Rating: Summary: What a knock-out! Review: I can't say enough good things about this book--it was just fantastic! Of the three things I've read lately (LIFE OF PI, BARK OF THE DOGWOOD by McCrae, and THE MACKADE BROTHERS) this one is the best! What's so amazing is that you usually get a great story OR a well-written book from an author, but in this case you get both--highly unusual for anyone in my opinion. I'm not usually one for this genre of fiction, but Roberts has outdone herself in this case. Don't be fooled into thinking this is some sappy romance--there's enough there for anyone, regardless of his or her taste in literature. I was down for the count on this one--a true knock-out!
Rating: Summary: A good quick read Review: I like to think I've read everything written by Nora Roberts, and then another set of republications comes out and I find myself in error. Usually, I thoroughly enjoy her characters, in particular the strong women who have minds of their own. And what kind of reader of romance novels would I be if I didn't love those brooding handsome men who realize the error of their ways and let themselves love with their whole heart. Nora Roberts rarely disappoints me in those two things. One thing I enjoy about Nora's books is that they often connect characters together from book to book. The MacKade Brothers series has started off with two strong-willed women and two equally strong-willed men. The haunting aspect is a nice twist, but if you're reading all four stories (Rafe, Jared, Devin and Shane) back to back it becomes a little tedious. All in all, a good read for a quick romance fix.
Rating: Summary: I've read them all and await the next Review: I'm the first to admit that I'm a sucker for a bestseller, taking my cue from the NY Times list or even Oprah. And while I'm happy enough with their suggestions, such as Living History, Bark of the Dogwood, or even The Purpose Driven Life, I have to go back to what I know and love. Enter Nora Roberts. You can't go wrong with ANY of her books, and Rafe and Jared is about as good as it gets. My other favorite is Suspicious--just read it and LOVED it!!!
Rating: Summary: SIM retreads from the 90s, but diverting reads Review: Nora did the MacKade brothers about 10 years ago for Silhouette Intimate Moments. So check your Nora shelves if you keep her. You likely already have these. If you don't they are not Nora at her best, but they are very enjoyable tales of four sexy lady killers who fight love and romance until the right lady comes along. These puts two of the tales under one cover. In the Return of Rafe MacKade, brother Rafe was the town rebel. This is really the best of the four, in my opinion. Regan Jones is the staid antiques dealer who claims the badder than bad boy Rafe has no affect on her. What self-respecting bad boy could resist that challenge? Jared was the attorney. Dead opposite of Rafe. Yet still sexy with that black hair and bedroom eyes, so he had not been short on the women queueing up to take a crack and bringing him down. His dealings with Savannah Morningstar starts our as just business. But the sexy Savannah keeps crowding his mind. (The Pride of Jared MacKade - Silhouette Intimate Moments). So as with the other MacKade duo, be careful to check and make sure you don't already have these. If you don't, they are not Nora at her best, but bloody close. Great rainy day read.
Rating: Summary: I've read them all and await the next Review: The MacKade Brothers are one of the best NR series ever. About four brothers who got into a little (Well a lot) of trouble when they were little and now have grown up. It kicks off with the baddest of the four Rafe who returns to Antietem,MD and meets up with Regan who moved to town four years ago. Then picks up with Jared the lawyer who has to inform new recluse Savannah Morningside of her father's death and is attracted to her. For those of you who have been disillusioned by Birthright and Three Keys-The MacKade brothers will reminded you why you started reading NR in the beginning. Each of the brothers are very likable and so are the women they are paired with.

Rating: Summary: Return of the MacKades Review: This is a re-issue of one of NR's best series, the MacKade Brothers. Silhouette Intimate Moments #631, The Return of Rafe MacKade, and Silhouette Special Editions, #1000, The Pride of Jared MacKade. Bad boys who grow up to be good, but not too good to be boring. Haunted battle grounds from the Civil War era make the setting. NR's hallmark strong women with a sense of humor. Classic NR at her best.
