Rating: ![2 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-2-0.gif) Summary: Had promise but was Disappointing Review: I was looking forward to this book. It had a lot of potential. The beginning scene was very exciting and then......Well, somethings are just too good to be true. I have always been a great Coulter fan (I think I own every book), but I will think twice before I purchase her next book.
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: The Courtship is not as kinky as it first appears Review: This is the next story of the "Douglas and Alexandra" set. The story line constantly alludes to "discipline" but when it comes down to it the author doesn't follow through with this plot line. It is really a search for "the Lamp". I liked its Indiana Jones style adventure. Fairly fast paced and interesting storyline. It is also a nice way to tidy up this set. So don't think this will be to risque for you it is in keeping with others in this series.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Different, but Great! Review: Personally, I loved this book. It wasn't her best, and it had some gaps (small, tiny, teeny), but I loved it! It was very different. The incorporation of the Sherbrookes was great. I'm dying to get my hands on a copy of "The Sherbrooke Bride" and reread it. My only complaint (and not a big one at that) was the reuse of a scene from "The Duke". For those of you who have read it, it is the horseback-fall scene. It was different though, and since I loved that scene the first time, I don't mind rereading it. Overall, this book was WONDERFUL! A definate read for all Coulter and Non-Coulter (are there any? ) fans.
Rating: ![1 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-1-0.gif) Summary: HORRIBLE! Review: This is the first book I have read by this author and I hated it. With a plot that is as exciting as oatmeal (heavy, bland, and yes, slighty revolting) and characters so shallow they could drown in a teaspoonful of water, this book is one of the worst that I have read so far. My advice, unless you are a die hard fan, don't bother. Just wait until it is in your local library.
Rating: ![1 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-1-0.gif) Summary: Too much B&D, not enough plot Review: I was looking forward to reading Catherine Coulter's latest historical novel. Now I wonder why I bothered. The initial setup, with the overheard conversation about "discipline", held some promise for interesting plot twists. However, the resultant twists and turns were quite pedestrian and predictable. The love scenes were rather disappointing. Although they were plentiful and somewhat explicit, I found them more mechanical and sordid than romantic and enticing. Is drugging someone and tying them up without their consent and knowledge really romantic? (it is the hero in this novel, not the villain, who does this to the heroine!) The addition of characters from her previous novels was mildly interesting - it was fun to "catch up" with them, but their participation in the plot was rather gratuitous. As for the lamp - it seems like the author couldn't really figure out what to do with it or how to resolve this plot twist in the end. After raising out interest once it is discovered and glows mysteriously, it is rather quickly gotten rid of without tidying up the questions raised earlier in the novel. These questions are just as hastily buried and ignored at the end of the book. So, if you want a good romance fix and to spend some time in the company of her previous characters, dig out one of Coulter's older novels and give this one a miss.
Rating: ![3 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-3-0.gif) Summary: Almost...but not quite! Review: Was this book a rush job! The plot wasn't as well thought out as I have come to expect of Coulter. The chemistry between Helen and Spenser was great, but Lord Prith, Teeny, Flock and all of the other insignificant characters that were spotlighted wasted good space. The storyline with Gerard could have been a lot better. Good ideas that didn't come to fruition. Don't get me wrong, the book was entertaining, but Coulter can do better
Rating: ![3 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-3-0.gif) Summary: Not up to her usual standards Review: I found the storyline to be incompletely developed and weak. The characters were predictable and the frequent mentions of "discipline" were tiring and then revolting.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Totally Delightful! Review: This book was different than most of this period, and a complete blast! I loved it, from the overheard and deliciously sinful conversation that started it out, to the very end. It was a hilarious romp with two extraordinary characters that kept me giggling throughout. And bringing the Sherbrookes into the mix was wonderful, not only into the mystery, but into the 'discipline' as well made the story that much funnier! A MUST for all Catherine Coulter fans!
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Discipline + Comedy + Madcap Courtship = I like! Review: An unusual Amazonian heroine with a yen for discipline and an unrepetent rogue who loves women in all incarnations. Put them together and ... kaboom. Really.Ms Coulter somehow gets everything right in this book. The humor, the characters, the silly secondary characters, even the names of the secondary characters! There's plenty of laughter as the hero tries his best to get into the heroine's leather pantyhose without losing his heart in the process. Plenty of intrigue as a magical lamp, a horse-race mad preacher and Helen's champagne-mad father stir up trouble. And then there's the hero, a naughty lad who's a rogue with the easiest charm this side of the world. For a good time with two characters who make no apologies for their past and isn't afraid to take the plunge... - by all mean, dive in "The Courtship"! You'll have a grand time. I did.
Rating: ![1 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-1-0.gif) Summary: Don't bother. Review: I am surprised that books like this are allowed to be printed. All of Coulter's characters seemed to be high on coffee (or something else). Their dialogue was erratic and boring. The storyline...didn't exist and all in all this book was terrible. I have read books that are bad, but they can still be read. In THE COURTSHIP Coulter proved that she needs to retire. She is out of ideas and worse she has forgotten how to write. The hero is a womanizer and the heroine is a tease, and they both get together to find a genie in a lamp. The heroine of course is big on discipline (the heroine always needs a quirk or two) and the hero is big on having sex. I can't even say that the sex was fun to read, because it was boring. Written solely from the male point of view, this story should have been thrown into a trashcan after the first five pages.
