Rating: Summary: Beautiful, Inspiring and "a Keeper" Review: Since so many people have already summarized the plot--and by the way, a few of these reviews have spoilers in them, which is too bad--let me just say that I was completely swept away. The part between the young lovers in the first few chapters of the book was so believable and sweet. This is the first book I have ever read by Ms. Kleypas, and I was really impressed with the maturity of the characters and the depth of their emotions. Now I'm going to read everything of hers I can get my hands on! Again The Magic is on my keeper shelf for good.
Rating: Summary: I will read this book regardless .... Review: ... of a poor review written by a very stupid person. Instead of spending her (?) time writing nasty reviews, biblimaniatic ought to return to elementrary school and review her grammer and spelling.
Rating: Summary: I adored this book!!! Review: I've read all of Lisa K's novels and I just want to say that this is the best of them. I think what makes this book really incredible is that I understood the heroine so well. A lot of heroines don't make sense to me. But I totally understand what she was doing (I don't want to say because I might wreck the story for someone who hasn't read it). What's great is that this book is a historical and yet the problems really are the same today. And the sex -- wow. It's HOT!
Rating: Summary: Lisa Kleypas's best! Review: If you like stories of love lost and found, this is the book for you. I've never read it told so well, and while I like Lisa Kleypas's books, I think she moved to a whole new dimension with this one. I read it all in one night, absolutely swept away by the love story, and no book has kept me up all night for a long time. Simply the best book I've read in a year. BUY THIS BOOK!
Rating: Summary: Two terrific love stories by Lisa Kleypas Review: I did not agree with some of the negative reviews of this book. I thought it was fabulous. The characters were so well written and Lisa Kleypas never ceases to amaze me in that she has a talent with making you really care enough about her characters to keep turning the pages. The hot love scenes are terrific, but not the reason I read a book. It has to hook me with the people involved, and she does that with a flourish. She has done so with both of the love stories concerning these two sisters. Yes, McKenna is brooding as a hero, but so was so many heros we have fallen in love with. You will not regret buying this book!
Rating: Summary: it's a very disappointing book, DON'T READ IT!!!! Review: MEN!,but I like mrs. Lisa's books a lot, but actually this book is her worst, most pathethic book I ever read of her, and I've read all of them. the charecters almost don't appear in it, the story could be of the sister's charecter because she appears more in the story than even the handsome "hero," I'm relly disappointed of this book. this story is really off the hook it's almost as if she hadn't been the one writing it. it sucks guys don't waste your money on IT! I bought it and I wished I hadn't LISA KLEYPAS THIS IS NOT YOUR STYLE
Rating: Summary: Ho-Hum Review: I am not a great fan of the 'great misunderstanding' plot device. And not much character development went on with the major characters. We were 'told' not 'shown' what they were like. That said, I loved the 'secondary' romance between Livia and Gideon. I found it much more interesting and less predictable. For me, they stole the book. [And I can't help wondering if they did for Kleypas too, since she ended the book on their story.] This is the last Kleypas I will just buy off the shelf without reading reviews first. She's like the little girl with the curl, 'when she's good, she's very good, and when she's bad, she's horrid.'
Rating: Summary: Depressing! Review: I found this book super depressing and decidedly unromantic. Of course, I should have been warned with the word "revenge" in the book summary. For those of you who enjoy an uplifting, heart-warming, romantic story, avoid this book! This book is 390 pages long - less than 20 contain any happiness (in my opinion). I was disappointed, because it could have been a very sweet story ~ alas, it was not. If I hadn't bought it, I wouldn't even have finished it - however, I was determined to get my money's worth. Honestly, I would now pay to have this hauntingly sad, pointless tale out of my mind. I'm sure Lisa Klepas is a talented author - it is the story she choses to tell in "Again the Magic" that I object to.
Rating: Summary: Love soap operas? This is the book for you! Review: Lisa Kleypas trots out all of of the old tried and tired formulas: 1.Young forbidden lovers permanently separated by a cold overbearing father. 2. Hero sent to a brutal taskmaster, he escapes, makes his fortune, swears vengeance. 3. Heroine disfigured in freak accident however scars are hidden but emotional scars are not, heroine remains a virgin. 4. Hero returns rich and successful to exact vengeance. 5. Hero and heroine rekindle their love. All is well. Happy ending.Slap on a more modern slant and you have the plot to a Melrose Place episode. Can you say melodrama? And the secondary plot was more of the same histrionics. Not a real likable character in the bunch. I couldn't finish this book. Don't waste your money. If interested in Lisa Kleypas buy some of her earlier titles.
Rating: Summary: A book to buy! Review: I love this Author, and never read one of her books that I did not like. This was no exception. I loved how it was a different kind of story. Not the usual Duke, or Viscount, but an ordinary man. It was very romantic, and I liked the way the sister's story, is told in the same book, making it two good books in one. They blend and tug your heartstrings. Romance at its best, when you feel it in your heart, it is a book to buy.
