Summary: Revenge of the Nerds!
Review: Jenny Colgan writes funny, funny stories. Let's get this straight - these aren't complex stories of love and redemption, with 550 pages of twists and turns. These are basically short, funny morality plays. I like how she tackles "nerdom" (or, anorak-dom, if you use the Brit term)and dares to make not one, but two, of the "romantic leads" out-and-out geeks (OK, good looking ones, and in the case of one of them, he can dance and kiss great, too.) I love her self-depracating humor and the fact that there's just not a lot of jet-setting going on here. The supporting cast of characters are brilliant - I can just see this as a movie. (And I know that's not exactly high praise for some authors, but I think it's appropriate here.) I read the UK version, I hope they haven't made it too American for the US market. I recommend this and Amanda's Wedding.

Summary: A chore to finish....
Review: Just a few words - This was not even close to being as good a story as 'Amanda's Wedding'. The characters in 'Talking To Addison' were sooo boring and the storyline lost me many times. Quite frankly, Holly needed a good slap and I really hoped that Addison did NOT wake from his coma.

Summary: Ehmm. Raunchy, Ribald, and Randy
Review: Much, much naughtier than my usual read, still TALKING TO ADDISON was a sublimely droll peek into the life of Holly Livingstone and Friends. The dialogue is quick paced, very British, sarcastic, witty and utterly coarse, lewd, vulgar and bawdy. An eccentric and highly amusing bit of farce that kept me laughing throughout. The reader will meet some bizarrely enchanting characters as well as learn when a kiss is NOT just a kiss. Some screamingly hysterical scenes of "a model of a Modern Major General" together "with many cheerful facts about the square of the hypotenuse."

If you are missing a sense of humor or easily offended or snared in a quagmire of conformity, I would recommend giving this one a pass. Otherwise, click on "Add to Shopping Cart" and get ready to laugh.

Summary: Dating Can Be Hazardous To Your Health
Review: The game is on. And Holly Livingstone's a key player.

It's the age-old game of love.

Holly begins her trek when she moves in with her old college pals who are having their own relationship troubles. Kate's romances don't seem to get very far thanks to her boyfriends' wives. Josh is having a sexual identity crisis.

Then there's the other new flatmate: Addison. He's practically a recluse, never even leaving his room for food.

Holly finds him intriguing. She immediately decides she'll be the one to win his love by breaking Addison out of his self-constructed shell.

In the meantime, she keeps busy with a fight, job change and even a rendezvous with another man. But a lifetime with Addison is still her number one goal.

Just when Holly thinks she's ready to win the big game and steal Addison's heart, fate throws an unexpected curve ball into the mix. That's when she realizes dating can be hazardous to your health.

Jenny Colgan's romantic comedy will have you laughing out loud throughout your reading. The chaos surrounding these characters and their adventures in the dating world make this book a light-hearted, humorous read. "Talking to Addison" is best enjoyed by readers who aren't sensitive to profanity. Colgan even writes a sweet dedication to her father, apologizing for "all the swearing."

Summary: Can a freelance florist find her man?
Review: This is another in the recent series of British imports into the "Chick Lit" genre. It is a good follow up to Jenny Colgan's, "Amanda's Wedding". While it was not as good as the first one it is still a very run read/listen. I listened to the unabridged version and enjoyed it considerably.

Holly has moved into the "coffin" that is a spare room in her friends flat as she has just found out her latest flat mates are psycho about cleaning. There are 2 other flat mates that also live there a friend from college (ok so it is Josh's friend) and someone that she was friends with in college, if you don't mention poptarts that is. Then there is Addison he computer recluse. No one ever sees him. Then one night Holly decides to say hi and finds out he is gorgeous. She decides that she is going to marry him. Well that is part of the fun to the story you will also meet he "Geek", the computer girlfriend, watch Jason figure out if he is straight or gay and watch Kate take on just about everyone.

All of the characters are well developed and I love how Holly takes one quick thing and decides a whole scenario of what is going to happen next. I kept mentally hearing a record come to a screeching halt as you hear her thoughts come to an abrupt stop as you see what reality is.

Even the tragedy that befalls Addison makes you laugh at parts, as well as feel sorry for Holly. Great entertainment.

If you want a good entertaining story that has romantic overtones (but not that steamy sex of romances) this is the book for you!

Summary: Not nearly as good as I hoped
Review: This was not nearly as good as Amanda's Wedding. It was rather disappointing, but I kept reading in the hopes that something good would come. It was a little funny here and there, but not laugh out loud funny like Amanda's Wedding.

Summary: Big Let Down
Review: What can I say? I never even bothered to finish it...

This book was a big disappointment, as I expected better from Jenny Colgan. Amanda's Wedding was funny, gripping, had loveable characters...but I just don't know what happened in Talking to Addison.

This book was just so boring!!! The plot was sluggish, the characters were under developed and, frankly, odd and unrealistic.

Not once did I laugh...This book wasn't 'fluffy'....no, this book was just pointless.

This book is not worth the buy or the read. Pick up Amanda's Wedding instead.
