Summary: I'd give this 4 1/2 stars if possible. I loved it!
Review: I am a new reader of Lisa Kleypas' novels. I have to say, I just love her style. It is easy to read, romantic, and sexy. This book, in particular, is a great read. I found the storyline to be interesting and the sex scenes are HOT. There is one in particular on pages 262-266 that took my breath away!

I also like the subplot of the romance between Livia and Shaw. It was like having twice the romance in one book.

After I read "Again the Magic," I went out and bought 3 more Kleypas novels. I hope to write more rave reviews for those books as well.

Summary: A low 4 stars.
Review: Victorian Romance Pudding.
Ingredients: one tortured hero (born illegitimate within the servant ranks); one heroine (born within the upper classes); one arrogant father (good choice an earl); and for a smooth texture (one kindly housekeeper).
Instructions: upon discovery, furiously separate the entangled teenagers; shake their love violently; cast their fates into the wind; and then wait twelve years.

In 1844, John McKenna comes back to England, to the household of his youth, Stony Cross, Hampshire. He returns as a very successful, wealthy American businessman. He returns a bitter man seeking revenge against the woman who haunts his dreams turning them into lustful nightmares. Twelve years have past, but twelve years have left Lady Aline Marsden unmarried, still beautiful, with painful nightmares of her own.

Lisa Kleypas has written a pleasant read, but it didn't knock my socks off. The entire story is a tale of revenge and dignity. Reprisal and anger gripping McKenna; pride and vanity trapping the once flawless Lady Aline. Thrown in for good measure the author simultaneously runs a second romance involving McKenna's business partner and Aline's younger sister. Both are tormented souls who find gentle relief in each other. This secondary storyline was a good idea; otherwise, the reader would have drowned in the dark icy waters of punishment.

Summary: totally tedious
Review: This book easily has to be one of her worst. There is no spark in either of the two couples, and one good conversation between Aline and McKenna would have put an end to all the suffering and pain.
Also, there is no falling in love inthe novel except between the two lesser characters Livia and Gideon. Aline and McKenna are already in love and hot and heavy at the start of the book, then 12 years lapse. he wants revenge, doens't get it, and we get nothing but cookie-cutter love scene which vary only in terms of venue and position.
With Livia and Gideon they go to bed with each other too quickly. Having two couples in the book waters it down way too much for my liking. And I have to say Gideon was far more interesting than McKenna.
Can someone please tell these authors that a romance novel is two people falling in love?
One other small point-there were so many typos in this book, missing words, wrong words obviously inserted by a spellchecker, that it really got very irritating. The whole thing looked and read as completely slapdash.

Summary: I love Lisa Kleypas....(4 1/2 stars)
Review: I think that Lisa Kleypas is a brilliant writer. I snatch up everything that she puts out there. IMO, she is only getting better. That being said, I LOVED this book. I absolutely adored McKenna. Aline was a wonderful character as well, but I found her lack of faith in McKenna's love exasperating at times...though I did understand her fears. SO, why not 5 stars?
Well, there was a strong secondary romance in this book-too strong. It was between Mckenna's friend Gideon, and Aline's sister Livia. The problem here was that Gideon and Livia were so likeable and their romance took up such a substanial part of the book, that I felt that it came dangerously close to overshadowing the central players and their love story. All in all, I think that this was a fast, romantic read. I admire Ms. Kleypas. I think that her writing style is unbelievably smart and I look forward to her next release.

Summary: Amazing story of a second chance at love
Review: Lisa Kleypas's newest novel is a delight to read. The story of John McKenna and Aline Marsden is a romance to be cherished. This story will make you laugh, cry, and rejoice in the power of love.

McKenna was a stable boy at Aline's estate when she was growing up. They fell in love as young adults, but both knew that it could go nowhere. Nevertheless, they both hoped that their love would be able to stand the test of time. Unfortunately, Aline's father discovers their affair and forbids Aline to ever see McKenna again. She breaks things off with him, but knows that he will always be her true love.

Twelve years later McKenna returns to Stony Cross Park a self made man in America with more money than he could ever hope to spend. He plans to get revenge on Aline for her supposed heartless rejection of him years ago, but things don't go as planned as he once again comes under Aline's spell. A charming subplot involving Aline's sister Olivia and McKenna's business partner Gideon Shaw also make this story one not to be missed.

This story also features Lord Marcus Westcliff, Aline's older brother, who will be the hero in an upcoming Lisa Kleypas story. Again the Magic is just that, magical. I love Kleypas's writing style, her strong characterizations, and her ability to convey all the emotions of love in a very honest fashion. Again the Magic is a book not to be missed, and if you are a new Kleypas fan, this book would be a great one to start out with.

Summary: Ms. Kleypas Has Penned Another Winner!!!
Review: I love storylines where the main characters share a history that goes way back. This is true for this book where our heroine is the daughter of an Earl and her love interest is a servant that worked in the stable. They started out as the best of friends trying to forget the fact that it was not a proper relationship and that it could never go any farther. Despite the fact that they could never share their lives as husband and wife their feeling for each other grow until they both admit that they love each other. McKenna knows that Aline is out of his reach but he would do anything to stay close to her. Despite the care that they take in order to spend time together they are spotted and the Earl is told of the meeting. McKenna is sent away thinking that Aline never cared for him, and Aline is left behind mourning the only man she will ever love.

