Review: I couldn't finish the book. Zane's way of writing is just not my style. I bought this book thinking that there would be a little bit more of a story to it, but I guess I shouldn't have looked into that. The title is a pure definition of what the book is - just a bunch of short erotica stories.I feel I cannot judge this book or the author on a large scale because I did not finish it. The book didn't hold my interest -- I prefer more of a story to go along with steamy scenes.

Summary: Did You Say Kama Sutra?
Review: Yes, I said Kama Sutra! That is the first word that came to my mind after reading this book. The Sex Chronicles: Shattering The Myth is a 287 page book that I put in a class all itself...those longtime fans will call this genre Erotica. This was my first encounter with this type of literature, but I am open minded enough and adventuous enough to read another of Zane's books. I had heard all the hype about Zane...Zane...Zane. But I was not prepared for her boldness, creative imagination, sexual fantasies and the new use for mouhwash (I must be getting old...I still think about whip cream). This book consist of forty short stories or sexual escapades that will captivate, entertain and maybe even stimulate the reader. Book sales for this author are through the roof. Readers have proven that there IS A MARKET for african american erotica. The book also contains excerpts from other books by Zane such as "Addicted", "The Heat Seekers" and "Shame On It All". Comments from readers are also included which I though was a good idea. I enjoy hearing what others are saying about a book. If you are into erotica...this book will definitely be an asset to your collection. If you are a first timer like myself...put on your seat belt and throw caution to the wind!

Review: This book was good. And if your a freaky person and like trying new things this might be the book for you and you might want to try the second one too. This book will have you wanting to try new things and it will have you on the edge of your seat. Please please please read "The Godfather". Girls when you read this part it might seem like your doing your man dirty but sometimes especially if your man have cute friends it be like that.

Summary: Not very imaginative
Review: I was excited when I saw this book on the shelf, but after reading a few stories I was disappointed.
I disagree with the reviewers who called it "nasty" in a bad way. Remember these are erotic stories, and what is nasty in that area is very personal and a question of what you think about sex and how open minded-you are. In my personal opinion it was tasteful.
However, I found it to be really unimaginative and repetitive. After 3-4 stories it was like I had read them all.
I also agree with another reviewer that it had these unnecessary fairy tale endings which seemed out of place, as if to show "see, I am for family values, and not for sex for its own pleasure." (As if there was something wrong with that. But I guess writers are under pressure.)
Another aspect that bothered me was that there were absolutely no interracial stories of any kind in this book. In fact, in one story, the main female character referred to jungle fever when she saw an interracial couple. What kind of unnecessary generalization is that? I believe there is a huge variety of people out there who may be attractive to different people for different reasons, and this kind of book should be the last place to discriminate...

Summary: BLACK EROTICA AT ITS BEST!!!
Review: The Sex Chronicles has to be one of the best black erotica reads for 2002. I purchased the book last week and flew through it in no time. Every story, although some seem to be repeats of previous ones, left me wanting more. Zane starts of with a collection of stories in which she titles "Wild". The stories in the "Wild" portion of this book are often centered around the sexual escapades of people in loving and committed relationships. Once, you get to the "Wilder" section of the book, the stories tend to become more intense and are centered around so called "Lust at First Sight", just seeing someone that you had to have right then and there. Once you get to the "Off Da Hook" section of the book,...But, the book is great overall because it tackles every aspect of sex from sex with the one you love to sex with someone you just met on the street. Buy this book, you won't be disappointed!

Review: this was my seccond Zane book it was more like a bunch of short freaky stories... If you are looking for a book with a solid storyline this isn't it. But if you are feeling kinky or you or your mate needs pointers read this.

Summary: Congratulations My Sistah
Review: I have enjoyed Zane's writing from the moment I read her first short story a few years ago(First Night), which is also the first story in The Sex Chronicles. Her writing is so realistic and descriptive, that I feel like I'm in the room with her characters. If you love to read erotica, then this is the book for you!!! I just purchased her novel, Addicted, and I'm looking forward to reading another remarkable piece by Zane!!

Review: I agree with a previous review, I purchased the book thinking it was one story. But I was not disappointed to find mini-stories. I've never really read explicit erotica until Zane. I truly applaud her efforts. Black love is a beautiful thing and our sexuality is even more beautiful. Zane does a fantastic job in bringing our love and sexuality together to show a combination that have no words to describe. I was happy that some of the couples ended up together if they were not already.

Summary: Great People Pleaser
Review: The book was definetely erotic. I couldn't get into the book that well because it was a bunch of short stories. If you're into to that kind of thing it's a great book to take notes from on different positions and techniques; since she goes into great detail about these things. I took this book to my high school to read, I let a couple of people read some erotic parts of the book, and it started from there. People you would think wasn't even into that type of stuff seemed to be begging to read the book. I'm sure it went through atleast 15 people, over a course of 4 months, before I lost track of it. There is no need to say the book is a people PLEASURE or pleaser.lol
