Summary: Above Reproach! Nothing 'fiction' about it.
Review: Francine Rivers rises above Historical-fiction with this series. This book brings the pain, joy,triumph, and fustration of the characters to the very heart of the readers, making every thought and emotion anything but 'fiction'. Marcus, Julia, Hadassah,Rizpah,Theophilos, and Atretes- their falls and their triumphs will glisten with hope for the reader inside the reader's heart for days afterward. Granted, some parts really go into detail making some pages tedious, but other than that I enjoyed every minute of my 'lesson of forgiveness and trust and love' as I read the Mark of the Lion series.

Review: I would recommend these books to anyone. They are so uplifting and speak such a powerful message of love, hope, and service to God. They have given me reason to strive to serve God in any way possible, to mold myself after Hadassah and Rizpah. Anyone wishing to draw closer to God while experiencing the thrill of Christian romance and excitement should read these books. I've read them twice and I know I'll read them again and again.

Review: Both my husband and I thoroughly enjoyed these books. They are historically interesting and spiritually uplifting. All 3 have applicable solutions to living life as a Christian today. Each book is interesting and the character development is very good. I highly recommend these books!

Summary: Mark of the Lion Series
Review: Francine Rivers is an excellent author who has been blessed by a talent of painting vivid pictures in the minds of her readers. I have read all of the Mark of the Lion books and enjoyed each one thoroughly. I have no criticism about them at all. They are filled with excitement and the love of God. Each book is well worth anyone's time and is much better than any movie out in the theater. I strongly encourage you to try her books. God bless.

Review: Those books are very, very good. I recommend anyone to read them. Rome with its morals, the destruction of Jerusalem and the defeat of the Germanic tribes. Way to go Francine!

Summary: The BEST series I've ever read!
Review: If I could only recommend three books for someone to read, they would be the Mark of the Lion series, without a doubt. My dad gave these to my sisters and I for Christmas...one to each of us. It was a most cruel way to have to read them as I had to "fight" the others to finish the one she was reading so I could read it (I was given #3). I finally gave up and sat in a bookstore and read them! I can't wait to own the whole set as I plan to read them again soon.

Review: I had never heard of Francine Rivers before, but I've also been in the mission field here in the Amazon Basin for 5 years too! I was blown away by her content, accuracy and character development, and I'm an amateur history buff. It was so well done, that although I'm just a fledging internet surfer from here in Santarém, that I ordered them via the internet from Amazon.com. I also ordered some of her other books, since these were so well done. I have always loved the name Hadassah & it's meaning, and was VERY favorably impressed by her character, dignity, integrity and humility as she never saw herself as "doing it", but only JESUS. Excellent, excellent books. I highly recommend them to any adult as having depth & quality, and genuine tear raising scenes as well. Speaks so well to the genuine heart and spirit level changes that the Lord can do in ANYONE, if they are only willing to know the truth. I am definitely a Francine Rivers fan as of now. It's not that easy to get good books in English here in the middle of the Amazon Basin, let alone Christian ones. And I was a little concerned that they might not arrive well or in good shape, or even completely. To my pleased surprise, even though the box was open, not a book was missing. I also heartily recommend her other books: the Sin Eater and Redeeming Love (with Redeeming Love getting 10 stars in my mind). Wow. I really enjoyed these books incredibly. And as a missionary nurse here in the Amazon, I am NOT that easy to impress! The Lord is definitely held up as the focus of the books, and the transforming work He can and will do in our lives. If we will just invite and let him do so. May his name be praised and may he receive all the honor and glory for these writings!! I just wish books weren't so hard to get here or so expensive!

Summary: Uplifting, Encouraging, Inspiring, Intense
Review: This is one of the best historical novels I have ever read and I have read a lot of them. The characters are very well developed and the story flows. I stayed up way too late way too many nights because I couldn't wait to see what happened with the characters. Since I am a Christian it was fascinating to read in such a setting about the destruction of Jerusalem, the moral decay of Rome and the victory to be had in Christ.

Summary: BEST HISTORICAL FICTION SERIES OF THE CENTURY
Review: This 3-book historical fiction series takes place during biblical times and is the most wonderful work of fiction I've read in a long time. Book two continues the story from book one. Book three takes a minor character from books one and two and tells of his life which ties all three books together. The author carries you with the characters as you loose yourself in the plot. From page one of book one you will have trouble putting the series down. I've given these books as gifts to several friends as its such a great series!

Review: I was in Spain visiting a friend & she loaned me this series. I read the whole thing in 2 weeks! I highly recommend it - especially books 1 & 2.
