Rating: Summary: PERFECT! Won't be able to put it down! Review: My home is full of books and I have read so many over the years but truly this is one I could not put down. You will be captivated by the incredible storyline and laugh, cry, reflect, and hopefully be a little more compassionate to one another. What a treasure it is to read something so interesting and learn a lesson to boot. I also read the ATONEMENT CHILD first and didn't think Mrs. Rivers could top that. One thing Mrs. Rivers is teaching: anything is possible and probable with the power of God's Love. Don't be dismayed. Even if you aren't a Christian, this book will MOVE you. You will not be the same. Thank you Mrs. Rivers for opening my eyes to the hurting people in the world.
Rating: Summary: Mallowcups for Franny. Review: Once in ten years I'll read a romance novel. This time I chose Redeeming Love, on recommendation from a friend, and because I read the Mark of the Lion series and figured I'd be on safe ground--( For me, "The Mark" series has more of a Thoene/historical feel than romance.) Redeeming Love went so far beyond a romance read that I include it in my list of recommends even to guys. The cover, I admit, terrified me; I read it on faith in my friend's word alone...and I'm ever glad I did. Before I read it, and I advise this to anyone before reading Redeeming Love, I read the book of Hosea. It gave me a clear idea of what Franny was trying to do. I also advise reading the fascinating publisher's note at the front of the book--I understood why he wrote it when I finished the book. Redeeming Love is the story of a woman afraid to love, afraid of love, and the man who, against logic and right, wouldn't give up on her. Many times I'd have to set the book down and think on God's love, how impossible it is, and how relentless. What a picture you given, Fran, what an idea of a person's worth. The greatest compliment I can give you is this...what you set out to do, you did.
Rating: Summary: Powerful, spiritual Message Review: I seriously can't believe I just read a romance novel. I should have known. This book was recommended to me by a devote Christian/romance novel addict friend. I really don't like romance novels. But, oh, this is a wonderful book. Rivers, while delving into some romantic stuff, provides description, but not so much that you want to puke. Over all, this is a beautiful book about forgiveness, finding oneself, and the wrongs of judging others. I think Rivers was so scared of being corny that she didn't dare try to put in a lot of emotion, but there is still a fair amount of emotion. The story revolves around Angel, a prostitute who has taught herself not to feel, having been used by men all her life. Then she meets Michael Hosea, who insists she marries him. She soon finds herself warming up and falling in love with Michael, but the low opinion she has for herself keeps getting in the way. The message happens to be more powerful than the actual story, though at times the plot is very absorbing, especially at a particular climax near the end. This is an amazing retelling of the Book of Hosea, and I've learned to never judge anyone. Tacky and unpolished at parts, poetic at others, "Redeeming Love" is worth a read, even if you don't like romances.
Rating: Summary: A beautiful, touching story of love and grace Review: This book was one of those books that you simply couldn't put down. Although we sometimes don't understand why things happen in our lives, it's always reassuring to know that it's God's plan. The story is about a young girl named Sarah (Angel) who was sold into prostitution at the age of 8. At the age of 23, a young man by the name of Michael Hosea (this story is based on the book of Hosea) is lead by God to marry her. What comes after that is a numerous amount of pain and frustration. Sarah can't forgive herself but can Michael help her or will she ever find a true relationship with Christ that she needs?
Rating: Summary: Wow! Review: The most powerful novel I have ever read, and I've read many! This book took me through the most incredible journey, emotional AND spiritual, and reminded me of just how precious each of us are in God's sight! The characters are utterly real and the story is a beautiful testimony of how God's grace, forgiveness, and strength can work miracles in our lives and the lives of those around us if only we believe! This is the love story that all of us dream of coming true. Michael Hosea is an uncommon man of integrity, strength, humility, honor and commitment that every woman, even those with a dark history, deserves as a husband! I highly recommend this book for Christians and non-Christians alike, as it puts the Gospel of Christ in a real-life setting that everyone can relate to.
Rating: Summary: Redeeming Love Review: An excellent book full of godly insights! It captivated my attention by really drawing on the common human plight of finding and realizing God's everlasting love for us. It's a book that explains the captivation of sin and finding the way out, a book that brings a fictional story to life through Biblical application. It's definitely a re-read!
Rating: Summary: Well, actually about 20 Stars. Review: I read "The Atonement Child" by the same author, and thought that it was unbeatable. How wrong! Redeeming Love must be if not the best book that I have read. Francine Rivers is truely blessed and also well guided by the Holy Spirit. I would really recommend her books for councelling purposes. It took me two days to read this book as I was unable to put it down. God Bless.
Rating: Summary: Francine Rivers is a master storyteller! Review: This is a book for everyone and one which will still be around for decades! The message of God's love and redemption is timeless and powerful. The writing is superb; full of deep insight into the human heart. This is Francine at her best. (Which is saying something because Francine is always great!) Shalom Francine!Way to go, girl!
Rating: Summary: highly recommended! Review: I read this book till morning even though I had to go to work...I laughed...I cried....and learned many lessons. Brings to light the story of Prophet Hosea and God's Redeeming love. Helped me to understand the phrase....while we were yet sinners Christ died for us! It also helped to understand God's kind of love...Unconditional! Francine Rivers draws you into the story so much that it's hard to drop the book!
Rating: Summary: My favorite book of all time Review: I'm serious- I love this book. I read it for the first time a couple years ago, and I read it twice in two days, and cried both times (and it takes a lot to make me cry!). Since then I've read it three more times, never tiring of the incredible storyline and vivid characters. I know people who dislike romances and have read this book, and were deeply moved by it. The highest compliment I can give to Francine Rivers is this- her writing has touched my soul.
