Rating: Summary: GREAT SEQUEL TO SEA SWEPT Review: After reading Sea Swept - and giving it 5 stars - I read Rising Tides wondering if it could possibly be as good as the first book. IT IS! It is touching, emotional, funny, and well written and you just can't put it down. My only complaint would be that the 3rd book won't be out till Jan 99. I would like to see a 3-4 month time frame between releases versus 6-7 months. Since this is a Trilogy and next up is the last brother - Phillip - I wonder why not make it a Saga of 4 books? Why not finish it all off with a last book showing a few years later, as the youngest youngest has grown into a man How does he grow up, what does he do? And bring his story - which was the glue that brought all the other 3 books together - to a full closure to all the readers? I cannot wait for the 3rd book and I hope a 4th. . ..
Rating: Summary: AWEsome, can't put-down read! Review: Nora tells another FABulous story with the second of the Eastern Maryland Shores' story, Rising Tides. Ethan is a complex, quiet, but strong, kind of guy. Because of his past, he believes he cannot offer Grace a future. Grace has had to put her dreams on hold to raise her daughter. Nora brings them together in a way which is believable, funny, and touching.True to form, Nora combines real characters (especially Seth) ... with real dialogue (especially Seth) ... along with lots of humor ... and a dash of suspense ... figuring out Seth's parentage is the million $ question ... By all means, if you're looking for a hot, fun, sexy, FABulous read---get RISING TIDES (but if you have read SEA SWEPT, read Cam & Anna's story first) ... you'll be glad that you did.
Rating: Summary: Left me wanting more.... Review: As usual, Nora Roberts hits the nail on the head with the continuation of the Quinn Brothers' tale. The depth of the characters (imagine a romance novel told from the vantage point of not one, but three men!) is continually touching and surprising. As I neared the end of the book, I remembered that it wouldn't be all neatly wrapped..and I wondered when the next installment was due to publish.
Rating: Summary: The Quinn Brothers Trilogy is a compassionate series. Review: Having read the first two books of this trilogy I can hardly wait for the third. This series is a terriffic story of how good people can make a difference in this sometimes horrific world. The story that is unfolding with each book has all the qualities an enjoyable story should. Along with the love lives of the Quinn Brothers there is also compassion & a great mystery.
Rating: Summary: Ms. Roberts is the same as ever....GREAT!!!! Review: Rising Tides is even better than Sea Swept. I don't think that I can wait until January for Inner Harbor. The best thing about this series is the relationships between the brothers. In both books that I have read so far, there is no question that the 3 brothers will do exactly as their father wanted and protect Seth at the same time. That is the most wonderful thing about Ms Roberts...her insight into human nature and her feel for relationships and family.
Rating: Summary: More rises from this great story than just the tides! Review: I'm a Nora Roberts fan so that makes me partial to all her books. Marrying a Quinn of my own, who also taught English and Literature for 20 years, may also be making this series more personally satisfying for me. But, in the genre of "Romance", most serious readers know that if we want to invest our $7.50 wisely for entertaining and compelling stories, Ms. Roberts is always a great value. Thoroughly enjoyed the first in this series, but loved Rising Rising Tides probably a little more because of Ethan and Grace. The struggles of these two very real characters will have a way of touching every reader's own reality bank just enough to make them uncomfortable. No matter what the cause of the fears we struggle to overome, if for no other reason, this book reinforces the importance of winning our own personal battles. When we cop-out or wear those convenient "denial" glasses, in the end we are such huge losers. Can't wait for Phil's story in "In! ner Harbor", and for what I'm sure will be a very satisfying ending to this particularly enjoyable series. Love you Nora!
Rating: Summary: F.A.N.T.A.S.T.I.C.!!! Review: Rising Tides is the best of all the novels I have read so far. This is a book full of whirlwind emotions and the best casting of characters I have ever read about.Ethan is my kind of hero. He's always there for Seth and he is unbearably sweet. My heart ached for him when he told about his past. Grace was the strong yet fragile heroine. She has an appearance of a flower and the will that is strong and steady as a rock. As for Seth, in this book, he slowly grew up in this book. He wasn't the silent and wary young boy in Seaswept. He started acting more like a normal ten-year old, whining and playing with friends. But there are still traces of his past in him. I hope that by Inner Harbor, Seth will be able to act like a normal ten-year old without any fear of the past. I will never forget this trilogy.
Rating: Summary: captivating! Review: Quinn is not your everyday hero- he has endured atrocities that no one should have to endure (much less a child). This story reels you in and makes you a part of Quinn's and Grace's lives. This series is the best I have EVER read! Bravo, Ms. Roberts!
Rating: Summary: Good story as long as you read the first book. Review: Ms. Roberts furthers the mystery surrounding the death of the Quinn patriarch and the origins of the young boy he was trying to adopt. I am not sure the book would work as well for anyone who had not read Sea Swept. She has left a lot of items that will need to be tied up in the final book. Seth grows as a character and while Ethan and Grace's love story was foreshadowed in the first book of the trilogy, Ms. Roberts still manages to throw in a few suprises. Ms. Roberts does an excellent job of presenting the male viewpoint in these books and I am looking forward to the next book in the story.
Rating: Summary: Typical Nora Roberts - Wonderful! Review: This is every bit as good as you expect from Ms. Roberts: a great story and characters you wish were real on the off chance you might get to know them. Her people are so likeable, and yet are amazingly real, with flaws and foibles and everyday habits. And her stories, including this one, are plausible and gripping and the same time. She amazes me.
