. Based on the subject matter, I don't believe that was the author's intention!
Rating: Summary: Like a Movie in my Head! Review: I couldn't put this book down. The chapters were playing like a movie in my head. Every Chapter had a twist to it. One of her best books.
Rating: Summary: One of the best books I've ever read! Review: This is up there with "The Coldest Winter Ever" by Sistah Souljah as one of my favorite books of all time. I couldn't put this book down. I can't count how many times my mouth dropped open when I was reading it. If you don't like this book then you must not be from this world, or your're a clone or something. Words just can't explain how awesome it was to read. Zane is definitely on her way to stardom and I mean fast!
Rating: Summary: The Haters Need to Shut Up! Review: To all the haters out there who don't like this book--when was the last time YOU wrote a book that someone other than your friends and family read? (And they read it only because they felt obligated!) Zane doesn't have to be the greatest prose stylist in the English language in order to tell a story that obviously resonates with thousands of people. Why waste your time writing a negative review when you've probably never published a word in your life with maybe the exception of a poem in the high school newspaper? Stick to valid criticism with REAL insight, if you must criticize, but leave the thinly-veiled hater attacks at the door. Whether you like it or not, Zane is laughing all the way to Chase Manhattan--and you're sitting there plunking away on a keyboard, seething with envy and wondering why people keep buying her books by the millions. Who's the fool? Look in the mirror.
