Summary: Second one is as good as the first!
Review: Rising Tides is the second book in the trilogy of the Quinn brothers. This second book of the trilogy was my favorite so far! I haven't read the third one yet but I will. This book was very simple with a few twists and turns. I would highly reccomend this novel!

Ethan is the eldest brother and a fisherman, still living in the Maryland shore town where he was raised by Ray and Stella Quinn. He is a quiet, seemingly content man but you later learn that he has kept his emotions and such to himself for many years. Ethan shared Ray's loves of the sea, boating, and fishing. Ethan seems satisfied with his life until he comes to face his past demons when youngest brother, Seth joins the family and with a similar past. Ethan is drawn to Seth having realized they both experienced horrific abuse at the hands of their natural parents during their early childhood. Because of this common thread, the story of their relationship is quite an emotional read. Ethan establishes a strong paternal relationship with his youngest brother and together, they are both able to put their past to rest. During the course of this book, Ethan realizes he is worthy of a loving relationship with Grace Monroe and her daughter Aubrey whom you will meet in Rising Tides and fall in love with. Ethan is the strongest of the Quinn brothers and through his love for his family and his job, he is able to give each of this brothers the emotional grounding they need to get through their family tragedy and learn to enjoy their lives once more.

I love Nora Roberts books! I like it when she writes something more than a romance or mystery. The real life topic in this book is child abuse and the devastating, life long effect it can have on families and people. Nora manages to get across this very disturbing subject and still write an enjoyable book with a wonderful romance!

Summary: Second in the Quinn Trilogy, fantastic!
Review: I really enjoyed this one more than the first. I think it's because I liked Ethan more than Cameron. Ethan is more down-to-earth and seems to understand hard work and responsibility than his brother Cameron. Ethan seem more determined to make things work for the brothers and their budding business of boatbuilding. The romance between Ethan and Grace, an old family friend was much sweeter and more believeable than the one between Cameron and the social worker Anna.

~Ethan Quinn shares his father's love of boatbuilding and the shores of Maryland and Chesapeake Bay. He is determined to make this boatbuilding venture work out to its fullest. They have their father's last dying wish of seeing to a new member of the family, Seth have a good life. Ethan is determined to see that Seth has a decent life after what his errant mother has done to him.
Anna Spinelli, now a Quinn, after marrying Cameron in "SeaSwept", is Seth's social worker and friend. She is trying to make the courts see that his life is in danger by staying with a mother that uses him and takes money for favors. Anna also knows a deep and dark secret she is hiding from the world about one of the brothers.

Grace Monroe has known Ethan all her life and loved him all her life. She never believes he would love her return, but when things get tangled and she realizes he loves her as much as she loves him, she must also face a horror that is threatening to keep them apart.
Can Ethan overcome his past and grab onto the only love and happiness he wants? Or will he let his horrors keep him from true love and a new life...

The trilogy is coming to a climax, as evident in this second installment. Will we find out Seth's true father? Is he a true Quinn? Or is it all a lie? Can Ethan let his past go completely, or will it come haunting him again? Will Anna be able to deal with all the consequences if they lose Seth? Can Cameron deal with knowing Seth might suffer the same fate as he when he was young? The last installment is about the last brother, Phillip. The sure and level-headed one. Phillip has been in the background the first two books trying to work things out for them all and trying to track down Seth's blackmailing mother. I am sure this series will go out with a bang!
1. SeaSwept 2. Rising Tides 3. Inner Harbor

Summary: A wonderful book- I love Nora Roberts books
Review: Ethan is a believable character in this book. The pain he suffers from past abuse is very real and life like. The way in which he can help Seth turns this book into more than a romance. Grace is a wonderful woman who does everything she can to fight for the love she deserves with the man she wants.

I always appreciate Nora Roberts books. I like it when she writes something more than a romance or mystery. The real life topic in this book is child abuse and the devastating, life long effect it can have on families and people. Nora manages to tackle this very hard subject and still write an enjoyable book with a wonderful romance.

Although each book can stand alone, it is much nicer I find, to read the trilogies together in order. The characters grow and the plot builds until you reach a very satisfying ending.

