Rating: Summary: I Loved It! Review: This was a great way to pass time; the story and the characters were well developed and it was very interesting. I did like how Shay handled the 'ladies.'
Rating: Summary: Ok for preachers to screw around? I don't believe it is. Review: Usually, I love Ms. Foster's books but not this one. In fact, I had a very difficult time reading it and I'm not even religious. But once Bryan and Shay left Ohio the book settled into the Lori Foster style I know and enjoy. Bruce and Bryan Kelly are identical twins. Bruce is a preacher who was assaulted. Bryan is a bounty hunter who is standing in for Bruce in order to catch the person who attacked Bruce. In other words Bryan is pretending to be a preacher. The unbelievable part of this book is that NO ONE has any problem whatsoever with an unmarried preacher having sex. In fact everyone is encouraging Bryan -while he's pretending to be his preacher brother- to have sex outside of marriage. Even Preacher Bruce encourages Bryan to have sex! I find this so unbelievable as to be ludicrous. I don't believe that "spiritual" leaders -preachers, reverends, nuns, etc, are superhuman but more is expected of them and they are held to higher standards. The majority of religious institutions frown on any unmarried person having sex before or outside of marriage so it is certainly not ok for unmarried religious leaders. And yet, not one person in this story doubts that it's anything but ok. You don't have to be religious to object to a preacher engaging in extramarital sex. I am sorry I bought this book and will not purchase Bruce's story (When Bruce Met Cyn) IF Bruce is still a preacher and has extramarital sex. (I am looking forward to Ms. Foster's other books that don't have a pretending-to-be-preacher or an actual preacher as the romantic lead.) It's disappointing after reading and enjoying all of her other books, to find that Ms. Foster doesn't have a problem with a religious leader screwing around -granted that Bryan was just pretending, the underlying thread is still that there's nothing wrong with an unmarried preacher having sex outside of marriage.
Rating: Summary: It's a keeper!!!! Review: What would you do if you were mistaken as a prostitute, and on top of that, you felt a very strange attraction to a preacher? Well, that's exactly the mess Shay's life had turned into. And said preacher, Bryan, wasn't far behind. There was nothing he wouldn't do for his twin brother, even if it meant passing as a preacher; even if it meant having the hots for a woman - a prostitute, no less. If to find out who was trying to hurt his brother he had to stand his attraction - plus taking care of a bunch of prostitutes - he would do it. As the continuing part of "Say not to Joe", "The Secret Life of Bryan" will keep you stuck to the seat, bed, or any place you may be reading the book on. You won't be able to take your eyes off it till you finish. It is all a mix of suspense, intrigue, friendship, love and steamy-hot scenes that will melt you down to your bones. What are you waiting for? Buy this book now! You won't regret it.
Rating: Summary: The Secret Life of Bryan Review: WHO DOESN'T LOVE LORI FOSTER BOOKS ????????????
Rating: Summary: powerful romantic suspense Review: Widow Shay Sommers uses her wealth to help rescue child prostitutes. As a storm rages the Preacher notices Shay in a bad neighborhood looking like a prostitute. He offers her residence in a safe house, which she accepts. She says she is not a prostitute so he asks if she is slumming before going into a tirade about rich society dames "helping" the down trodden like the "Crown Princess who rejected a victim. Shay defends the "Crown Princess" as that is her. She decides his safe house is ideal for her to help others and get to know her knight. Bryan, a widower bounty hunter, wonders how his twin brother Bruce the Preacher puts up with these women of the street. He switched identities with Bruce, who was hospitalized after an assault, to catch the SOB, but lusts over the newest hooker Shay. She feels very attracted to him and wants to know him. As they fall in love, Brian tries to avoid Shay while she worries how he will react to her true identity. Meanwhile someone is willing to kill to stop the Preacher's help to hookers. THE SECRET LIFE OF BRYAN is a powerful romantic suspense that spotlights the impact of prostitution on the supplier. The tale contains strong lead characters and a solid support cast that all seem genuine. Though the villain once revealed near the end seems too weak throughout the tale to be the antagonist and his actions during the final confrontation seem out of character, fans will enjoy this walk on the dark side of the streets.
