Summary: Simply Superb
Review: I completed Addicted on Sunday night. I must admit that I was impressed. I have always been a fan of Zane's erotic work, but now I am also a fan of her larger workings as well. Addicted had me on the edge of my seat (and even knocked me on my behind a couple of times). A piece of art has not thrown me for such a ride since the movie "The Game" featuring Michael Douglas.

I like the way that Zane is able to paint a very vivid picture of the times and of her characters. Like Martin Lawrence has the ability to do with some of his characters, you actually feel like, yeah, I know this person, or dang, that reminds me of my girl so and so or my boy B-bop, or even, I remember those times.

I enjoyed discovering the complexities of Zoe, Brina, Jason, but not so complex that I was lost in them. Not only that but Zane made me care about the characters. At one point, I was like dang, how much more can she take... or dang, Jason I know exactly the hurt and pain that you feel Jason, or dang, I knew that would happen. Zane puts that knife in our hearts at the perfect time. I thought I could predict the plot at first, but as I got into it deeper and deeper, I figured dang Zane d'un tricked me. I can't wait to see what happens next.

All in all I was very entertained, and once I got into the heart of the matter, it was very hard to put down.

Summary: It simply blew me away!
Review: I'm not sure what I was expecting when I sat down to read Addicted but I surely got more than I bargained for. Zoe had to go through so much drama. I wouldn't wish her problems on my worst enemy. This book has made me start looking carefully at the people in my own life. I wonder if they are all hiding secrets from me. I don't want to give the plot away but nothing in the book was what it seemed and I couldn't have predicted the ending if my life depended on it. Now that's what I call suspense. Go on with your bad self, Zane!

Summary: A Murder Mystery About A Married Nymphomaniac? Why Not?
Review: Addicted originally started out as a story idea for my firstbook, The Sex Chronicles: Shattering the Myth. However, once I satdown and thought about it, I decided the storyline was too intense to just throw it away on a 3,000-5,000 word short story.

While I was writing the book, I never knew what was going to happen from chapter to chapter and I didn't know who the antagonist would be until I wrote the ending. In fact, the book has two endings. I selected the one that actually went to print on the suggestion of a few "test readers".

I use the term "test readers" because I always like to see people's reactions before a book is released. Surprisingly, Addicted brought out all kinds of emotions in both men and women. Some even say they cried because it made them reflect on their own relationships.

I have never been so engrossed in a character as I was with Zoe Reynard, not because she is my clone but because she represents a combination of a lot of women that I know. I found myself working on this book with a vengeance and even spent the entire afternoon at a ski lodge sitting in the restaurant writing on a pad instead of hitting the slopes with the people I went on the trip with.

Whenever someone walked up to me and asked what I was doing, I would cover the paper with my hands because I am very secretive while I am writing. Now that the novel is out, I am inviting the world into my imagination. I am anxiously anticipating the response to this book because it is my first step away from the erotica genre. I just love to write period. My next book going to print, Shame On It All, is my first comedic attempt. My "test readers" all laughed so I guess it's all good.

I don't know how to really describe Addicted except to say that I keep it real. I don't believe in writing about perfect people living in perfect towns going about their perfect lives. To me, that is unrealistic but there are plenty of novels out there for those of you that relish that sort of thing. Zoe lives in a world where everyone is suspect and nothing is what it seems. If you are looking for a roller coaster ride of human emotion, then I am confident you will enjoy this book...email me your thoughts... that said, thank you to the thousands of readers and direct subscribers to my e-zine over the past three years and the thousands of people that visit EroticaNoir.com on a daily basis. I have never felt so appreciated, so blessed and so loved.

One last thing. If you do read Addicted, pleassssssssseeeeeee don't give away anything. You will ruin all the fun. :-)

Peace and Blessings, Zane

Summary: Standing Ovation!!!! BRAVO!!! BRAVO!!!
Review: This is one of the best books I have ever read....I must admit Zane put it down on this one....Sex Chronicles I & II ... I more or less used for ideas, but Addicted.....I actually could not put down and I can't say that for many books....The story line was incredible...the book lured me in and I could mentally visualized what I was reading...I would recommend to all my friends...

Summary: Off The Chain
Review: Addicted is my first Zane book. It's a slow read but worth the effort to keep reading. I look forward to reading more of what Zane has to offer.

Summary: read it twice, by accident
Review: It can't be a good thing that I was halfway through the book before I realized that I had already read the darn thing! I know a lot of mass market fiction can be interchangeable, but for the characters and plot to be so forgettable that it took me 100 pages before I realized it was all too familiar...that's crazy. Also, why couldn't the main character have a lot of sex simply because she loved it, not because she was molested as a child. It plays into the old stereotypes that the only women who have a voracious appetite for sex (aldultery, or not)must have been molested as children. When will women be allowed to love sex, simply because it feels good and it's wonderful?

Summary: OK But have read better
Review: I give this book only 2 stars because it was an easy read. If the plot was around the addiction to sex, why were the sex descriptions so vague and boring. I wanted more depth from the charcters, but had to realize that this is a fiction based novel to say the least. The characters were really weak. A better read would be "Anything Goes" by Jessica Tilles. Zane should have taken some notes on how to give more juice to the sex scenes from Jessica. And for all of the "Stop Hating" crew, it's not hating it's called constructive critisism.

Summary: Addicted -- at first
Review: I'm a writer by profession, and I'll admit that I was one of those who was "addicted" to this novel. I thought the twists and turns were a lot of fun and was willing to overlook the less-than-spectacular writing ability. Ok, some of the stuff was outlandish and unbelievable--but it did keep the pages turning.

That said, I tried to read another Zane novel (Sex Chronicles, I believe), then flipped through another and was extremely disappointed. She recycles the same words, phrases and ideas in all of her novels! Even the sex scenes showed zero imagination, and the writing got even worse. Unfortunately, Addicted was her best work. I'd probably recommend it--but I'd also recommend that you go no further than that with Zane.

Summary: Ridiculous
Review: I cannot believe I keep giving Zane chances, but all the hype around her has forced me to find something worth reading. I haven't yet. Addicted is the most ludicrous drivel I've ever read. I am not even hyperbolizing. This was even worse than "Milk in My Coffee" by EJD. I couldn't believe that this character, devoid of personality, was the center of everyone's world. Her husband, the good doting sap that he was, couldn't satisfy her sexually, but she had no frame of reference so I don't understand that. And why isn't her relationship worth more than sex? Is she really an adult? She sounds like a child who was overindulged her entire life, not molested. I also find it laughable that all of these men want to kill her; I wanted to kill her too for being so hung up on herself. She didn't deserve any of the affection she received from any of these men. Also, the therapist did not exhibit any characteristics normal of a therapist. Zoe's masturbation as a child was normal. Zane doesn't realize her obligation as an author to do research before writing a book, and it is extremely embarrassing.
The sex scenes, which should have been the saving grace in a book with horrible plot development and characterization, were childish ramblings. And what's wrong with safe sex? It's not like she's drunk when she's sleeping with these strangers. Zane should incorporate condoms in these stories.
This book, and other Zane titles, showed me that anyone can publish a bestseller, like anyone can have a hit song on the radio. Talent isn't nearly as important as hype.
Any grown woman who says she learned from this book, really should broaden her reading list. Self-help books are rampant at your nearest bookstore and amazon.com.
