Rating: Summary: A Magical Book by a Magical Author Review: Karen Marie Moning does it again with The Highlander's Touch. You cannot read this book without laughing, crying, raging, and loving right along with Circenn and Lisa. The story is pure magic... a must buy, if you are in the mood for an irresistible love story. HIGHLY, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
Rating: Summary: Great Book! Review: First of all, you cannot compare ANY books to the Diana Gabaldon series. So, when reading this book, you have to treat it as if you would any other type of book. You wouldn't compare any other authors to Stephen King or Dean Koontz, so you can't compare this book to the Oulander series either. With that said, this book tells a great story. There's time travel, war, & romance. The story doesn't elaborate on war much at all, just basically that there is one and that's about the gist of it. But the romance that builds between the charaters and the way the author describes them is awesome! I actually laughed out loud when I read parts of this book and I did get tears in my eyes during one part. (But I won't give any of it away) You will fall in love with Circenn, and the passion he has for Lisa. The story begins when Lisa goes back in time, she meets Circenn. Her first meeting with him and he is naked. She can't believe how barbaric & sexy he is at the same time. Right from the start you have compassion for Circenn. You also get annoyed at Lisa for being the typical mouthy female. (Come on ladies, you know what I mean!) As the story goes on you warm up to Lisa. She doesn't do, try, or say anything that you wouldn't do in today's society. Which is all she knows no matter what century she is in. You begin to feel both of their pain, and both of their passions. The end of the story takes you by suprise. I was not expecting an ending like that, but it was a pleasent ending none the less. I recomend this book to anyone who enjoys time travel/romance stories. You just CANNOT compare it to the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon. But Karen Marie Moning does deserve an applaud for this story.
Rating: Summary: Loved this book! Review: When I first got this book I didn't realize it was a part of a series, when I did I put it up until I could read the other books. I'm glad i did. It made much more sense to me when I knew who Adam was and What a Berserker was. Even though the first two books take place after this one I could tie them in very well. This is a time travel book. I love time travel books. I wish that there had been more discription of Lisa's(the heroine) transition into 14th century life. Plus when Circenn(the hero) goes forward in time his transition. The love scenes in this are great even before they actually happen. The two have fantasies about each other which are quite steamy. I like the fact that the hero hasn't been with a lot of women. It makes him seem more real. I liked the secondary characters of Galen and Duncan who I have a suspision are related to Hawk in Karen's first book. I would dearly love to read books about them finding love. Especially Duncan who has "had" almost every willing maid he can find until he seems to meet his match in a mysterious woman named Elizabeth MacBreide. She seems like a match for him. This is a good book and I would recommend it to anyone who likes tender but fierce warrior hero's and mischevious fairies.
Rating: Summary: Sin-Sational Review: This was the first time travel book I had ever read and I've read a lot of romances in my time. I had previewed the first page, but put the book aside in favor of another. Months later when I was out of books and desperate for something to read, I picked it back up and I certainly wasn't disappointed. Far from it. Let's face it, all romances are fantasy, but it doesn't stop us from reading them. In this book, at different moments the writer just out did herself. Especially the dialog between the two main characters. Now and then I would stop reading just to absorb it all. Time travels are hard for me to recommend or sell to other avid romance readers (even when I give them the book). But I've begged them all to give this one a try. I now have all of Karen Marie Moning's books and have loved them all, but this one is special. Do yourself a favor . . .sit back, relax and enjoy a little fantasy.
Rating: Summary: very lame Review: (...) This book has got to be the stupidist one I've ever read. This is supposed to be a romance book, right? The characters should fall in love, right? Granted, there's always an immediate attraction, but somewhere along the line they fell in love and I missed it. There's too much going on in the book. First there's Robert the Bruce, then there's a group of fairies, then there's Duncan and Galan (where the hell did the redhead come from, and why does she matter?), the future is still going on without Lisa... Isn't the book supposed to be about the "Highlanders' Touch?" And the whole "bond" thing has got to be the stupidest thing I've ever heard of. And if the book has a conflict in it that supposed to be resolved, you can't just change the future to fix it, it supposed to be worked out, like maybe Circenn bequeaths several million to the Stone family in 2000, and Lisa never has to pay the bills or something. And the hero's not supposed to stay immortal. (...)
Rating: Summary: Best author I've read in a long while Review: You have to read this author! I cannot decide my favorite among her books. This books was wonderfully romantic and original. Ms. Moning's use of time travel was not in the normal 'heroine gets bonked on the head and finds herself in another time' plot format. It was unique and anything but familiar. Her heroes are to die for and her heroines are strong and intelligent. Definately worth the time and money, you'll wish you'd read them sooner.
Rating: Summary: Not as good as the first two books in this series.. Review: This book is a fun, entertaining and engaging read, but lacks the 'pop' of the first two books by Karen Marie Moning, "Beyond the Highland Mist" and "To Tame a Highlander". The reappearance of the character of fairy "fool" Adam Black was fun, and there was definitely a twist to his character I hadn't expected, that I also found to be entertaining. Unfortunately, the character of Lisa was just not as likeable a heroine as Adrienne and Jillian were (from the first two books), nor did I understand the mind reading ability that seemed to be 'plunked' into the book. Circenn was as seductively attractive and fascinating as the other heros, but he, too, seemed to pale in comparison to Grimm and Hawk. I truly did enjoy this book on a fun, light hearted level. But I definitely prefered the first two books in the series.
Rating: Summary: Totally Whimsical Review: Lisa and Circenn's time travel adventure is one of a kind. This is the first book I've read of Ms. Moning's writings, but it definetly compelled me to read more of her works. The Highlander's Touch has a unique sense of aura to it. The author combined historical facts, time travel, romance, mystery, and most of all FANTASY! I could'nt believe this book had fairy's as one of it's main characters. But none the less, this book offers lot of joy and enetertainment to it's readers. Unfortunately, I only gave it a 4 due to it's rushed ending. It left me hanging for more, atleast an epilogue of some kind. It became to fast paced at the end with too little details. But, this book is still good, in which case I highly recommend it, as long as the reader is not oppose to some sort of mysterious fantasy!!!!
Rating: Summary: A Disappointment Review: After reading the Outlander series, by Diana Gabaldon, I went in search of other time travel, romance, historical, adventure novels. According to other reviews, Karen Marie Moning was another acclaimed writer worthy of reading. Well, sorry to disappoint Moning fans, but I was sorely disappointed. I couldn't even read past the first chapter, it was so badly written. IF you like "fluff", then this is for you. I, however, enjoy a well written, well researched, and well articulated novel, and one I can get my teeth into. I found this book, and others like it, ...
Rating: Summary: excellent Book Review: I have read all her books, and Highlander's Touch is the best, I couldn't put it down.
