Summary: Addicted
Review: I have never written a review before, but I felt that I had to write something after completing the book. I was completely "addicted". I read the book in one setting...I could not put it down. The ending was a little strange and at times far-fetched, but I still enjoyed the book. I would recommend it to others.

Summary: WHAT????????????????????????????????
Review: What man out there, would refuse to allow his wife to perform oral sex on him? I don't know of any! I bought this book because of all of the great reviews but was disappointed with Zane's writing style and the overall story.

At the end of the book, everything was so conviently rushed into one neat package. Very unrealistic! I finished the book feeling like there was something missing. As far as sexual addiction, what type of research did the author do in preparation for the book? What made Zoe a sex addict? She was more of an adultress than an addict....

Summary: Addiction?
Review: To be sure, this is an erotic novel, so many of the other literary concerns must take a back seat; however, it must be pointed out... that the term "sexual addiction," as it is defined in this book is inconsistent with how it is illustrated by said book. Zoe is addicted to something, but not sex, though she does have a lot of sex. On the other hand, we the reader quickly become addicted to Zoe's story as Zane has masterfully written it. In short, the novel "Addicted" is addictive--it is a whopping good read! Zoe, however, is not addicted (at least to sex).

What is best about this book, is not its excess, but its restraint. Don't be deceived. While a lot of wild things do happen in the book, they are well thought out and not gratuitous in any way (which is saying a lot about an erotic work). Never once does the writer simply give us a sex scene for purposes of titilation only, though...I know she must have been tempted. The result is that we end up following the plot (rather than skipping to the dirty parts); becoming interested in the characters' lives (rather than their physical attributes or sexual acrobatics); and ultimately being paid off with a climax, or resolution, to a story that we will read again and again and again (rather than underlining the key racy scenes for the friends we hand the book off to).

Finally, if Zoe is not addicted to sex, then what's up with the title? What is she "addicted" to?...The addiction is the one thing we fight for though we may surrender all else. Hint # 1: it can't be sex for Zoe because note how easily she gives it up and then doesn't crave for it later when she passes Quinton's place of employ, or even when he is sexing/assaulting her in the book's climactic scene.

Hint # 2: You take away an addict's "drug," she will do anything to get it back. She needs the high. It's what she lives for. If she can't have it, she would rather die...The point is that an addict would rather die than be without the thing that makes her high. Think about it.

Zoe's real addiction should be clear to you now, for it is the one thing that she demonstrates she would DIE for. It is the one thing that she has craved all along. It is the one thing she fights like crazy for, THROUGHOUT the book...

Very, very clever of you, Zane. Very clever.

Summary: I loved this book and couldn't put it down.
Review: If I was to read this book to someone who was very axnious to know what was going on, I would and read it for myself too. I think Zane is a excellent writer, and hope that one day that I could meet her ,b/c the book was very interesting and I hope it will be second edition.

Summary: Checked Into Rehab
Review: ...The book started off okay, but for a long, drawn out description of Zoe's growing up, all of which wasn't necessary. But the further I got into the book, the more unrealistic it became. Zoe never seemed to change from childhood to adulthood. She had children, but they're almost never mentioned. She believes she's an "addict" by maintaining long-term relationships with two different people (the third relationship was barely mentioned.) This "addiction" apparently didn't start until after she was married to a man who didn't satisfy her sexually. What she had were affairs. The relationship between Zoe and Jason seemed without depth or meaning, other than a long history. What was it that made them stay together? Zane is good at telling how much they love each other, but not showing it.

Beginning with the slash and stab murder of her friend, the novel takes a sudden turn from unreal to ludicrious. I didn't know whether to laugh or fling the book down in disgust. I couldn't connect with Zoe, or anyone in this book, it was so melodramatic and unrealistic. All three of Zoe's lovers seem to have some type of mental disturbance, and it seemed unlikely for one woman to come across three nuts one after the other. Every possible plot is thrown in, from the main character walking into traffic, to a dramatic hypnosis session, to a trail of murders. Then everything is magically solved within the last few pages. It was utterly ridiculous.

I think a better approach would have been for the author to leave out all the murder and mayhem, and focus on a woman with a REAL addiction, the affect on herself and her family, her struggle to keep her family. That is what I was expecting out of this book, and I was very disappointed. Don't waste your time on this one.

Summary: Splendiferious!!!
Review: This book is my first introduction to Zane and it was recommended by a girlfriend. I LOVE IT!!! I brought it on my lunch break and have read over 200 pages in the last18 hours. The writing was great, descriptive, I was with Zoe all the way.
The characters were great. This could be a true story. Zoe is a strong sista who can definitely hold her own against man or woman but she also knows when to back down and seek help. She's definitely up front and on the real with herself about her problem. It's not just a power trip though, sista girl has some real issues. How many women can say they have been with three men and various house hold utensils all in one day?
And the men of the story all have different traits and characteristics that if you put them together they'd make the perfect man. Man-dingo that is. The fact that they're all a little nuts adds flavor. All except for Jason who is definitely Zoes' rock. Obviously he has the potential to be an Adonis but he's happy being the boy next door. That's alright though because either way he gets the girl. Definitely a good catch.
After Addicted, I am looking forward to reading Zanes other books. I recommend it to any woman who has ever wondered what could happen if they did, and any man who's always looking up and askedWhy.

Summary: Fun book kept me entertained for hours
Review: I really enjoyed this book so much in fact I finished it in 3 days. I found myself not being able to walk away from it. I think for all the people who are giving such negative feedback what I want to say to you is this is fiction some parts are supposed to be unbelievable. Its not Time Life Books or National Geographic. So stop analizying every chapter and enjoy it.

Summary: Cold Turkey
Review: After having come off of two literary disappointments, I opened this book to the prologue and thought, "Oh, yeah! I think we have a winner!" I was wrong. It took getting to the middle of the book to figure that out, but nonetheless, I was wrong.

The main character Zoe recounts what she says is her sexual addiction to her therapist from the time she meets her husband to the climax of the story (no pun intended). Zoe is anything but a sexual addict according to my research. Speaking of research, that's about the only good thing that came out of my reading this book. It made me research sexual addiction; something I think the author could have benefitted from. Having three lovers you come to see on a regular basis could be the preamble to a sexual addiction, but in the way the book chronicles it, Zoe just wasn't satisfied at home. No big phenomenon there. There's more TV watching going on in half the married bedrooms than anything else in the world. If her behavior could be classified as sexual addiction, then much of the whole world is in trouble. Sexually, that is. Had Zoe been hanging around public restrooms to meet her conquests 5-6 times a day, then I would have believed in an addiction.

The book began wonderfully. From the middle to the end, I thought I was reading a rejected script from the Young and the Restless. It just got silly. The dialogue was stilted, the descriptive language was elementary, and the story lost any realism it started with.

By the way, In all Zoe's business success after only graduating from high school, no one ever encouraged her to further her education? How loving could her husband had been to further his own and not at least mention to her to get her's?

Summary: Good a first but not so good at the end
Review: The plot for the book was good, but the way Zane went about writing it could have been better the is about a wife who has a sex addiction that might tear who whole life apart the book is worth the money but it is not the best book i read this year.
