Summary: Highly enjoyable and lots of fun!
Review: 'Empress' was my first Jaid Black book; I read it through in one sitting. The next day I went back and read it again (and ordered the rest of her books that were available at the time). Plainly put, Jaid's books are sheer erotic fantasy. The settings are vivid, the characters are literally "larger than life," and the dialog is snappy and keeps me smiling throughout the stories. (Zor's reaction to a cheese doodle is priceless!) Jaid gives her imagination free rein, and the result is a fascinating new world where sensual pleasure is the norm rather than the exception and sex isn't a dirty secret hidden behind closed doors.

Not for the faint of heart or easily offended, Jaid's books draw a firm line: men are definitely dominant creatures and women are there for their pleasure. Having read the entire Trek Mi Q'an series, I can't see how that would be a hardship. Trystonni males definitely have an edge over mere Earth men, and I, for one, am ready to sign up as a Sacred Mate to a Trystonni warrior. Beam me up, Zor.

Summary: ZZZZZZZZZZZZ
Review: A bounding pace by itself does not a story make. I found the pace more jittery than bounding, actually. This kind of story doesn't call for intricate layers, but some justice could be done to characters even so. Without it there's not enough plot to make sex scenes effective enough to be worth reading from scene to scene. Nor did skipping to the 'good parts' keep me awake, since they are all alike. Above all, why pay the price of two good books to get this?

Summary: Sexy, Innovative, Interesting Story
Review: A lot of romantica walks the narrow line between too much sex and not enough story, not enough sex and too much story, or really lame story and poorly written sex.

Jaid Black, thankfully, is a writer who can do both a great, interesting and fresh storyline with really well written sex and relationship between the characters.

You've got your Alpha Male and your female lead in a science fiction storyline. How refreshing is that? Even better? The sci fi is well written, funny and isn't eclipsed by the sex.

Zor, the High King seeks out his mate, who just so happens to be a human from earth, Kyra Sommers. He comes to get her, finds she's not a typical wilting willow and it goes from there.

Nice backstory, thank god the female lead isn't some whining, 18 year old virgin.

To those who complain about the sex being graphic - when you read "erotic romance" you're going to get a book with lots of sex in it. If you don't like lots of sex in your books, especially graphic sex, it's pretty much general common sense to avoid the words "Erotic" in the title or description. As to what does or doesn't ring your bell sex wise, that's all relative. I found the sex to be pretty hot and very well written, different things work for different people, this happened to work for me.

Summary: Cheapened
Review: After reading all the reviews on this author, I thought I would be getting a well written erotic novella, but instead I got a redundent, vague, distasteful book of overly done porn. Unless you enjoy public acts of sex, female domination, and barbaric men, this book is not for you. Even the very worst of the Secrets series short stories was better then this and much cheaper by far.

The main characters are practically joined at the nether regions through 3/4 of the book. Manage a trois seems mild and sane compared to the scenarios that go on in this book. But even the Manage a whatevers aren't that exciting. The scenes aren't very well written, with a great deal of purple prose. I'm surprised Black didn't stick in a couple of "manroots" here and there. The women are practically naked all the time. There is no subtlety about this book at all. Everything is very blatant, but it still lacks the details that have made the Secrets series so popular. There's so much sex that it's no longer exciting. There's no build up, no foreplay to the sex scenes which makes them somewhat dull and dry after awhile.

There is a great deal of male domination and female simpering. I have read two Black books now and find both main female characters and secondary female characters to be lacking in sense, backbone, and any real depth in character. Two dimension hissy fit throwing weaklings. The men, for considering us Earthlings lesser beings, seemed to come right out of the Dark Ages. For such an advanced people, why did they speak as though they were from the first century instead of the 25th? It seemed as though half of them were uneducated. Their techonology just didn't go well with their behavior. On the one hand, they're supposed to be surpiorly advanced, and yet on the other hand, they act as though they are mere barbarians and treat their women like possessions, speaking of them as though appraising a new car. No matter what type of book, erotic or otherwise, your characters need to be convincing and the flow of the narration needs to be smooth (yes, even for those steamy parts), and I simply did not find any of that with Black's work. I was sorely disappointed and will not be buying any more Jaid Black books.

Summary: Nothing Fantastic About This Fantasy!
Review: After reading the rave reviews of Jaid Black from her other "fans", I thought I would give one of her stories a try. My intention was to read only SEIZED but since it was strongly suggested I read the first book THE EMPRESS' NEW CLOTHES first for background purposes, I did. Worried that I would be disappointed, I followed a fellow reviewer's lead and downloaded the ebook (for a fraction of the cost I might add). Boy, am I glad I did!

To say I was not impressed would be an understatement! I consider myself to be liberal, am experienced reading erotica of all sorts and I love science fiction/fantasy but after reading this drivel, it is my suggestion that Jaid Black should pack it up now. I have no idea what Ms Black was trying to accomplish in this story but as a fellow female, I was clearly offended over the fact this author chose to exemplify females as dimwitted sexual objects! I disagree with Ms Black's literary idea that women find dominating barbaric men that force women into submission a turn-on, that all women want to be ravaged by many horny men and that after marriage a woman can be pimped out by her husband to other family members.

