Summary: Internet dating...just like real life!
Review: Stormy Steele's first novel; Behimd The Screen is a tale of internet dating on a single's site. With so much contemporary fiction being published about relationships between African American men and women; I wondered if this would be another "you go girl book". I was wrong. I absolutely loved the protagonist in Stormy's book. Kyla's character was a strong woman with good values and not a desperate character looking for love in all the wrong places. I really appreciated her relationship with her kids and how she juggled her professional life, her parenting duties and her personal needs while doing a good job with all three.

Behind The Screen was a good read, an easy to follow tale of internet relationships that portrayed the members of Today's Singles.com as real people. It was funny and upbeat. Near the end she had you wondering what was going to happen. And the ending was a little bit of a surprise.

Kyla and Charles' relationship could have began with a chance meeting in the supermarket. It smacked of real life. There was a lot of realism in their journey to find happiness and love in a world where happiness and love can be so elusive.

Charles started out as a "player" using his internet connections to meet and use women. He was so bitter after his divorce that he couldn't find it in him to open up to love. He had no trust and was a real dog. Some of the women he ran into didn't help the situation any by feeding into his "baggage" and allowing him to use them. As he got to know Kyla, he began to respect her and he saw that he really liked her as a person, a friend.

Once he fell for her; he knew he had to change his ways to win her over. His respect and closeness to his father helped him to see the error of his ways too. And his best friend's indiscretion that almost caused him his life and in the end his marraige did much to help Charles find his way out of "doggy-dom". It was good to see a man change for the better.

I'd reccomend this book to anyone who likes contemporary fiction about male/female relationships. Although I prefer a meatier storyline; Behind The Screen is a splendid first effort by a very talented writer and I predict that Stormy Steele will soon become a familiar name in African American literature.

Summary: Insight into Cyberspace with Funny and Serious Situations
Review: Stormy, Stormy, Stormy. You did a wonderful job with this story. I enjoyed it all the way through. At the beginning, I wanted to choke some sense into Charles, but later I understood that he had to be a good man from the start. It's just that he was angry about the type of women, with no respect for themselves, that were approaching him. China Doll, well, that was some awesome payback. Your ending surprised the hell out of me. Didn't expect it, but damn glad it ended that way.

This book is funny, yet serious at the same time. It gave me some insight about cyberspace relationships and the desperations of both men and women. Even if a person isn't interested in dating via the Internet, this is without a doubt a book worthy of having. Great job, Stormy!!!!! Your next one should be even hotter.

Summary: Size doesn't matter, but what's "behind the screen"
Review: The mere title, "Behind the Screen" engages the reader's curiosity. Whether you are a novice, or pro or just plain nosy, this novel is a must read for anyone who dares enter cyberspace looking for a good time and/or true love. Staring into the eyes on the cover of Stormy Steele's debut novel, I wanted to see inside of her characters Kyla and Charles. As I turned each page, I got closer to the screen, the facade of the principals, suspecting there was more beneath the surface. Truly, Stormy Steele kept me entertained and glued to the screen, until she masterfully revealed what was indeed "behind the screen".

Summary: People Changing
Review: This book was very good reading. It's content was about Internet dating and the thing that may occur while using this type of dating but I also found it to be about how people can change their way of life and thinking. Change is good and this book shows how we as people should use our common sense and feeling to better ourself when it comes to relationships. I'm not a reader but this book kept my attention and I can't wait to read Stormy Steele next book.
