Rating: Summary: Third time is Definitely a Charm Review: This is Sophie Kinsella's best work yet. This book was not only funny, but it was addictive. Once I started reading this book, I could not put it down. All three of the Shopaholic series are wonderful, and worth reading.
Rating: Summary: A fairytale ending for our favorite shopaholic Review: Shopaholic Ties the Knot is a brilliant end to Ms. Kinsella's shopaholic trilogy. Once again, our heroine, Rebecca Bloomwood, finds herself in a bind. She's finally marrying the man she adores, but has accidentally allowed two weddings in two different countries to be planned for the SAME DAY! You will giggle with glee as you watch her lie and squirm as the big day approaches. I thoroughly enjoyed it and would recommend this novel (as well as the first two) to anyone who'll listen!
Rating: Summary: Shopaholic Ties the Knot Review: Sophie Kinsella is amazing! I couldn't book this book down - it was hilarious!! I also loved the previous 2 books. Becky Bloomwood is such an adorable character. I hope there are more books to come with Becky as the main character...with as much humour, if not more!
Rating: Summary: Wonderful Book in the Series Review: An avid fan of the first two Shopaholic books, I was not dissapointed with this one. Although not the best book in the series( nothing can ever beat the first one in my opinion) It is still a great read. After reading the first and second book,I was thinking that Becky was starting to get a little predictable, but she managed to surpise me in the end. Enjoy!
Rating: Summary: Laugh-till-you-drop! Review: This saccharine-laden confection topped with laugh-a-minute humor and a clueless shopaholic of a heroine Becky Bloomwood is reckless escapism and unfettered joy. Bestselling author Sophie Kinsella updates her Shopaholic series with this entry sending her heroine to the altars with dashing business whiz Luke Brandon. Along comes the riotous Danny fashioning her bridal wear, her enthusiastic parents digging up old frilly wedding dresses and busily preparing in Oxshott. The gaffe comes in when Luke's hoity-toity mother Elinor is determined to give a plush wedding reception at New York Plaza with the native harmonic symphony. Becky is in a fix with Luke's mid-life crisis and having to please both sides. When she decides to forgo the luxurious one in New York, it's too late because she has to pay the wedding planner $100,000 if the wedding is canceled. This delightful hoot of a book will make you weep and laugh your way to the altars.
Rating: Summary: Great fun! Review: I really enjoyed all of the Shopaholic books with Shopaholic Takes Manhattan being my all-time favorite. I loved Shopaholic Ties the Knot. It was hysterical and fun! You will laugh out loud and find yourself trying to figure out what you would do if you faced Becky's dilemma. My only question is, and maybe I missed something, but the dates are wrong. Elinor's invitation on page 146 says June 21st at the Plaza and then Becky's parents selected June 22nd on page 45. I probably just missed something in my reading, but those dates stuck with me. Regardless, this is a great read - just in time for summer!
Rating: Summary: Couldn't stop reading.... Review: I borrowed "Confesions of a Shopaholic" from a friend on Saturday night. It is now Thursday and I am here searching for more books by Sophie Kinsella because I finished reading the "shopoholic" series last night. I was so entertained I couldn't put them down (Actually finished the first one in one day and ran out that night to buy the second and third!). Reading them in such quick succesion I was thrilled that the continuity was kept. I also noticed the shift from the first book to the third in "Becky's" personality. Through the writting style you could clearly see the difference (English slang slowly started to drift off in book two and by book three Becky "sounded" like an American. I'll be the first in line to buy the next book! I find myself sitting here thinking...what happens on the honeymoon???? Do they eventually have kids and does Becky buy out Harrods in the process of being pregnant?
Rating: Summary: Shopaholic Collects Alimony? Good book, bad leading man Review: Okay, no one picks up a "Shopaholic" book looking for high lit. And Sophie Kinsella is much better at Bridget Jones clones than many other writers (I'm thinking of the truly terrible Jemima J., Bad Heir Day, etc.) This book is enjoyable, like the other two in the series. But I've got a major quibble: the hero, Luke, is really not very appealing, and in some ways, is about the least dreamy Dream Man I can think of. He's never around, he kowtows to his mother, and he and Becky seem to gloss over their problems with a laugh and wink, not any sort of even mildly realistic discussion. It's hard to see why anyone would want to marry him, so I guess this likeable, fluffy book doesn't go down as well as it should. Poor Becky! I hope the next book isn't "Shopaholic Collects Alimony."
Rating: Summary: Third Time Not a Charm! Review: I must begin by telling the reader that I absolutely adore the first two installments in the Shopaholic trilogy. With that said, It was a terrible disappointment to read this book. There is no character development, nor plot. I found myself dozing off several times. Due to the ten plus dollars I paid, I made myself finish this book. C'mon, Kinsella spends the entire book having the heroine ponder one question. I think Kinsella could have done a lot with this book given the premise--Can you imagine what a shopaholic would be like planning her own wedding? Instead, the author leaves all the planning to secondary characters. If you must read this book, because you feel invested in the Shopaholic series, borrow it from a friend--this book is not a keeper.
Rating: Summary: Laughed my head off! Review: Becky getting married?! Luke suddenly pops the question and the ensuing trials and tribulations are hilarious! And the problems with interfering mothers ring SO true. I don't want to give much away, I hate when people do that. If you liked the first two, you'll love this one... even if it does have a bit more drama than the previous ones. Also recommended: NO ONE'S EVEN BLEEDING and DELANO
