Rating: Summary: I truly liked it..... Review: Now I read this book first. I couldn't find "Devil's Bride" so I started this book first (and now moving back to the 1st book in the series). Now having said that I liked this book. I can not compare this book to her first in the Bar series, but on the whole it was a good read. I'm in the understanding that a Cynster does drop their rake, rouge (what have you) character when the have met the women they want to marry. This seemed perfectly logical to me. And I have to agree with another reviewer who said that Patience lacked in depth of character. But she was still very likable. Enough babbling ... on the whole the book was great. The love scences where fabulous. There where a couple of times I wanted to smack both Vane and Patience up side they head for being so blind to the obvious... but then again I guess that's what made them seem more real and human. If you're read the first book go ahead and read the second ... and I'll go back and read the first. ; )

Rating: Summary: A thoroughly sensuous, romantic love story, Review: Rather than give a synopsis of the story, I will tell the reader to plan on spending several evenings with this book. I couldn't put it down. It is very romantic, sensuous and worth a second reading. I know I will read all of the Cynster books as they are published. Keep thyen coming, Stephanie. A devoted fan,
Rating: Summary: A RAKE'S VOW Review: STEPHANIE LAURENS DID IT AGAIN, GOOD READING. I LOVE ALL HER CHARACTERS. ROMANIC,SEXY AND FUNNY IT HAS EVERYTHING.
Rating: Summary: "Scandal's Bride" was better Review: The Cynster stories continue, this time with Vane Cynster fleeing the likelihood of match-making directly into the arms of a woman; one Patience Debbington. Now I like a romantic lark as much as the next person but this lacked the substance of the first book I read from Stephanie Laurens. While this one does include a bit of a mystery and a cast of characters, the romantic couple don't seem true to their original description at all. The book would have been much more palatable if Vane had actually remained for a longer period of time the "rake" he clearly appears to be 8 pages into the book. The female character Patience doesn't seem to have much going for her beyond her cat and her brother and as a reader you're lost as to how one conversation can toss out the preconseptions of a lifetime she, which she has against the smooth and cynical type of gentleman he appears to be. It's as if she has little if any backbone or real opinion of anything beyond caring for her 17 yr old brother and lusting after Vane. Laurens still writes a good-great love scene but her editor is obviously not getting paid much or just figures this is a romance book, so why bother. I say this because if "humphed" made more of an appearance in this book (and Scandal's Bride) you would think Laurens received money for each time it was used. She's a good writer so, it's surprising she doesn't stop herself from using this "word" all through a book and distracting to the person who is reading it. In short, characterization is weak, love scenes pretty good and maybe she needs to take about a year off to come up with a stronger plot.
Rating: Summary: Not what I expected . . . Review: This book is so excruciatingly slow and boring I couldn't get past the 5th Chapter. It had NOTHING to hold my attention.
Rating: Summary: A dissapointment after the first book of the series. Review: This book let me down. I enjoyed Devil's Bride so much that my expectations for Vane's story was really high. This did not turn out the way I thought. The characters were still in the style of Stephanie Laurens - strong heros and heroines - but there just was something missing in the storyline. The pace was a lot slower and Vane came off a little desperate towards the middle of the book. This would not have been a huge let-down if it were not for the wonderfulness of Devil's story. I will still look forward to the rest of the Cynsters though and hope that they're up to the standards of book 1.
Rating: Summary: Great Book! Wish I would have read the others first Review: This book will grab your attention and hold it through out the book, even if you have not read the others before it. The author kept my attention through out this whole book it was one that I found hard to put down. It wasn't hard to follow either, some series are hard to follow if you have not read the first and second, but not this one the author makes it very easy to fall in with the family and makes to want to find the other books so you can find out how rest of the family got together. I highly reccomend this book to any romance book lover, this one will get ya!
Rating: Summary: Booooooring!!!!!! Review: This is my third book by Stephanie Laurens, and unfortunately...I think its my last...I have tried to like this author, but I just cant do it. "A Rakes Vow" was sooo excruciatingly slow I wasnt even able to finish it...there was no plot..its just a bunch of way too long sex scenes broken up by chatting around the breakfast table...Not worth reading...
Rating: Summary: Fun, Romantic, Sensual Review: This is such a fun story. The characters are well formed and some are quite quirky, which all ad to the body of this story. When Vane Cynster seeks shelter from a storm at his godmother's home, he doens't expect to meet his destiny, Patience Debbington. Patience is instantly attracted to the handsome Vane, but is cautious when it comes to "gentlemen". Vane is euqally attracted, but this woman is living under his godmother's roof and he can't possibly follow his "baser" instincts and act upon them. To win Patience over he first must solve the mystery of the "Spectre" and a petty theif that are causing trouble for everyone. What ensues is a fun adventure and love found that will keep you glued to the book. This is the second in the series of the "Bar Cynster". Try and get them all, you'll be glad you did!
