Summary: More erotica than romance
Review: This is not a traditional romance, where only the main couple make out with each other. This is more erotica, with some unusual sexual twists, futuristic connotations, a very different sexual culture, etc. So don't expect this to be politically correct or realistic. It's fantasy with sex and romance and adventure. If you're concerned that people will think this reflects what women want, or how men should act in real life, then this is not the book for you. This book is for those who are more sexually adventurous in their readings, know when how to keep reality and pure flights of fantasy separate, and don't expect earth-bound customs/behaviour/cultural norms/sexual practises from a futuristic, fantastic, space adventure. Enjoying the unreal escapism of this book, I loved it. If you're all for the fantastical, not-worried-about-this-being-dangerous-to-your-sense-of-morality-in-real-life, then I highly recommend it to you. If you're expecting a traditional romance like some of the other reviewers, and are easily shocked/offended by non-politically correct behaviour, maybe you should skip this, it's not for you. Very mature readers only.

Summary: Romance and erotica
Review: This series is just down right hot. Empire's New Clothes is the first in Jaid Blacks series and it starts out steaming and go from their. It is about a different star system than earths. The men of this system are very very alpha, there mates once found are taking back to there home and thats when the fun starts. This alternate world that Ms Black has made is way out there but in a good way. I love this series and if you like romance that lets you know just what is going on in the bedroom than this ones for you. Make sure the kids don't get ahold of this one because nothing is taboo.

Summary: My first time and it was PHENOMINAL
Review: This was my first Jaid Black book and my first Romantica ebook.

What a hot, funny, sizzling, adventurous read! I recommend this book to anyone who loves sexy paranormal adventure.

The characters are fully developed, three-dimensional people. Zor is the High King and Emperor of his world. A world where women are scarce and have to be... "imported". Kyra turns out to be his sacred mate and when Zor comes to claim her, the adventure begins!

The world Ms. Black creates is as full and richly developed as her characters. Reading how Kyra adapts to the customs of her new world, and how Zor adapts to having a sacred mate was a ride I did not want to end. It was sweet, romantic and hot hot hot hot! Whew!

Sexually, this book is not for the timid. It is honest and direct with out all the purple prose that can get so silly you laugh out loud during "the" crucial scene. Sometimes it is down right inspirational! You and your significant other will reap the benefits.

The second book in the series was just as sexy. I cannot wait for the third installment! Thank the Goddess Zor has brothers!

In the mean time Tia Isabella and Treva Harte are filling in *very* nicely ;) in the romantica time travel department.

I have read all of Ms. Black's efforts to date and haven't been dissapointed. Keep up the excellent work

Summary: Dumb, dumb, dumb...
Review: This was the dumbest book I've ever read. I just can't understand why so many readers rated it so highly. I can only surmise that they haven't read really good erotica, or erotic romance. The only promising thing about this story was its premise. Everything else about the story made no sense. The Trek Mi'Qan are supposedly light years ahead of us socially, yet the women are kept as sexual pets? The women wear see-through "Jeanie" clothes, and the men, who are all "warriors," are dressed from head to toe? Sounds more like an Earth man's fantasy than an advanced civilization. They're supposedly advanced sexually, yet the sex was pretty tame. Apparently in this universe you have sex four ways only: missionary, "doggy-style," woman on top, and oral sex. Nothing advanced there. No bondage, S&M, anal sex, or same-gender sex. From reading the reviews, I expected a book that was sexually daring. Instead, I found the same "slam-bam" fest you'd find in a porno flick. The same sexual episodes, described exactly the same, over and over. Boring!! Not to mention the lame plot, the finger-snapping, neck-bobbing, "you-go-girl," ghetto Mama stereotyped black female character. This author has so little talent. I have a dare for anyone who was impressed with this book. If you want to read erotic romance that has sizzling, daring sex that will make you panties (or pants) wet, with believeable plots and characters you'll care about, check out anything written by Emma Holly. Start with her Black Lace book entitled "Menage" and you'll be hooked. After reading her, you'll wonder why you were ever impressed with Ms. Black.

Summary: The Empress' New Clothes
Review: While parts of this book were extremely funny (I was laughing out loud), I was frustrated with other aspects of the book, hence, my personal recommendation of 3 stars. Specifically, I found myself uncomfortable with the alien culture requirement that woman walk around stark naked or flimsily dressed in see-through cloth in front of all the lusty male warriors. Nor did I care for the sexual encounters while others watched on. While I'm sure some people get off on this fantasy, it just wasn't a turn on for me. I think this book is more targeted for people who have fantasies of exhibitionism. I'm more into the private, intimate sexual (steamy, passionate, etc.) relationship that develops between a man and woman. But if you're into "exhibition sex" (I don't know what else to call it), this book is well written and moves along at a good pace.
P.S. read a few other reviews and I have to agree with two others who felt the mysogyny a bit much. Also strongly agree that the women were delegated to a childlike state (good comparison with Lucy (I Love Lucy))...Also, Marly Chance did write two very similar stories that I liked much more because the warrior men were so loving and rounded (sexy and lusty too, but ultimately respectful of their selected mates.)