Further, I cannot believe my fellow female reviewers gave this story/author so much praise...did they read the same story I did?Hey, I will admit that not all women in a story have to be heroines but should they at least have some common sense? And the main character, Kyra, is supposed to be an accountant?

I agree with a previous reviewer...this story is not written for the romantic reader but rather for the male teenager.

Summary: Interesting
Review: As an avid fan of erotica and romance, I was pleased to find this new hybrid genre of "Romantica". The Empress' New Clothes had it's good and bad points. First the good: a new and interesting world is depicted for the reader complete with exciting and lusty scenes. However, the bad seemed to outweigh the good. I felt the character development was minimal and no matter how often the main characters professed their love for one another, I didn't buy it for a second!! It does take a while to get used to the idea of this male dominated society and one does wonder why the women who were not originally from this "planet" or "dimension" seemed to acclamate so easily to being stripped of their rights as well as their clothes! Personally, I preferred A.N. Rolequaire's (a.k.a. Anne Rice) Sleeping Beauty trilogy for an extreme erotica fix. However, the Trek Mi Q'an series is different and worth the read if you are looking to get away from "Formula Romance" novels.

Summary: Ladies, get ready to change your panties...
Review: As per the previous descriptions of the book, this is the first in her Trek series (i beleive) Jaid did her job well enough to make me a Jaid Black fan for life....the story is complex and erotic and has made me wish there were men out there like these hotties...You can't help but get pulled into Jaid's fantasy, panting to get your hands on the next installment.

Summary: Timeless Tales 5 Star Review
Review: by Amy L. Turpin

Welcome to Planet Tryston, Trek Mi Q'an Galaxy, Seventh Dimension where the senses rule and sexual pleasure is sought above all else. A place where men are giants and women are the objects of their desire. A place where women are cherished and protected above all else, and live only to please their men. Oh, I forgot to mention. They also parade around in public more than half naked and make love passionately and often!

Zor Q'an Tal is High King of Tryston and Emperor of Trek Mi Q'an galaxy. A powerful man both in position and stature and his quest is simple: Find his Sacred Mate, the woman he would be bound to for all his long years, becoming the only woman he would ever be intimate with again. That in itself is really something since the man has somewhere around six hundred women at his beck and call just waiting to pleasure him. Once he has his Sacred Mate, all would be well in his life and he would be contented. Well, that is unless she happens to be a human woman from present day Earth.

Kyra Summers is a tax accountant who only wants to find peace of mind after her beloved sister's disappearance. Fire haired and fair skinned, this beauty is about to be whisked away by a seven-feet-four-inch almost four hundred-pound barbarian who just happens to be the most handsome man she has ever seen! Needless to say, she is less enthusiastic to find out that clothing and modesty as she knows them are about to be redefined in a BIG way. Not only does she find herself wed to this intensely sexual specimen, but she is also thrust into a world where eroticism is a way of life.

OH MY! What a story! I was totally blown away by the sheer imagination of each sexual situation! Not only is this work highly sensual and intensely erotic, but hysterical as well! Ms. Black has created a wonderful set of characters and a beautiful setting for them. This book is Romantica at its best and a must read for the lover of erotic fiction! My compliments to Jaid Black for such a wonderful work of art!

Summary: One of my favorites
Review: Finally I can have a print version of this darling! I discovered this series of Ms. Black's books almost a year ago and have had such an adventure reading the entire series.

First, please realize this book is termed by the publisher as "romantica" which is basically, in my opinion, erotica with a healthy dash of romance. Erotica for women greatly lacks the romance and this is one of many of a growing group of authors that is seeking to remedy that. That said, for those not sure, romantica can include limited situations of multiple partners and unsual sexual acts. Know now that you've been warned.

The Empress', a science fiction romantica, begins an adventure into the Trek Mi Q'an galaxy. There exists 7-foot plus massive warriors who just happen to live in a rather hedonistic society. Insert sigh here. These alpha warriors must travel across the universe looking for their true mate, thus the precipitous landing on Earth of one such warrior, Zor looking for his Sacred Mate. Our heroine, Kyra, poor thing, has no idea what is in store for her as she is given no choice but to adjust to her new life. They way the hero proves to himself she is indeed his mate, something to do with levitating clothes off his Sacred Mate's body, insert another sigh, well, from that scene I was hooked.

For those not sure about this series, if you like Dara Joy's Matrix of Destiny and don't mind a more"spicy" erotica rating, then these books would entertain you well. The heroes of the Trek Mi Q'an galaxy are just as memorable and just as riveting as Joy's Matrix heroes. The humour Ms. Black inserts into these stories and the timing with which she does this is wonderful. I just wish the stories were longer and more plentiful.
