Rating: Summary: I can't wait for the next one! Review: If your new to Ms. Kenyon's Dark Hunter series, run right out and buy the other ones! This is (as far as I know!) the third in her Dark Hunter series and it has me salivating for the next ones. Sunshine Runningwolf meets Talon when he gets hit by a Mardi Gra float after saving her life, or so it seems. This story was very complex, in that there were so many things happening at once, and yet it was easy to read and follow along, as well as feel the frustrations of all involved. This book tore at my heart for Acheron, the leader of this motely crew of misfit dark hunters, werepeople and gods who act like snotty children. If you want a great read that already has me reading it again and again, you'll want this one and all the others in this series.
Rating: Summary: Fun, Fast Paced, throughly enjoyable!!!!! Review: Ms. Kenyon's work just keep getting better and better. I think that this was the most enjoyable book I've read in a while. Talon, an anciet Celtic Chieftain, is a Dark- Hunter (A soulless hunter that is there to protect humans from the soul steal vampires that haunt the night.) When he meets the reincarnation of his wife his seemingly, emtionless life is turned upside down in a fun twisting story that will keep you highly entertained. A great read, I couldn't put it down!!!!
Rating: Summary: Vampires, Werewolves, Reincarnation & Greek Gods Review: To date, I've only read three of Sherrilyn Kenyon's paramormal romances, and of the three (FANTASY LOVER, NIGHT PLEASURES, and NIGHT EMBRACE), I enjoyed NIGHT EMBRACE the most. By far, NIGHT EMBRACE was less cheesy and had a much more interesting storyline, characters, and romance than the first two novels in the Dark-Hunter series. NIGHT EMBRACE is the story of Talon, an immortal Celt, who (for nefarious reasons unknown to him) is reunited with the reincarnated soul of his dead wife, Nynia. Nynia has been reborn as Sunshine Runningwolf, a modern-day starving artist. Sunshine is the kind of heroine who is easy to relate to: she's made a few mistakes in life, yet she is also independent, realistic, and easy to get along with. Her responses to Talon, a hunky vampire hunter, are genuine (I could imagine myself thinking those same thoughts if I met a guy like him). Talon is also an interesting hero with an interesting back story, and you can really see him fall in love with Sunshine. The best part of NIGHT EMBRACE, however, isn't the romance so much as it is the adventure that revolves around the secondary characters, which include the always fascinating Acheron, a psycho good guy named Zarek, and some were-creatures (not to mention the various Greek and Celtic gods). Reading about these guys made me want to go out and buy the rest of the Dark-Hunter series, just to see what happens to them. This is also impressive, because I had almost decided to give up on Kenyon as an author since her first two novels seemed WAY too dopey and silly to me. NIGHT EMBRACE redeemed her, in my mind. I'm looking forward to the next novel in the series, now.
Rating: Summary: Third in the series - keep up with the characters Review: This is the 3rd SK novel I have read and I have gotten the forumla down for her writings. But it is still a fun, distracting read and I will continue to read more of them. I agree with another reviewer that a lot of the text was devoted to setting up other characters for their own upcoming stories.
You have to keep the books to re-read the history of the characters because they do interact a lot. And these guys have a lot of history !! The fact that mythology is a part of the storyline, you can't always predict the ending. Like what happened to Sunshine and Talon. That was a surprise.
I would like to see a novel devoted to one of the squires. They have their own stories and it would be fun to see what their lives consist of when they are not serving the Dark Hunters.
Rating: Summary: Let the Sunshine In Review: I thought this book was wonderful! I loved the idea that two soulmates could find one another again, and overcome a curse to be together. (And I went to work on 3 hours of sleep, AGAIN. I think I'm going to start reading these books on my days off...)
Talon (Speirr in his native Gaelic)was the son of a Druid Priest and a Celt Queen. After he and his sister were murdered by his schemeing cousin, he traded his soul to Artemis for an Act of Vengence and became a Dark-Hunter (vampire like immortals who slay the real vampires, called Daimons). Unfortunately for him, even though he is no longer human, he still carries the curse of the Celtic god Camulus. He cannot love or care for another soul, and if he does, Camulus will kill them. The curse caused the death of his wife and unborn son when he was human, as well as his sister's, and he will not risk feeling again to avoid the pain and loss. Having been trained to bury his feelings, he has succeded for many centuries, until the night he rescues a woman from Daimons, and is then run over by a Mardi Gras float.