Summary: Still waters run deep
Review: This is the second in the Quinn brothers trilogy. I enjoyed it as much if not more than the first. The story of Ethan and Grace finding each other shows the complexity of the characters. Ethan has worked his whole life to overcome the horrors of his childhood before being adopted by Ray and Stella Quinn. But even though he has become a successful fisherman, boat builder, and a great man, he still feels he carries a stigma around from his childhood. Grace works tremendously hard to support her two year old daughter, Aubrey, by cleaning houses and waitressing at a bar. Together Ethan and Grace fight to create a future for themselves and a family for Aubrey. The mystery continues regarding Seth and soldifing his place in the Quinn household. Seth's mom starts creeping disturbingly into the picture...this is a fast read and very enjoyable.

Review: This second book of the trilogy was my favorite so far! I haven't read the third one yet but I will. The relationship between Ethan Quinn and Grace Monroe had more depth than Cam and Anna's. This book was very simple with a few twists and turns. I would highly reccomend this novel!

Summary: Second is number one in my book!
Review: Don't get my wrong, I love ALL of Nora's books (okay, well maybe with the exception of HOMEPORT, but I think I read that one too quickly to appreciate it!) but I always seem to find that it's the second book in her trilogies that enchants me. TEARS OF THE MOON, BORN IN ICE, HOLDING THE DREAM, are all the second book from their respective trilogies and are all the one that I favor more than the other two. In RISING TIDES, the same is true. I much preferred the relationship with Ethan and Grace, compared to Sybill and Phillip and Cam and Anna. RISING TIDES takes place right where SEA SWEPT left off. Cam and Anna are on their honeymoon and Ethan is left in charge of Seth during the week while Phillip is working in the city. Grace Munroe, an old family friend, cooks and cleans for the Quinns and also acts as a sort of mother to Seth. Grace and Ethan have known each other almost their entire lives. Both have been secretly in love (and in lust) with each other, almost as long. One night Grace is harassed by an ogling customer at the local bar she works at but before anything can happen, Ethan steps in out of the shadows and rescues her. This leads to a fight between the two where Grace stubbornly claims that even if Ethan hadn't arrived, she could have handled the situation on her own. Ethan merely challenges her to prove how she would have done that and plants a passionate kiss on her - one that sends both their heads and hearts reeling. After that night, neither Grace nor Ethan can go back to the way things were between them before. But, whereas Grace views the kiss as the first step towards a relationship, Ethan backs away for fear that he can never give Grace the life she deserves. This is a classic tale of two friends discovering more and learning that love can heal all that wounds, past and present. I am a HUGE fan of Nora's stories that involve two friends finding out that more than friendship lies between them. If you liked this book, I suggest that you try TEARS OF THE MOON (Shawn and Brenna are irresistable!) and THE MAGREGGOR BRIDES (the last story, Cullum and Julia will jump start your heart).

Summary: interesting
Review: I spent this book alternating between being impressed by Ethan, wanting to hug him, and wanting to smack him upside the head. It was a pretty good book, and I liked the way Ethan interacted with the people around him.

It clearly falls into the category of light romance reading, but kept a decent plot line and didn't dissolve into the trash that a lot of them do. Still, the plot didn't go very far, focusing mostly on Ethan and Grace's romance with only a little of the other things in their lives thown in.

Check it out for a quick read, and check out Phillip's Story in Inner Harbor for the conpletion of the plot line.

Summary: Not near as good as SEA SWEPT
Review: I really didn't enjoy RISING TIDES. SEA SWEPT was much better. Unlike SEA SWEPT, this one focuses on Ethan. Cameron from SEA SWEPT was a better character. He was more realistic. Ethan seems very two dimensional, and a little dense. Also, we have to endure Ethan and Grace's blossoming romance, which I didn't care for. I was more anxious to read of Seth and the family issues. But, this one does have its moments, and it goes from good to bad to good. I also love the setting, the shores of the Chesapeake. So, I was a little mixed. I hope INNER HARBOR, part 3, is better than the sequel in the Quinn Brother's trilogy :)
