Rating: Summary: Even better than the first in this series! Review: The first book in this series, "Rising Tides", was a thoroughly enjoyable book, but this one appealed to me even more, possibly because Ethan appeals to me more than his "wilder" brother Cam. I love the stay-at-home, family type than Ethan is and it was evident at the outset that he and Grace belonged together. I don't want to give away all the ups and downs, but this is a roller coaster ride that you will delight in. I'm looking forward to the third book in this series.
Rating: Summary: Wonderfully Written Review: Out of the three I've read, Rising Tides with Ethan has been the one that stood out the greatest. His troubled past was so heart wrenching that it brought tears to my eyes. To think that some children go through the same thing... It was so satisfying to see him through it all and grab a woman who seems very right for him. When his past came to haunt him again, she was there for him and guided him through, eventually marrying Ethan, a brilliant character. I don't know how Nora Roberts created him so well and FULL...the past that grabbed me and threw me more deeply into the story. Please don't let this be the last of the series.
Rating: Summary: A moving tale of love and overcoming the past. Review: Ethan was the most calm of the Quinn brothers. He seemed to content to work on his fishing boat, but then he's saddled with the responsibility of caring for his new brother Seth, with whom he has a lot in common. Then there's his quiet love for Grace, a woman he's known for years. He wants her, but he fears he's not family material, because of his brutal past. The author dips into the subject of child abuse and its' forms with a sensitivity and depth, making one feel much sadness for the hero, and yet wanting the reader to scream "Go for it anyway!". Though Ethan is calm, I sensed a fire in him that he was afraid to unlease, and the author creates a scene that demonstrates his loss of self-control in a revealing way. Grace proved herself to be a strong woman, raising a child on her own, working at the local restaurant and being a part-time housekeeper for the Quinns, despite her delicate looking features. This was my favorite book in the series.
Rating: Summary: rising tides Review: I loved the whole trilogy. But I fell harder for Ethan than the other brothers. He's the stong, mostly silent type, who uses his brain and thinks things through. My type of man. Grace and Aubrey are very lucky to have him to come home to. What happened to Ethan as a child makes you cringe, but that he overcame that to become the man he did is a true testiment to what love can do. Excellent!
Rating: Summary: Wonderful Review: I've bought the whole trilogy and somehow I thought that this one is the best from all three. I loved Ethan's character from the first time (Sea Swept, I mean). He was the calmest of all Quinns and it was wonderful to read his story with Grace. Not too much "explosion" between them like Cam & Anna or Phillip & Sybill. But that's the way I liked it. Ordinary, simple, but engaging till the very end.
Rating: Summary: Almost as good as "Sea Swept" Review: If I hadn't read "Sea Swept" first I probably would have liked this book even more! But it had a lot to live up to. Also, Nora Roberts probably did Ethan a disservice in "Sea Swept" because he wasn't portrayed as a very engaging or entertaining character in that book. Well, she did a great job in this book of proving that illusion wrong. Ethan and Grace were very well-written and you just wanted things to work out (even though you knew they would!).
Rating: Summary: Not as good as the first book in the Quinn Brother's series. Review: I enjoyed Rising Tides, which is the second book in Nora Robert's Quinn Brother's Trilogy. However, I didn't get into the character of Ethan like I did with the character of Cam in Sea Swept. Ms. Roberts continued with the "mystery" of who Seth really is, and showed how he was slowly learning to trust all of them. Can't wait for the third and final book.
Rating: Summary: The first of the three was great! Review: This was the best of the three books. All three story lines were the same and I was bored by the third book. Did enjoy this book and read it on an airplane all at once. I would recommend this book but not all three.
Rating: Summary: Superb! Even my *shy* man loved this one!!! Review: Rising Tides is Ethan Quinn's story. The second in the trilogy by Nora Roberts, its setting remains on the eastern shores of Maryland. The Quinns are still embedded in the guardianship battle for young Seth, all residing in the family home together. Cam has married his social worker, Anna, and she is the only female in the household. With Anna brightening the four males home, Grace continues her job of cleaning it, becoming her fast friend. Ethan has loved Grace all his life, though found no reason to tell her. Anna sees the love between the two star-crossed fools and sets her cap to fix that. The story weaves surprises, family fights, and a familial love second to none, in the most delightful ways. Cam and Phillip are there to nudge the quiet, shy Ethan on, as brothers do. Aggravatingly, fondly. Seth adores Grace and feels it's his job to protect her. Her little toddler, Aubrey, born of a short disastrous marriage, is everybody's pet, especially Seth's. Ethan and Grace's tale is quite charming, full of shyness and strength, humor and frustration. It grabs you by the tail and doesn't let go!
Rating: Summary: Sounded like a Harlequin romance novel. Review: I was expecting to hear something like James Michener's Cheasapeake novel. I was disappointed. The story sounded more like a Harlequin romance novel.
