Rating: Summary: Steamy! Sexy! Sizzling! Review: A tantalizing tale of sex and obsession! Graphic and well-written, Zane paints a vivid portrait of a woman driven by carnal desires to the detriment of all she holds dear. With sweat-slinging love scenes and enticing erotic encounters, ADDICTED will hold you completely captive until the very last page. Don't miss it!
Rating: Summary: Off the Hizzy Review: I'm going to keep my review short. Addicted is off the hizzy and if you want something HOT to read, you need to read it. In fact, you need to read her other book, The Sex Chronicles, while you're at it. My boyfriend bought that one for me when it first came out and our love life has improved ten times over just from reading it. Ha! Ha! I read a lot of stuff. I'll read just about anything and there is no question that Zane can write her diva behind off. Point blank. In fact, if you really pay close attention to her words, you just might learn a thing or two. I know I've learned a whole lot. ^5 to you Miss Zane!
Rating: Summary: I Have A Twin Sister After All Review: Well, not really but close. I could relate to Zoe, the main character, in a lot of ways. My own life has been plagued with similar problems; although not as extreme. This book is not only a suspenseful, intriguing, sexually enticing novel, it is almost like a therapy book for myself and several women that I know. Woman have always been thought of as meek and timid when it comes to our sexuality while the real cause of our inhibitions is based on our fear of being judged by our husbands and boyfriends; just like Zoe. Jason, her husband, is just as complex as are all the rest of the characters in the novel. I felt for everyone in this book from Zoe and Jason to Brina and Quinton. I love the way that Zane laid out the book and the way it flowed smoothly from beginning to end, drawing a reader deeper and deeper into it and eager to read the next chapter. Plus, her writing style is humorous at times, especially when they are kids. It reminded me of my childhood: the clothing descriptions, the television shows, the language. All in all, this book was GREAT! The ending was quite a surprise, at least to me. Zane is one deep sister. She wrote the book is something crazy like less than 20 days. That in itself is amazing. I have heard of other writers throwing together books, but it usually shows. You would think Zane took a year or more to write this book. I sincerely hope we haven't heard the last from her. I somehow doubt it.
Rating: Summary: A Refreshing Change Review: I don't normally review books but I just had to comment about this one. Addicted was terrific and not what I expected. I expected some wild sex story about a female freak that needed to seriously get herself in check. Instead, I discovered one of the most romantic love stories I had ever read. Jason is every woman's dream man because he is understanding, considerate and loving husband and father. It is refreshing to see such a positive African-American male character in a novel. Add to that, hot, hot, hot sex scenes, interesting supporting characters, new surprises in every chapter, and you have one seriously interesting novel. I also read this book in one day as many others stated. It is definitely a page-turner. Zane can write her tail off. Now, I have to get a copy of her other book so she can entertain me all over again. You go girl!
Rating: Summary: This is a GOOD Book! Review: I was hooked from the start. The book flowed well and kept my attention for all 267 pages. It reads very easy, but isn't simple. Zoe lead a very nice lifestyle and seemed to attract people of a different element, which was kind of interesting. There were times I wished Jason wasn't so sappy, but that added to the storyline. The "affairs" were tough and rough, so I can see why Zane choose that route. The book has sex, lies, murder, intrigue, suspense and all that. I liked the realistic details about the book, then ending got a little far-fetched, but hey, people are crazy this day and age and that could have happened! You won't be disappointed. Way to go Zane.
Rating: Summary: High Drama! High Suspense! Review: ...And some pretty hot sex scenes make for a darn good novel! I couldn't give the book 5 stars, because it has some flaws. Like, the beginning of the book, where we read about Zoe's and Jason's childhood, was a little boring. But once the story picked up (when they finally hit adulthood), I couldn't put the book down! I thought the hynosis scene was a bit much, but all in all, this book is provocative, and will have you on the edge of your seat. I knew in my gut who the killer was before I reached the ending, but I kept second-guessing myself because the back cover says "the true murderer is anybody's guess." This book is a fun summer read, and will have you hooked once you get past Zoe's and Jason's early years. It was so hard to put down, that I finished it in a day!
