Rating: Summary: Finally Jeremy Mallory gets his story Review: A Loving Scoundrel is Jeremy Mallory's story. Finally and well done are all I can say. I read it in one night, couldn't put it down. Jeremy's immediate recognition of Danny as a girl is funny and reminecent of James' discovery of George's deception in Gentle Rogue. I loved Jeremy's wit and Danny's confusion at her reactions to Jeremy. Having been disguised as a male for the last 15 years, she now thinks like one and it definitely takes some getting used to...being a female and all those female feelings. It was great fun to see some of my favorite charaters, James and Anthony Mallory, Regan Eden. This Mallory story is wonderful and fits perfectly with Jeremy. Now the next one we need is Drew Anderson. Yum!~! Johanna, I hope that's the next one you write. Congratulations on a great read.
Rating: Summary: A Loving Scoundrel Review: As with all of the other Malory books, this was a great story. It did not have as much suspense as I would have thought, but the way they have the men fall for their women regardless of social status is great. It also shows how he has grown into a fantastic man throughout all of her novels before hand. I must admit that "Say you love me" is one of my favorites. Now all we need is to some more books on the Andersons. Drew would be the perfect one to right about. Hope to see it soon.
Rating: Summary: Lousy "hero"-no romance to speak of Review: Danny, on the run as a child fell into a life of a boyhood thief. She has done what she needed for survival and to avoid a career in prostitution.
She is captured by Jeremy and forced to steal from a lord. This theft causes her to lose her one source of security-the gang she has run with since childhood. Upon finding herself with no where to go, she confronts Jeremy and begs for a job. He refuses, therefore, she blackmails him into a job as his maid. (A position that he needed filling)
This is another of Lindsey's novels where the hero is not at all heroic. Jeremy repeatedly sexually harasses her to the point of riduculously. He has no empathy for her life...even though he was brought up on the docks as a child. He treats our heroine like dirt. He bullies her and gets her drunk to "convince" Danny to have sex with him. That is not ok. That is NOT sexy. There are no redeeming qualities about this guy. He talks about her like dirt with EVERYONE.
I strongly recommend you NOT buy this book.
Rating: Summary: WONDERFUL! Review: I absolutely adored this story! My favorite romance novels are series about families, and the Malory story line is no exception-in fact, it is my favorite romance series. I hadn't heard that a new Malory story was on the shelves, so I was VERY pleasantly surprised to find it the other day. This has been one of my favorite stories to date. I thought Ms. Lindsey developed both the well-known and new characters beautifully, especially Danny-a spunky heroine from the wrong side of the tracks who brings a lot of humor into the story. I highly recomend reading this book.
Rating: Summary: Enjoyable, predictable and thoroughly unoriginal Review: I do not particularly like Johanna Lindsey's writing style although I enjoyed some of the earlier books in her Malory series. The family is made up of amusing characters. But they seem like carbon copies of each other. The leading male characters are all handsome, boorish chauvinists and I find that the exceptionally handsome women often cross the line between being strong and independent and stupid and silly. So,it is probably a good thing that Lindsey does not come out with a Malory book very often.I liked the heroine of this book.Like other females in this series who are not from the Malory family she was in trouble and a Malory man helped her out.She was also "beneath him" initially but miraculously found her very respectable roots.Considering the number of females in this family who have such an unusual occurrence in common, this family should be in the Guinness book of world records.Anyway,Lindsey managed to give the heroine some spunk and cut down on the silliness. The dialogues and humor were the saving graces of this book.I also liked catching up with other members of the family. You do not need to have read the other books in the series to be enjoying this one because background information is provided on all the previous couples. If you get over the feeling that you have read a similar story by Lindsey before then you can begin to enjoy this, laugh a few times and savor the feeling of having spent your time enjoyably by revisiting old acquaintances.
Rating: Summary: Disappointing Review: I enjoyed Lindsey's earlier Malory books years ago, and have been waiting for Jeremy's installment. I think my tastes have matured because the book was incredibly disappointing. Perhaps it could have overcome Jeremy's lack of personality if Lindsey had even a basic knowledge of Regency England. As it is, she displays little knowledge of the peerage, language, social customs, etc. that it's hard to concentrate on the story. Really, it's not THAT hard to understand rank and her story would work just as well if she could get it right.
Rating: Summary: Finally Review: I have been waiting forever, like many other Malory family fans for Jeremy Malory's story. I was so surprised, and delighted to have stumbled upon it a few weeks ago. I read many of the reviews and was a little disappointed because though most liked it, most had something negative to say about it. I thought that it was great. I thought it was funny, very sexy, and I highly recommend it. I thought that Danny was the perfect match for the charming Jeremy. And it was great how Mrs. Lindsey revisited the history of the Malory family, and most of its members to give new readers a taste but not too much to cause boredom for the old. Yet to be a little hypocritical, I do wish that it had contained more love scenes, instead of glossing over most. There have been some comments about Jeremy taking advantage of the fact that Danny was drunk. It's a historical romance novel. The female lead is usually seduced during some state of vulnerability or extreme circumstance to justify their fall from virginal grace and show their difference from the females of loose morals. If it had been a modern romance novel then I agree it would have been a little inappropriate but in a age where teenage girls have a season to search out a husband and are expect to do nothing but shop and beautify themselves all day, I think the seduction should be view in a different light. In the end, I thought the book was great and I give it two thumbs, with my sincerest thank you to Mrs. Lindsey.
Rating: Summary: Interesting and Fun Review: I have over the years enjoyed the Lindsey series about the Malory clan. In this book we again meet the Malory's with young Jeremey Malory taking top billing. He is a 25 year old bachelor who is not looking for love. In comes Danny a young pickpocket who has been a "boy" for the past fifteen years so she will not be forced into the worlds oldest profession. Through twists and turns Lindsey tells their tale, with a lot of fun and laughter along the way. Danny is a fun character and of course so is Jeremy. The supporting cast of Malory's makes the story a trip down memory lane because it reminded me of the other books I read in the Malory saga. I would recomend this book to any one who enjoys Lindsey and her style of writing. I read the whole book in one sitting and couldn't put it down. Fun, fear, and laughter all in one book. Great read. The only negative thing I can think of is there is always the hook of the woman being of the nobility which I find contrived. If I am realistic though isn't the whole thing contrived and I am reading these books to enjoy not analys.
Rating: Summary: Mixed Feelings Review: I kind of have some mixed feelings about this one. I liked the heroine and I liked the fact that the plot was different. I did not like the hero, it just seemed like Jeremy wasn't well developed. I also thought that the book focused more on the sex than romance. Overall an ok read but not a keeper for me.
Rating: Summary: What can I Say? Review: I love all the Malory's really. Jeremy was my favorite for along time but I felt let down in this one. He was... I don't know, lacking I guess would be a good way to put it.He seemed to stereotypical. Nothing much to him slightly two-dimensional. He didn't seem to be as much as a scroundel as every one said he was, Tony and James were worse than him and well, if it hadn't been for the additional Malory's in the story I don't think I would have liked this book that much. I did like Danny, though. She was fine but it did seem a bit impossibble for her to go form a maid to a debutante with in 48 hrs. Not realistic, in my opinion. It was a decent book and if you have nothing else to do it's a good read. It is satisfying but not worth the twenty I paid for it.
