Rating: Summary: NOT IMPRESSED Review: This is the first SL book I've read, and I was not impressed. I picked up right away that this is a series, but this book did not inspire me to order the other books. Not a keeper. I found it fairly boring and was not wild about the hero.
Rating: Summary: Great Story Review: This one is part murder mystery, part romance. The characters feel very real and the story draws you in. Ms. Laurens is a very talented author. She has a way with words, and everything she writes about, every detail and description, you can see. You can feel and smell the rain, you feel the emotions the characters are experiencing. In this book you follow along with two well-written characters as they try to uncover a murderer in a small English village. Highly recommended.
Rating: Summary: Lucifer is hot Review: This was a wonderful novel. Gabriel and Lucifer were my two favorite characters of the Bar Cynster. This novel starts right after Gabriels wedding. As usual, the male cynster is trying to outrun fate. Lucifer goes to visit an old friend and finds him dead. Not only that, but he ends up with a big bump on the head. I really enjoyed how he was stuck trying to figure out who hit him and who killed his friend. This book had some pretty funny little side stories in it. Phyllida didn't seem to be the most graceful of ladies. She was kinda like Flick in the Rogue's Proposal. She ran around in breeches and was head strong when it came to getting male protection. The love scenes in this book are hot. Lucifer has no shame and is quite obviously very comfortable with his body. He puts it to good use to please Phyllida. Stephanie Laurens knows how to capture a reader with her descriptiveness. She seems to have cornered the market on writing the perfect male. I haven't read one of her novels yet, where I had't wanted to be the female in it. None of her characters are weaklings and none of her stories leave with the incredible urge to slap some sense into one of the characters. As far as historical romance novels go, this one is a must have in your collection.

Rating: Summary: 6th in the series Review: Well out of all of the Cynster books this one was just a good book. It didn't thrill me like the 1st, the 3rd, and the 5th did. I found those books to be filled with more passion and I really liked the interaction between the main characters more. This one has a lot of mystery in it which did make for some excitement. Well it's Alasdair's turn. He's known to most as Lucifer and he's the last of the original Bar Cynster. He decides to leave London and the matchmakers to visit an old friend. When he arrives in Devon he finds his old friend dead and wakes with a aching head. How he gets that aching head is just as much a mystery as who killed his friend. He also finds his match, Phyllida. She is a strong, smart, savy business woman who like Lucifer wants to find the killer. Phyllida, has many suitors who have tried to get her to the alter but none have the stunning effect that Lucifer does. He makes resisting him the hardest thing she's ever done. She's not going to make it easy for him but when she does surrender to his love and passion, she finds all she will ever need. Oh and our old friend Chillingworth makes an apperance and gets more involved with the Cynsters than he ever wanted to. I have enjoyed this series so much and I eagerly look forward to reading about the next generation of Cynsters.
Rating: Summary: Unfulfilling Review: Well, I have read most of the other works in this series and I have to say that I was expecting better. I did love the intrigue, keeps you guessing for awhile. Honestly, I was expecting Lucifer, the male lead character to procrastinate a little more on the idea of him finding his true love. He was extremely adamant about not marrying, yet we don't hear much protesting at all after the third chapter. Hmmm. Save your money-check it out at your library instead.
Rating: Summary: Read this one- you'll be glad you did! Review: What a great final book to close out the Bar Cynster series! Lucifer did not dissapoint, and Stephanie Laurens wove a great love story in with a realistic mystery. I was surprised that anyone would give this book anything less than four stars- it really was well done. In fact, I thought it was right up there with Devil's Bride. If you like Stephanie Laurens and reading the stories of the Cynster men, then you'll love this book too!....END
