Summary: Another One Bites the Dust
Review: If you have been following the series of the Cynster Clan you know that Gabriel would have been the hardest of them all to fall. And fall he did....right into the arms of a person he has know a long time...Lady Alathea Morwellan. This spicy romance begins with Alathea deciding to dress up as a countess in distress to engage Gabriel's interst...what she didn't count on was the household staff and her maid getting sick...when Gabriel finds out....watch out....things start happening and love comes into the picture. But can Alathea really trust Gabriel to be in love or is it his protective instincts? You will have to read for yourself to find out.

Summary: first and best
Review: As with other readers, this was my first book by Stephanie Laurens and certainly hooked me on the genre. The atmosphere created by the author captivates on the first read and brings back for a second and third look even months later. With these brief words, I heartily recommend it and hope others will enjoy it as I did.

Summary: A Secret Love
Review: I have read other reviews (regular readers such as myself) and I found that one of the aspects that intrigued me about this story upset others who have read it and that was the "Countess" plot. I thought that this was hilarious and I couldn't WAIT for him to realize that the woman of his dreams was the same woman who he had grown to despise. This allowed the characters to explore their feelings, albeit confusing, and examine the actions and mistakes made. The scene in which her identity was revealed was TOTALLY, without a doubt, one of the most laugh out loud moments in the book (next to his fixation with her caps, this moment was PRICELESS). Out of all of the books, and I loved them all- this was the one to touch a chord within me and made me cry (Devil's Bride came darn close). I would undoubtedly recommend this book to anyone, especially those who have only just opened their eyes to finally "see" that love was always there waiting to be noticed...

Summary: A Sweet and Engaging Love Story
Review: This is the first book by Stephanie Laurens that I have read. After finishing it, I ordered every other book in the Bar Cynster series. Why? The author makes you care about the characters. Alathea and Gabriel are complicated people with a believeable past history. The way they interact with each other, their hopes and fears, and the blossoming of their love is truly touching. The love scenes are intense and passionate. I have read hundreds of romances and dozens of regencies, but this book is something truly special. Please read it! You'll fall in love, too.

Summary: a good read
Review: ...Secret Love has a much more interesting plot and a definately better heroine! The first part of the book, where they met without Gabriel knowing who she really was and tried to understand why he felt so strange when Althea was near, was a delight. The erotic scenes are hot and you can really feel the sparks between the two of them.
Also Chillingsworth who appeared in both books, is a very interesting role who deserves his own story.

Go on and read it, you certainly won't be disappointed, you may even love it!

Summary: Mysterious, alluring, disguised..
Review: It is all there. A beautiful lady in a thick black veil to disguise her when she begs Gabriel for help. This time a Cynster falls hard for the alluring Lady Alathea. She does a great job on a convincing story and all he asks for, as a reward, is a kiss. but when they keep meeting secretly, of course, it was to be expected. This book is as good as the insert art of John Desalvo. Loved them both.

Summary: Best in the series!
Review: This was my favorite book in the Cynster Series and I have read all six! Devil's Bride was also excellent, but there is serious chemistry between Gabriel and Althea, and I found Althea's charade exciting. (I should be fair and say that I read this one first even though it is fifth in the series)

If you love a good series with really good subplots, hot cousins, and loveable characters- try Stephanie Laurens! Can't wait for the spin-offs- Chillingworth's story and the twins.

Summary: Wonderful Book!
Review: I was not familiar with the Bar Cynster series when I found this book. Needless to say, "A Secret Love" made me go out and get the others. The characters were expertly written and I loved how they had never gotten along after becoming teenagers due to the heat between them. The way that Gabriel finally hands over his heart is perfect, the setup fot the final installment of the series is great, and I would recommend this book to anyone who believes that good things come to those who wait!

Summary: Another Cynster winner!
Review: There's nothing like discovering a new author you love and settling in to read the backlist. Stephanie Laurens is my new favorite, and I am having a great time reading all the Bar Cynster novels. These are the best Regency romances I've read in years. Don't worry about reading them in order. Other Cynsters make enough of an appearance to whet your appetite for more but not so much as to reveal the plots of the books you haven't read.

"A Secret Love" is the fifth in the series, and it is Gabriel's story. Althea Morwellan, Gabriel's childhood friend, is in dire financial straights and deperately needs his help. For a variety of reasons, she doesn't want to come right out and ask for his assistance; instead, she creates "the Countess", a mysterious figure deliberately designed to entice Gabriel. Now this next part requires a certain suspension of disbelief. Gabriel and the Countess, aka Althea, have some very steamy encounters, but Gabriel doesn't figure out that the two are one and the same. I, too, didn't buy it, but if you're willing to believe that Regency England was awash with gorgeous, sensitive, masculine, sexy men, you can probably live with this plot device. It leads to a very sweet story about two people finding love where they least expected it. Because of their shared history, there's a certain depth to Gabriel and Althea's romance that is quite appealing. Additonally, the story benefited from the fact that the characters were full-grown adults (32 and 33 years old) and approximately the same age. I really get tired of spunky, independent 18 year old virgins and jaded older males. All in all, this is a great regency romance and you'll have a great time reading it!

Summary: Wonderfully Alluring....
Review: "A Secret Love" is an absolutely wonderful book. It's sensual, romantic and my favorite book out of the Bar Cynster series. In fact, it's my favorite in my whole book collection. Rupert Cynster, more commonly known as Gabriel, is totally my ideal man: handsome, passionate, and protective of those he loves. Alathea Morwellan is a beautiful woman, who gave up her dreams of marriage and a family to help her family out of financial crisis. The story of these two soon-to-be lovers is magical. I highly recommend reading this book, as well as the rest of the Bar Cynster series
