Rating: Summary: Not all it's cracked up to be!!! Review: I love to read erotica... The stories in this book are like 2 pages long. I need a little more meat with the potatoes. They are way too short and they say the same thing. Zanes method of sexual pleasure is the same in every story. This is a book you read with a partner. It is not a book that you cuddle up with and read from beginning to end. It has no substance. It gets down to the nitty gritty. Even in a porn movie you get a little scenario before the music starts playing. I grew tired of this book after the first 2 stories. I think that she needs to explore a little more. Get some new and fresh ideas or give her readers a little more story for each scenario. They are not bad stories but they kind of leave you hanging at times. I think the book lacks format and organization. Give the readers something to look foward to. Carry a few characters throught the book. I really thought Zane had it going on but I have yet to read any of her works that impressed me like Addicted. Girl u better get it together!!! Or writing will be a short lived career.
Rating: Summary: Enough Said Review: Okay, I'm going to be honest when I say I was really trying to be open minded about this book. I normally find something interesting and intriging in almost every book I read. However, this book, which I am not about to diss, was truly disappointing coming from the aspect that it held no grounds what-so-ever on an emotional level. It was written very remotely and I feel that true talented writers, can have you grasp their intent & make you feel their book by keeping it real. Zane says she started writing these short stories kind of on a whim, which people took an interest too. That's okay, to each his own, but I also feel that she was playing around & got lucky that the world we live in today preys on sex. I mean she could have written absolutely anything & just put raw sex in it & it would sell. Well props to her shes making her money, but hey, keep the sex, but make it a good read if your going to present it to your readers. I know I didn't have to buy it, but how else can you form an opinion or truly know what a book is about unless you give it a chance. Anybody can write, sex, sex, sex, which is what I felt ZANE did. The stories were a real joke I actually laughed and asked myself out loud if this book was a joke. I was so upset, I mean I gave the book a chance but it was my own fault b/c I played into the hype. I had picked up the book, flipped through a few pages & put it down. I started reading the reviews thinking..hmm maybe..lets see, and ended up being UPSET! I didn't even want to lend it to anyone or give it away, because it simply wasn't a good read. I really felt I was reading a story from a horny teenager who watches porn movies. I make it my intent to always finish a book I start & I must say I started this book, read some chapters, jumped to the end to see if it held anymore content, and promptly returned this book in exchange for Heat Seekers. I read Addicted and really enjoyed it. It was out there at times with the stories jumping around sporadically.. but who cares, its fiction and a book is to be enjoyed. Addicted was entertaining throughout and pretty well written. Now don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong keeping it raw & real referring to The Sex Chronicles, but all the stories collaborated into one another with just different places, times and sexual positions, but carried the same usage of wordings over & over in a different context which was very repetitive and honestly annoying. I feel that people who really enjoy reading would really find this book boring. If she took more time to incorporate a bit more reality to the stories so that you could relate to it on a higher level it would have held alot more ground. Keep it erotic with the sex not being the whole & only focal point of the book. Sorry about this being long winded, but I had something to say...enough said.
Rating: Summary: Umph Review: I thought Sex Chronicles was going to be a typical book about some friends and their sex lives, but instead I got a bunch of sex stories. I'm not mad at that, but they just didn't thrill me. I like Zane, but the stories were repetitive. She also tacked on fairytale endings that were not needed. Borrow it, if you really want to read it, because you probably won't be reading it again.
Rating: Summary: Where do I begin? Review: I reviewed part 2 before I reviewed this one and after reading that one, I can say that this is the better one. When I first started the book, I must admit that the first story but a smile on my face. I found it to be sexy and erotic. As I proceded through the book the story got a little more exotic. There were a few that I found to be boring (and down right nasty), but for the most part, this is one of the Zane books that I enjoyed.
Rating: Summary: Shattering the myth is right Review: I have just finished reading this book and I just wanted to say that there are two stories in the book that I loved the best and they were "the first night" and "if you were here". Let me tell you that I found this book to be off the hook and true in a lot of instances. In other words I could relate to a few of the stories in this book. Keep the books coming.Love your work!
Rating: Summary: READ ZANE'S BOOK Review: OOOHH my goodness. You really should read the disclamer in the beginning because this book can stream up your day and have to creaming on yourself. All i gotta say is this book is a must read for everyone and make sure that you read all her other books, because her writing style and unique and different it is not like anything that you have ever read and if it is..somebodt needs to tell me[.]READ HER BOOKS!!
Rating: Summary: Loved it Review: This is a great book. It is a page turner. I absolutly love this book. If you love this you have to read the next book, too.
Rating: Summary: Soaking Wet Review: I ordered this book and Sex Chronicles II for a trip I have to make out of country for three months. When the books arrived, I couldn't help but read Chapter 1 of the Sex Chronicles. Now I'm on Chapter 8 and I haven't left for my trip yet. Once I started reading, I couldn't put the book down! I'm currently reading the "Heat Seekers". It's good, but the Sex Chronicles is even better. I can read it over and over and still get the same wet feeling everytime I read. (If you know what I'm talking about!) A GREAT READ. Thanks Zane. You confirmed that black women are full of sensuality and sexuality!
Rating: Summary: Oh well Review: I really liked Zane's novel "Addicted," so I decided I would give this book a try. Much to my chagrin, it was rather blah. As I read many of the short stories, I found myself guessing (correctly) the outcomes to the stories. In my opinion, that is not a good sign. So while at first I may have been into the stories, I soon grew tired of them and retired the book shortly after starting it.
Rating: Summary: Zane breaks the rules! Review: The short stories in The Sex Chronicles fall into three categories: Wild, Wilder and Off Da Damn Hook! And it is no wonder that the book is separated into the aforementioned categories -- Zane's imagination goes beyond ecstatic in this great piece of work. This book also breaks the old belief that women aren't aggressive enough. It also tarnishes the disapproval that society place upon sexually uninhibited women. Zane's purpose isn't to promote promiscuity; she simply shares her insights and ideas on spicing up one's level of intimacy in original and sensuous ways. The stories vary from romantic to roughly explicit, so you might want to read it with your partner in mind. I look forward to reading more material from this talented author.
