Rating: Summary: A must-read for animal lovers Review: A book that reads like the script of a soap opera, it is written in a narrative style peppered with many conversations. The book flashes between different scenes, each focusing on the thoughts and actions of the people in Little River Bend, the British Columbia town in which this story revolves around. The downside of this novel is that it can get arduously long at times, the story moving without a sense of direction and focusing on the unimportant aspects of the people's daily lives, just as waking up and eating breakfast. It is also felt that the author did not deal adequately with Micheal's mental breakdown; the reasons given sometimes read like a lame excuse. Jamie's refusal to speak also seems unbelievable. All in all, the author just only skim the surface and did not probe deeper into the characters' inner beings, leaving the readers thirsty for more. The upside of this novel is definitely that of the snow falcon. The author's descriptions of the falcon flying and soaring in the air and the surrounding landscape were lyrical and beautiful. The relationship between Micheal and Cully gives an interesting perspective into the communication and understanding between man and beast and furthermore, it is very touching. Readers were also given a peep into the world of falconry and introduced to the jargon used. To summarise, this book is good for light reading and a must-read for all animal lovers; it will jolt the tears out of them.
Rating: Summary: Absolutely enchanting! Review: Does your soul need an uplift? Do I have the book for you!. The Snow Falcon is a soaring adventure bursting with spirit. Just what the doctor ordered, this enchanting tale, whose author's command of language is sensuously poetic, reminds the reader of life's important lessons (e.g., love, relationships and redemption), lessons that will pleasantly linger in the minds of readers long after the last pages are turned.
Rating: Summary: Best book of the summer! Review: Every now and then a book you have not heard much about comes into your hands and just surprises you with a flavor of excitement and the romance of nature and life. This author shows us how a man can structure his life around and with nature, in a world that is not always friendly.
Rating: Summary: Great first novel - Love, bigotry, great characters Review: Harrisons first published novel shows his mastery of the style established in The Horse Whisperer, The Loop, and Firebird. This novel is stronger and flows well with unpredictable twists and turns. Not difficult to understand but sufficiently deep to make you want to get to the last page quickly. A love interest, small town bigotry, the wounded falcon all contribute to a well measured piece. I loved it as I loved The Horse Whisperer, and The Loop In its way it it was better than these two
Rating: Summary: totally captivating Review: I became obsorbed with this book on the first page, and my interest stayed until the last page. I felt like I was there training the Falcon. My heart raced at the thougth of her being released. Each time she came back I felt a rush of excitment. I could feel her sitting on my own wrist. A great read for everyone. Can't wait for Stuart's next novel.
Rating: Summary: Simulteneously solves all characters' problems Review: I found it interesting how the author pulled together all the characters and simulteneously solved all their problems. I am, however, confused why the author chose to present Michael as a convicted murder, released from prison only after a few years sentense. Not only was he a convicted murder, but was at a point where he might have easily killed his wife and daughter. Yet, 3 women in the story, including his wife, forgave him for this crime. I could not follow how they justified this.
Rating: Summary: I found this book to be excellent, uplifting and educational Review: I found the book to be an excellent example of how a brokan bird can help heal a brokan soul. I loved it..

Rating: Summary: Beautifully written Review: I just finished reading the novel "Snow Falcon" and I am in awe. Stuart Harrison is an artist with words. I didn't want the novel to end--it was an amazing story--it evoked all kinds of emotions and left me feeling blessed at the end. I can hardly wait for him to write more.
