Summary: Girlfriend had issues
Review: This book took me forever to find. I searched libraries and bookstores all to no avail. I found myself addicted to finding this book. Once I found it, thankfully the reading it was very quick. I finished it in one day. Zoe was indeed addicted to sex and in search of the "big one". This book could very easily be the afro-american version of fatal attraction. Girlfriend, just had one issue too many and learned the hard way that walking away from it all wasn't as easy as she thought. Once you pick this book up, putting it down will not be as easy as the reader thinks!

Summary: Good sensual read
Review: The description of the history of the main characters was an excellent way of giving the characters some dimension. By the time you get to Zoe's addiction to sex, you understand her history and her family's history. There were hints, if you read carefully, of Zoe's sexual appetite. You are introduced to this fact even before Zoe has her first sexual experience. Not knowing exactly what it is that she's desiring, she has a strong desire for intimacy beyond the youthful excitement of hugging and kissing. Over the years, Zoe's sexual appetite grows and her mate's appetite remains stagnant.

The author shows us the pitfalls of the life of a sex addict whose desires are unfulfilled. There were many twists and turns and extremely dramatic moments related to the main character's lustful addiction. The lengths to which this character would go to get some satisfaction are at times extreme. All the while the character searches for satisfaction, she worries about her family and the effects her extracurricular activities might have on her family and her relationship with them.

Not being able to identify with the characters was not a problem as Zane effectively gave us a thorough background of the woman who came to almost destroy her entire family. We all know people like Zoe. They sit in the cubicles next to us. They are our neighbors, friends and family members.

Zane does give us an effective sensual story. She achieves sensuality vs. nasty kinky sex by writing sensitively to the issue of sex being an addiction. The author effectively fleshes out her main character with morals and a sense of tradition, obligation and family.

The idea that Zoe has three lovers is not exactly fair. One of the relationships is not developed or explored well at all. That relationship not explored might be better served by not being included in this work. The other two relationships are with characters that are as real as Zoe. The third relationship is with a character that is barely mentioned. It's almost like an afterthought. Without that relationship, Zoe would still be considered an addict.

Finally, the authors writing style is excellent. It takes skill to keep the Zoe character from appearing as a trifling pervert. Instead you feel sorry for this character and her sexual antics. If she could only get the attention she needs at home, she might not be such a hoochie.

Summary: Without Question, A Literary Masterpiece
Review: Addicted had me riveted and attached to my sofa for an entire weekend. I could not put the book down and I have already passed it on to several of my girlfriends. I am so glad that I noticed this book in Essence as the #1 bestseller and picked up a copy. It was well worth the money. The characters in Addicted are incredible and I felt for every last one of them. I am suggesting this book to everyone and will be reading ALL of Zane's books from here on out. Zoe, the main character, will have me analyzing things in my own life for a long while. I am so glad that an AA author has finally tackled the issue of sexuality with vigor and enthusiasm. Thanks, Zane.

Summary: How many cliche can one sentance have?
Review: I had the misfortune of reading as much of this book as I could stomach. Not only is the story line weak, but even worse is Zane's writing style - cliche after cliche passing for prose. Our book-club has UNANIMOUSLY agreed to trash it. Do yourself a favor and purchase something else.

Summary: Diamond in the Ruff
Review: I stumbled upon this book while surfing the net, thought it sounded interesting and ordered it. It is one of the best books I have read in a long time. My husband, who never reads, even finished the book in record time (for him anyway). Buy this book. You won't be disappointed.

Summary: Da Bomb!!
Review: Can you say "off the hook"? This is exactly what this book is. Mystery, romance, family, love, and passion can all be found within the 236 pages of Addicted. This novel takes the reader on an emotional journey. It will make you laugh and cry and in the end breathe a sigh of relief. This is a must read. Addicted, the title certainly exemplifies what this book does to the reader. I was hooked from the very first page. A definite page turner, I was unable to put to the book down before its completion. I was indeed addicted!

Summary: Sex, Lies and more Sex!
Review: Zoe has an addiction. It's not drugs, nor alcohol, nor gambling. She is addicted to sex. She has everything she ever wanted out of life, a great husband, great children and a great business. But there's something missing in her life....great sex. That's when she decides to go outside her marriage to satisfy her urges. By doing this, she begins to weave a web of lies, deceit, and mistrust.

Zane's novel is a true page turner. I introduced Addicted to friends and relatives and they all agree that this novel is terrific. Keep up the good work!!

Summary: Feenin
Review: I have read so much about this book, that I found myself feenin to read it. I ordered this book through a local bookstore and for 2 months they were not able to get me a copy. So after sweaty nights of frustration and dying curiosity I emailed the author herself. Explaining my situation, the same day she responded the next week I received the book the next day I was done. Addicted keeps you constantly reading the story unfolds like a flower. Zoe's sex addiction plays on many many women's fantasies. And like most fantasies they END. Meeting a handsome stranger having hellified sex whenever YOU want I mean who wouldn't love it. But then reality set in and all her lies caught up with her. It also shows how couples need to communicate with each other and not just by talking but by listening. Addicted is addicting and I want more. As a matter of fact I am about to read it again.
