Rating: Summary: GREAT READ BUT FAR-FETCHED ENDING... Review: I personally enjoyed reading this book for the most part. Zane is a good writer who paints a vivid picture with words. Overall, the book was entertaining - a true page turner, but the characters seemed to be somewhat one-dimensional leaving a lot of loose ends. The whole sex addiction thing drew me to the book like it would anyone else but I also feel that the main character, Zoe's life was a bit rushed. It was first comes love, then comes marriage....and you know the rest. The climax was good but I feel that Zane should have went deeper into the 3rd affair. The book kept me turning pages until the end; I think that Zoe's and Jason's post-marriage counseling sex life was a bit rushed. I also feel like Zane was picking straws to makes a last horra for ending and the cabin in the woods thing was a bit much. I would recommend this book to a friend because of the well described sex scenes (if you want to call them that) but I would be embarassed to recommend it to my mother because of the same reason.
Rating: Summary: Edgy, Sensational, Gripping Read..Couldn't put down Review: What a wonderful and refreshing read by Zane. Addicted pulls you in from the very beginning and holds you until a very dramatic ending. I couldn't put this book one down to save my life. It had some awesome twist and turns that are sure to floor you. Zoe Reynard is the main character. She a married Black woman with everything. Well, everything but, the right thing, or so she thinks. This story is the perfect example of what not to do, when you're in search of satisfaction. Her sexual addiction takes her on journeys that are sure to have you hot and heavy and on edge. She brings into the story Brina, Tyson, Diamond, Marcella, Quinton, Dempsey and her loving family members such as, Jason her husband, mother and her three boys. This book gets rave reviews from me because, it seems to be the first of it's kind. It explores exoticism deeply and the illness or addiction that can result from it. Every page is hot and leaves you longing for more. It made you see the beauty and danger in it. I look forward to reading this one again and sharing it with others, that aren't in my book club. Thanks for the fabulous read Zane, I'm on my way to get all your others and hope to be equally pleased.
Rating: Summary: Ball of Emotion Review: Addicted was recommended to me by one of my girlfriends, wow, amazing read. It hits all the emotions, happiness, sorrow, depression, and it makes you all hot at times. I would recommend it to any man or woman out there who is into reading that requires a little mindwork. :) Great Book by a GREAT Author.
Rating: Summary: I Wanted To Hate Zoe But I Fell In Love With Her Instead Review: Addicted is a wonderfully constructed novel about love and what can go wrong when secrets from the past invade the present. At first I wanted to hate Zoe, the main character, I really did. After all, she was cheating on her husband. However, by the middle of the book I found myself caring about her like she was my little sister or my best friend. Part of me wanted to reach through the pages and protect her from whatever was about to happen next. The character development in this novel was great and while there was significant time spent on the backstory as a previous reviewer pointed out, it made me feel more compassion toward Zoe and her husband Jason because I knew what they had gone through to end up together. I also read Zane's erotica collection, The Sex Chronicles, and all I can say is Zane has one of the best imaginations I have ever seen. Zane is an excellent writer and I look forward to her next book. I hope she will write many, many more.
Rating: Summary: Girls Take Note...Some Addictions Can Kill Ya! Review: This was a wonderful thrill of a read. Addicted is full of sex, lies and murder. I enjoyed this book tremendously - and I am glad that I paid the $20.00 cause it was well worth it. Zane is a wonderful writer and it's hard to believe that she is not mess or at least know some people who are. All of these characters are wonderful and full of their own story. Addicted was so "addictive" I couldn't stop reading it. I enjoyed the sex scenes - ok...ok go tell my Momma. :-) If you are looking for a change and some hot...hot...stuff then trust me this one will do it for you. You will get caught up with all of these characters and the lies that they keep. Lord knows everyone wants a Jason in their life. I do however believe that the book holds a wonderful "lesson in life" for all of those who will read it. I won't tell you what I think it is cause I don't want to spoil the book for you! Addicted is sure to help you re-think some of those addictions in your life!
Rating: Summary: Addicted was Addictive! Review: this was my first Zane book and I read it in the 11th grade (I know) but this book was so gooood it had a storyline to it that women could relate with, Zoe loves her boo but if he ain't got the magic stick what could she do? I don't wanna talk 2 much but if yall get this book remember cheese and movie theater..
Rating: Summary: Zane is best in her class. Review: Let's remember (especially miss too-good from Paducah, Kentucky!) that we're not reading Shogun, or Mice and Men here. So you cannot rate them the same. Duh. For books falling in the class of fun, easy reading (a break from all the deeply complicated and overly serious dramas) Zane rates best in her class. "Addicted" was so good. It takes you for a different ride; fast, hot, and satisfying. After reading Ken Follet's, "The Pillars of the Earth," "Addicted" was like a huge caramel and hot fudge sundae instead of a big hearty meal. Plus, this is how we (black women) talk with one another. It doesn't make us idiots lacking some big troth of bigger vocabulary words. We speak this way when we are comfortable. We speak the so called "correct" English when we are in professional situations. Hence, black people are able to better relate to this book. I wouldn't recommend it to any one who doesn't have an open mind. I usually read historical epics, but I finished "Addicted" in less than two days. So it must have been something worth reading. Zane gets five stars from me for this category of reading. And like the first review says to all of those with negative comments, "stop hatin!"
Rating: Summary: One of the best I have read. . . Review: I finished "Addicted" in four days and I have to say that I was "addicted" to this book. I was expecting something really sleezy and nasty because it focused on a woman's addiction to sex, but it was quite the opposite. Zane did an excellent job of helping me (the reader) get to know Zoe before she went into detail about why she was addicted to sex. Jason's character was quite impressive as well. Let's not discount the character development of Brina, Tyson, Quinton and Diamond. I thought there could have been a bit more explantion about Zoe's earlier experiences that lead to her addiction, but I highly recommend this book to anyone that is curious to know about the surface of sexual addiction and what it can do to a family if it is controlled. Overall, the general stereotype is that men are the ones that need sex all the time. This book definitely puts a different spin on that and forces the reader to look at this all too real experience from a woman's point of view. Zane, Excellent book. Your writing style is truly an inspiration to a woman who is trying to determine is she wants to try to become an author. I am looking forward to reading your other novels.
Rating: Summary: Must Read Review: If you like drama, then you'll like it. I loved it.
Rating: Summary: Must Read Review: When I first heard about this book I expected it to be like the other Zane books I'd read-full of off the wall tales of sexual escapades on every other page(not that theres anything wrong with that!) but this book was SO much more than that. It tell the story of Zoe. She marries her childhood sweetheart, has three kids,a great job and a beautiful home. Everyone but Zoe thinks her life is perfect but thats not so. Her husband is sexually repressed and shes sexually obsessed. Then she mets Quinton,a sexy local artist, who turns her whole world upside down in more ways than one! This book is full of twists and turns and just when I thought I couldn't be shocked anymore I was wrong! Read this book!