Rating: Summary: Addicted to this Book Review: If black romance novels fulfill your romantic fantasies, Addicted, by Zane is sure to give your sexual visualizations color. Addicted, chronicles the life of Zoe, a middle class African American female who seeks therapy for sexual addiction. Zoe becomes obsessed with sex in early adolescence and relentlessly pressures Jason, her high school sweet heart to take her virginity. Although she manages to marry Jason, the love of her life and they experience financial stability in spite of becoming teen parents, Zoe leads a double life. By day she is mother, doting wife and successful art dealer. By night and sometimes in the afternoon, she goes barreling headfirst into affairs with people who keep dangerous secrets. Blunt, violent and entitled, something black women have never collectively been, Zoe, feels she has a right to toe curling extramarital "sexcapades" with people she knows only on a first name basis to fulfill the sexual desires her sexually repressed husband cannot. She's possessive of her lovers and feels justified in having knockdown drag-out fights with their women and justified in telling outlandish lies to Jason to cover her tracks. Addicted is a ring side seat into the mind of a sex addict, the vibrant, likeable flawed Zoe. And it is through this heroine's courage to heal that the idea of therapy is made palatable to black people, who traditionally don't see it as a means to dealing with issues. Flashlight by Parliament and the Funkadelics, grape Kool-Aid, Good Times, and 8-track tape players are just a few of the details that will take you back to the 70s and your own memories of high school. Not all fun and games; Addicted is gritty, risqué and full of suspense. After reading this book, you'll think twice about ever having that one night stand you fantasized about and consider the fact that your would-be lover could be an axe murderer. But when Addicted is over, you'll miss Zoe like she was your girl friend. You know that wild child who told you so many juicy stories over the phone you didn't have to go out to get your kicks. You lived them vicariously through her tales of love and lust.
Rating: Summary: Truly Addicted Review: This book had a surprising twist at the end. I thoroughly enjoy taking the journey with Zoe and Jason. Zoe did have a serious problem, but one thing that I liked. Jason never stop loving Zoe. He stood by her side. I could not put this book down. It was definitely a page turner. I was very pleased how the story ended. Makes you wonder sometimes that anyone can be ADDICTED.
Rating: Summary: Hot, Hot, Hot Review: Caution---Read at your own risk. Addicted, is filled with twists, turns, lies, love and secrets which make up a lot of drama. Hold on for a rollercoster ride. Unconditional love is what Zoe and Jason shared. Each time I thought the drama was over something else happened. The suspense had me on edge until the very end. My favorite quote from the novel, "This is forever." "Always has been! Always will be!" Deep. Keep up the good work Zane. Be Blessed!
Rating: Summary: Wickedly Seductive! Review: Turn up the air-conditioner, pour yourself a nice cold drink, and grab a towel because Zane is getting ready to take you on a sexual escapade with Addicted. Unbeknownst to Zoe the protagonist of the story (and me for that matter), Zoe's sexual behavior was probably shaped long before she moved to her new neighborhood when she was in the fifth grade. The neighborhood where she met Jason, the boy who would become her first sweetheart, the boy who she would lose her virginity to and become pregnant by, the man who would later become her husband and yet through it all would not be able to satisfy her sexual cravings, sexual indulgence, sexual desires, sexual needs. As such, Zoe would seek sexual satisfaction outside of the marriage and would engage in a number of extramarital encounters ...some of the strange kind. As Zoe's addiction becomes overbearing, all-consuming and life-threatening she seeks professional counseling. It is via professional counseling that the secrets of the past come rushing forward...secrets that Zoe was unaware existed in the corners of her brain, secrets that help shape Jason's actions as well as secrets that Zoe's mom felt were better left in the past. As the secrets unveil, Zoe is able to find herself...however...will life now be perfect or will someone from her past be out to get her...? Addicted is a wickedly sensual, page turning, quick read story that will keep you up until the wee hours finishing the book. Addicted is lurid, bold, neurotic and totally engaging. Addicted is erotica with a storyline, substance and depth. It's also suspenseful and intriguing with plot twists and turns that take you to the edge and over if you're not careful. Just when you think its all figured out Zane takes you in another direction. Addicted is the first book that I've read by Zane but I'm quite sure it will not be the last.
