Rating: Summary: At long last ... Review: ...the moment we readers have awaited so long. The big fights have been had, the truths told, the many rivals for Godai's and Kyoko's respective affections have withdrawn from the field, and our hero and his beloved even manage a night to themselves to make everything okay. Our long-awaited happy ending is in plain sight ahead, so it should be all smooth sailing from here on ... right?Well, no, that'd be too easy, and if anything about this love story were easy, it just wouldn't be Maison Ikkoku. There are still some pent-up feelings to vent, years worth of misunderstandings and resentments to clear away; and now that the news is out, more frequent and raucous interference from the usual gang of drunken housemates and hard-headed family members. No fear of spoilers, there aren't any big shocks plotwise; but the slapstick is dialed way down in this volume to make way for the tear-jerkers to come out in full force. By the time it's all over, it's safe to say that Godai and Kyoko are stronger and more tightly bound for everything they've gone through to finally be together. No worries, friends - they'll be fine. And so will everyone else too. Three loud cheers for Rumiko Takahashi - who else can make us laugh so loud and cry so hard all at once, and still carry it all through to such a sweet ending? Nobody on God's Earth, that's who.
Rating: Summary: Farewell, Maison Ikkoku! Review: At long last, The Tale Of A Lovesick Prince And A Lovelorn Princess comes to a close after a whole series of frustrating conflicts and obstacles - now their hunger that lasted half a decade is finally nurtured and sustained one rainy night. Even old rivals showed up to pay their sincere regards and despite a few last-ditch meddling, even Kyoko's scheme-hatching parents and hard-drinking residents respectfully stand by to make way for the happy man and wife. And this time, there is no nosebleeding at all. Just honest old-fashioned love and sincere hopes for the future...
Rating: Summary: A series I never tire of reading Review: I must have read MI a dozen times in Japanese, and I recently bought the whole series in English just for fun. I'm generally pleased with the translation, but a mistake in this volume on one of my favorite lines in the whole series prompted me to comment. "When she laughs, the world is mine" should be "When she smiles, the world is mine." Subtle, but important.
Now that I have that off my chest, ignore the nitpicking and buy the whole series. If you like great stories and superb characterization, you can't go wrong.
I'm dropping a star for some rough editing at the beginning of the series and for a few other productions problems.
Rating: Summary: So Good!! Review: It ends! IT FINALLY ENDS! I love this series, and it could not have ended in a better way. Kyoko and Godai finally get married! It was hard for them to get there, and Godai had to suffer for many years, but they finally got there. This is one of those books that shows you that although life be tortureous, sometimes it can also be perfect, and for our friend Godai, It finally comes to a perfect end.
Rating: Summary: The Grand Finale (emphasis on GRAND!) Review: SPOILERS AHEAD---SPOILERS AHEAD---YOU'VE BEEN WARNED! Well, it's finally here... the final instalment Takahashi Rumiko's Maison Ikkoku, and boy, was it well worth the wait for us MI fans! It starts out with Kozue coming to Godai's job to tell him she's accepted the other man's proposal (see "Game, Set, Match" graphic novel), and continues on through (Mr. & Mrs.) Yusaku & Kyoko Godai's return to Ikkoku after... well read it to find out! You'll love it.... I sure did! Any comments on my review or anime in general: AkaneFan316@Juno.com
Rating: Summary: Simply Amazing Review: The final book in this outstanding series and for me it was an emotional rollercoster. If you have a sentimental bone in your body you will cry at some of the scenes. Ignoring the comedic bits this is the story of 2 people overcoming obstacles, misunderstandings, lack of courage, and all the other human frailties we suffer from. Yes we do get our happy ending for everyone but it's not handed on a silver platter. I felt a little shocked by the cruelty the tenants of Ikkoku sometimes display (or is that their own twisted way of getting Godai to stand up and act..). After 2 nights of reading this book cover to cover twice it's left quite an impact on me. Here's hoping everyone can find happiness like the central characters. And no we never do find out what a certain character does for a living... ;)
Rating: Summary: Finally! Review: There were times I thought the story of Maison Ikkoku would never end--the complications just compiled and continued! But at last, the conclusion arrived, and it left me feeling relieved and satisfied. I was still left to wonder about a couple things, though. For instance, just what does Yotsuya do for a living? Was this something I was supposed to pick up at some point, or are we left to wonder forevermore? I'm glad I started reading the series, and I'm glad I read it all the way through. All that money was well worth it.

Rating: Summary: A wonderful ending to one of the best sagas ever written Review: This is a FABULOUS series!! I own all 14 graphic novels and all of the Television episodes. If you're a fan of American shows like Friends, Will & Grace and Frasier, then you'll love Maison Ikkoku. You'll laugh and cry as you view the life of Poor College Student Yusaku Godai, who is helplessly in love with his beautiful apartment manager, Kyoko and tries in vain to thwart his nosy and inebriated neighbors. It's great! Buy it today!