Sunshine Runningwolf is an artist, with , as she puts it, the attention span of a sick flea. She isn't paying attention one night, and runs into a group of Daimons. After Talon saves her and gets hit by the float, she takes to her apartment to help him recover. This starts a chain of events that threaten to break Talon's control on his emotions, especially when he finds out Sunshine is the reincarnation of his wife who was killed by Camulus.
As if all this isn't enough, there's a duo of gods running around New Orleans during Mardi Gras trying to release the goddess Appolymi, who would destroy the world if she is released. We are also introduced to the wolf Katagaria, or were-wolves. All in all, it's an incredibly enjoyable read, with lots of laughter, tears, and, of course, steamy love scenes!
Buffy can go bite the big one, the Dark-Hunters rule vampire slaying!
Rating: Summary: Dark hunters, were hunters, were bears and Greek gods Review: The third installment of the Dark Hunter series and just as brilliant. This is Talon of Morrigantes and Sunshine Runningwolf's story. Talon is 1,500 year old Dark Hunter, immortal slayer of the evil vampire like Daimons. He was a Celtic warrior during his mortal lifetime who saw his family cut down by the god Camulus and does not dare to love again for fear of losing another beloved.
Talon is on patrol for Daimons in New Orleans area when he comes across a group of them about to attack a human, the beautiful Sunshine. He saves her from their clutches only to be saved in return by Sunshine who takes him back to her flat for him to recover from his wounds. Back at her flat, Sunshine strips Talon naked and puts him into bed. "Aye carumba!" Sunshine has never seen a more handsome man in her life. Blond, tanned, extremely tall and with a body to die for. When Talon wakes up eventually, Sunshine finds out first hand just what a body he has and they go on to christen every surface of her flat. Hot! Hot! Hot!
It is Mardi Gras in New Orleans and the Daimons are out in force. Special back up is drafted in, in the guise of Zarek a psycho Dark Hunter who hails from Alaska and Valerius, an arrogant ex Roman general who is now an arrogant Dark Hunter. We are also introduced to the were hunters Vane and Fang who are wolves and the were bears who reside at a local bar, the Sanctuary.
This was an exciting book to read as with all the previous Dark Hunter novels and all the hunters are super godlike gorgeous. Zap me over to New Orleans anytime. The Hunters sure have attitude and Sherrilyn Kenyon's witty and sassy dialogue is a joy to read. The love scenes were scorching but the romance is also sweet. Highly recommended on its own but best read as a series. Start with Fantasy Lover and Night Pleasures. You will not be disappointed.

Rating: Summary: WOW Review: Werewolves and Daimons, and bears, oh my! Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark Hunter series blew me straight into my own version of Oz. If you like the out-of-the ordinary romance, this series is for you. Talon is a dark hunter (sort of a vampire who only kills the real vampires), Sunshine is a left-over, lovable hippie, and together . . . all I can say is wow! Not only is Talon a strong Alpha male in this book, but there are several others who were just screaming for their own stories, and one of whom already has his (Kyrian - Night Pleasures). Sherrilyn's imagination is wonderful, but it is her ability to create the most vivid, laugh-out-loud humor to relieve the well-drawn tension that had me begging more more. Next up? Zarek's story in Dance With the Devil. No doubt, you'll find that review posted here when I'm done reading. Way to go Ms. Kenyon. You've just nabbed another fan!

Rating: Summary: Just average. Review: I'm becoming increasingly disappointed with the books in this series. I don't know how long Ms. Kenyon has been writing, but she needs a lot of improvement. Yes, she has come up with a novel, engaging fantasy world. But it is as if she used up all of her creative energy in the conceiving. As with the second book, I feel as if she is making this stuff up as she goes. The result is a confusing hodgepodge of characters who seem very comic-book like. This author is particularly inept at writing dialogue (there wasn't a single line of dialogue that would have come out of a real person's mouth) and fight scenes. Essentially, every male in this book is complete comic book caricature: tall, gorgeous and [tough] with too much attitude. They were all too busy spouting one-liners to say anything intelligent or compelling. On top of that, the Talon/Sunshine love story was not the least bit compelling. I have no idea why the issue of reincarnation was placed in this story, because it completely killed the little romantic potential that already existed. I guess reincarnation explained how Talon and Sunshine could fall in love in one day, but why was that necessary? Because they fell in love so quickly, the rest of their story consisted of them repeating the same angst-ridden thoughts over and over and over. Finally, I'm getting tired of the "poor me" attitude of the lead male characters. Will there ever be a happy Dark Hunter? Or at least one who has a healthy mental attitude? Is that too much to ask? The whole [I was severely mistreated in my past so I've remained angry for centuries] schtick is getting really old. I keep wanting to tell these Dark Hunters, "Get over yourselves!"
