Rating: Summary: I Read This Book..... Review: a few months ago. It was my first book by this author. I liked the relationship between the hero and heroine. I subtracted two stars because, unlike some other reviewers, I felt that the book was written with modern sensibilities in mind. I just didn't feel that I was being transported back to the time written about.
Rating: Summary: sweet Review: this was a very sweet little young girl's romance with some big girl's sex scenes. I thought for a few short moments the author was going to do something dastardly to our hero and heroine: 'edward's ring, still hidden in her pocket, hit the floor with a fateful clink' & 'he thought he could live on this happiness for years. as it happened, thought, he only had a day' but this little tale remained unmarred by serious adversity of any kind. as sweet little romances go this was a good one. what I was doing reading it I have no idea.
Rating: Summary: So hot you will need the A/C for sure! Review: I love Emma Holly's erotic books! I started reading her in Black Lace (where she pulled out all the stops!) and now I am glad to see her doing more romance-type books too. For one, they are easier to find in the stores! This is a great storyline and still steamy, which is what I like in a romance!
Rating: Summary: Erotic Historical Romance Review: This book is historical romance at it's best. Edward is the man and Florence is the woman. I love that Emma Holly has written a believable romance with wonderful characters that feel 'right' in the time period. Far too many historical romances seem like modern women in costumes. I really enjoyed the story and to top it off the sexual tension is engaging and the sex scenes are HOT. I'm happy to tell you how thrilled I am to have a new favorite author of historcal romances.
Rating: Summary: VERY HOTTTTT Review: Okay, i didn't give five stars cause the situation is so contrived and you really dont get a feeling of love between them although they do have sex a lot! Its just that during the emotional scenes, your heart isn't pouding or you are feeling sympathy with any of the characters, in short, there is a lack of emotion within the book. Although, the sexual tension and scenes are quite HOT and it probably boosted a two star book into a four star.I you like sexy books with quick action and get to the point sex scenes, then this is the book. If you are looking for strong emotional scenes that tug at your heart, this isn't the book. I didn't cry once in the book. I did drink a lot of water!
Rating: Summary: So So Reading Review: The plot sounded promising enough and it was interesting in the beginning. Florence is a perfectly lovely character. Edward I truly liked. The sex was hot and wonderful. Their relationship was coming along nicely. Then Edward's former mistress came between them. Until this time Florence had seemed like a reasonable woman, if a bit naive. When the evil mistress comes around spinning lies however Florence believes them! Why would she believe a woman she barely knows over the man who has been her lover? This is never explained well. Freddy, Edward's cousin, is a great character. I thoroughly enjoyed him. Overall, it's a decent way to spend your time if you don't need one of the main characters to be too smart.
Rating: Summary: VERY SEXY!! Review: I have never read one of Emma Hollys books and was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked this book. Besides being very romantic, it was very sexy!! And the stud in this book is one HOT GUY!! Highly recommend!!
Rating: Summary: a very enjoyable romance with great love scenes Review: Emma Holly has created a wonderful book. This book has all the romance elements: a innocent, beautiful young woman who needs help. A wonderful widowed woman who takes her under her wing. A handsome Earl who tries to put everyone else before his own needs but finds himself so taken with the innocent woman that he can't help himself. The innocent is Florence. She has come to London to find a husband. She is a daughter of a vicar who after he passes away finds herelf alone and on the brink of disaster. She decides that she must find a husband who can take care of her and her maid. She isn't looking for love because she is very practical just security. Edward, the Earl is looking for a wife for his younger brother Freddie. The Earl is blown away when he first sees Florence. He agrees to help her without her knowledge and has his widowed aunt take her in. She has no idea of his plans for her and Freddie. The Earl's heart and body though have ideas of their own. He wants her so bad he aches. He tries to distance himself from her but can't. He craves not only her body but her love but tells himself that she is for Freddie. Florence falls for Edward but knows that she must marry Freddie. She is torn by her love and lust for Edward and her vow she has made to marry Freddie. Finally both cannot over ride their passions any longer and they come together in a most erotic scene. Its very sexual but also shows that this is much more than sex its love. But before this passion brings them closer they must still overcome several obsticals. I really enjoyed this book and read it in one day. I look forward to the sequel to this book that is due out soon.
Rating: Summary: DECEPTION FOR APPEARANCES Review: In BEYOND INNOCENCE, Emma Holly writes a beautiful story about family love between brothers, and the degree of deception and self-denial to which one of those brothers will go to protect the other. This book tells how young, naive Florence Fairleigh, fallen into poverty upon the death of her vicar father, is looking for a suitable husband for security sake. It seems almost miraculous that the "perfect" gentleman, Freddie Burbrooke, almost magically appears, and that in addition to being from a rich family, he also is handsome, charming and he likes Florence very much. Yet, as much as she returns his affection and enjoys his company, something is missing. That something is sensuality and passion. Florence is quite satisfied to forego the passion in a marriage with Freddie, but with his older brother, Edward, it's another story. Edward and Florence develop a love/hate relationship that each tries to deny, yet it's visible to everyone, even Freddie. Edward maintains an outward appearance of frigid control, but Florence is the only thing that can melt him. BEYOND INNOCENCE has extremely erotic scenes. It also deals with very real issues of homosexuality, love and denial. This is a wonderful book and a keeper.
Rating: Summary: Pleasantly Surprised Review: This was the first book I had read by Emma Holly. It was a wonderful story of Edward and Florence. The love scenes were hot and imaginative. Many words were used to describe the scene and make your blood boil. Emma Holly knows what it takes to stretch the lovemaking out just far enough and when to draw you into the story. You find yourself caring for Florence with her shyness but underlying strength. If only she can convince herself what she truly wants instead of what is proper. Edward is like many men-arrogant, prideful, honor bound. But passion is more powerful as soon he finds out. Great book! Highly recommend.