Years later McKenna returns to Aline as a wealthy American bent on revenge. He never slept with her as a teen he is going to fix that mistake. Of course McKenna is not aware of the truth that sent him away, nor is he aware of the tragedy that befell Aline not long after he left. What he was also not planning on was the fact that his feelings for Aline have never gone away. He still finds that he loves her despite what he thinks that she has done.

Aline has never forgotten McKenna and the man that he has grown to become is just as handsome and desirable as the young man he had been. She knows that he wants his revenge and she is willing to let him have it if it means that she will be in his arms once again.

This was such a moving story and I was totally drawn into it from the very beginning. There is the secondary storyline that involves her sister and McKenna's business parter that is equally moving. This story has all of the trademark Kleypas sensualtiy as well as the wonderfully crafted characters and storyline. This story had me reaching for my kleenex on more then one occassion. For a wonderful senual read you can't beat Ms. Kleypas.

Summary: So far, best book this year....
Review: Anything with Lisa Kleypas' name on it is an autobuy for me. She's one of the few author's who can hook me from the first page to the last. This book was no exception. I loved the way the book started off with the couple already very much in love and well into their relationship. I loved the secondary characters and their storyline. I loved the supporting characters. I found Shaw's flawed character and the way Kleypas dealt with his problem fascinating for a romance novel.

With such positive points, this book almost rated 5 stars for me, save two little annoyances. First, the heroine's name is Aline. One of my big pet peeves is not knowing how the author intended for a characters name to be pronounced. For the life of me, everytime I read A-L-I-N-E, I thought A-line. As in, an a-line skirt. Is her name pronounced uh-lyne, ahh-lyne, ahh-leen, uh-leen, a-leen? I never could decide. Secondly, near the end of the book, I began to really become irritated with Aline and her resolve to let McKenna walk out of her life again, just because of her vanity. McKenna said it best himself when Aline finally told him why they couldn't be together. "How could you think that I wouldn't want you? You've put us both through hell for no reason!"

Summary: Dark, passionate and sensual-an authentic Kleypas.
Review: This book was a very good read. A little different from other Lisa Kleypas books since in this one, she features two stories, instead of concentrating just on the lead couple. But it was fine, because the secondary characters (who were not so secondary at all) were very likeable and added a nice element to the story.

The only complain I have is with Lady Aline behavior towards the man she has loved all her life. I could understand why she had to drive him away the first time, and even shed a few tears at those scenes, but I could not understand how she could possibly be willing to let him walk away a second time just out of misguided vanity.

These are two people who shared a passionate love when they were just teenagers, and even though they have been apart for 12 long years, they still love each other. I am awed and marveled at such a great love. I thought that Aline would come around eventually and realize that it was preferable to take a risk and give their love a chance, instead, if it hadn't been for her brother, she would have let the love of her life walk away for a second time, brokenhearted and miserable before revealing her secret.

I'm not saying that her reason was trivial. I'm sure having to deal with disfiguring burn scars from an accident, even if it is only on the legs must be very traumatic. But I kept hoping that her love for McKenna would overcome her fears, and when she didn't realize that she could trust him on her own, that dissapointed me a litte, and that was the reason I did not give this book 5 stars.

However, except for that minor issue, the book was very emotional, passionate and sensual. I would definitely recommend it. Lisa Kleypas is still one of my favorite authors.

Summary: Depressing, Dark and Heavy
Review: I am a huge Lisa Kleypas fan, but this book was not for me. The love scenes actually made me cringe. I didn't think it was romantic at all and I was just ready for the whole story to be over. McKenna's desire for revenge was so powerful that I didn't even like him...and I thought the heroine was a ninny. Life's too short to read something this depressing.

Summary: Relive the magic
Review: Kleypas is no stranger to crafting dark sensual romance with textured characters (Worth Any Price & Lady Sophia's Lover)and her latest treads the forbidden passion between Lady Aline Marsden and orphaned stable boy John McKenna. Again the Magic follows the conventional storyline of a doomed romance in the hierachical British peerage system with little surprises, but Ms. Kleypas draws her characters with empathy and heart. Readers will be captivated by the dark and angst-ridden McKenna who comes back to Stony Cross Park to wage vengeance after being spurned by Lady Aline twelve years ago and the flawed Lady Aline who can't trust McKenna enough to love her for her heart and not her body. They are all too human with foibles readers can identify - and along with the spunky Livia and a secondary romance developing between Livia and debonair charmer Gideon Shaw (who is an alcoholic), Again the Magic is consistently engaging even though it lacks the more intricate plotting in Ms. Kleypas' previous efforts. Ms. Kleypas clearly weaves her magic in this gratifying read, even though it is nowhere near her representative works.
