Rating: Summary: Sensual and delicious Review: A great sequel to "To Marry the Duke." Rawdon is very hunky and sexy, and Clara is a bit wild and incautious. These two can't stay away from each other, but they discover more than passion as Rawdon finally deals with his past hurts even as both of them deal with those who have and would destroy their happiness. Well-written and enjoyable, though sometimes Clara is too trusting, which doesn't seem to jive with some of her experiences. Little problems like that, plus a somewhat restrained emotional quality, lead to the 4 stars instead of 5
Rating: Summary: Fantastic! Review: A totally fresh look at London's marriage mart. Everything in this book takes the old and makes it fresh and exciting. An Affair most Wicked has intense romance, wit, sizzle and redemption! Not to mention at least a few scenes worth reading over and over!!!
Rating: Summary: WOW Pleasantly surprised Review: After reading her first book I felt that the author could write, but To Marry a Duke just did not get me to say WOW! But her second in the series is wonderful. It actually avoids many of the romance cliches and develops two intelligent characters that talk to each other. In the end readers will understand why and how they fell in love. Both characters are very human and lovable. I cant't wait until Adele's story.
Rating: Summary: Great story! Review: AN AFFAIR MOST WICKED caught me from Page 1. The romance is hot and steamy! But it's the developing love story that really caught my attention. For once, the level of attraction between the hero and heroine is deeper than just a strong case of lust. It was fun to follow the romance as their mutual attraction slowly turned to love. Another thing I liked about the story was the American heiress heroine. Her very American reactions to Victorian England society made me laugh. Her nationality brought a freshness to the story that wouldn't have been there if she'd been a British heiress. It's a great read!
Rating: Summary: its ok.. Review: based on the previous reviews i thought this book would be better then it actually was. the first half of the book was pretty good, but after the got married, the doubts and the mistrust between the two of them just got really annoying. it seemed to be the sterotypical oh you don't trust me kind of scenario.
Rating: Summary: A NOVEL MOST NONSENSICAL Review: I completely agree with the comments of the reviewer from New York. How long did it take for the author to write this book, a day? Let me cut to the chase. Here's what's wrong with this novel:
It was completely implausible - Are readers supposed to believe that well brought up ladies, one married to a Duke, would attend a sex party? Okay, the first time it was a case of mistaken address (even though that was pretty stupid), but the second time the heroine convinces her Duchess sister to take her - a young, single woman -- there. That's ludicrous.
There was no reason for some of the plot twists. Having Clara mistakenly attend a sex party was mildly interesting. Having her attend a second time voluntarily was pointless. And what about the letters exchanged between Clara and Seger? That was pointless since nothing ever came of it. It's as if the author brainstormed on "sexy incidents" and came up with a hodgepodge of things that she added indiscriminately to the story.
Much like the prequel to the novel (TO MARRY THE DUKE), the heroine here is aggressive. She pursues the hero ad nauseam. Some authors are able to pull this off, but Julia McLean is not one of them.
I finally gave up on reading it. I just couldn't stand it anymore. I'm disappointed because I'm always on the lookout for a new talent in the romance writing field, but I guess I'll have to keep looking. If you really are looking for a quality romance novel that has it all (romance, great love scenes, interesting characters), check out Galen Foley's novels.
Rating: Summary: An Affair Most Awesome! Review: I just finished Julianne MacLean's latest book, and it was amazing! This book is everything a historical romance should be, and as a life-long reader, I am happy to be adding Ms. MacLean to my keeper shelf alongside my favorites from Mary Balogh and Jo Beverley. An Affair Most Wicked is full of great historical atmosphere, but of course, center stage is the love story. It's at times scorchingly sexy and heartbeakingly tender. The hero is beyond hot! I only wish I could date him... Bravo, Ms. MacLean!! I can hardly wait for the next instalment of my beloved American Heiress series.
Rating: Summary: Couldn't put it down! Review: I lost a fair bit of sleep over this book as I simply could not put it down. The author had a long way to go to make me like this book even more than TO MARRY A DUKE, the first in the series, but she succeeded and then some. The characters were vividly drawn and the hero, Seger, was one of the best I've ever come across. You loved him instantly. Clara is strong and well thought out, and the plot flows from one event to the next to keep you rivetted. There is a line on page three that reads something to the effect 'Death was rather permanent in that regard' that still resonates. If you're a lover of historical romance, buy this book. If you aren't, buy it anyway and you soon will be.
Rating: Summary: Very Enjoyable Review: I love that book and i recomend you to buy it. Clara, an american girl, has come all the way to London to find respectability and to marry a peer. In a ball she meets Seger, a man stunning and very, very sexy but, definitely not the respectability model ... The book is great but you will enjoy it more if you read first "To Marry the Duke" (clara's sister story)
Rating: Summary: sensual and romantic. Review: I love this book definally is not a was of money, is funny and refreshing. definally worth reading.
