Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: At last! Jude Deveraux returns to historical romance! Review: As much as I enjoy time travel or paranormal romances (if you haven't read _A Knight in Shining Armor_ or _Remembrance_, do so ASAP!), I'm so glad to see Jude Deveraux return to what, in my opinion, she does best...historical romances! _Temptation_ is WONDERFUL, with a great heroine who is far more modern than the early 1900's time period would suggest. If I had to pick one thing that I would have changed, I'd say the ending was a bit too brief, but nevertheless it was still satisfying and ultimately true to the characters. No matter, I remain a huge Deveraux fan, and I would wholeheartedly recommend this book! One more thought: I definitely agree with one of the previous reviewers who called for a book about Ramsey and Alys...they certainly deserve their own story!
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: I loved it! Review: I loved the story of Temperance and James McCairn. I loved the changes Temperance brought to the Laird. The ending was too brief. I was disappointed in that respect. Now I would like to hear the story of Ramsey and Alys.

I never liked 14&15th century English romances until you made them fun. I did not think you could make the 1900's sing but you did. A romance novel where the girl gets to be a carear women,a mother and have the man falling on his knees in love with you. Hurray I hope your other stories into this era are as great.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: Temptation by Jude Deveraux Review: PUBLISHER: Simon & SchusterDo you like a good romance? How about a Scottish brogue or maybe a woman ahead of her time? With Temptation, you will get all three. Temperance O'Neil is a young woman who believes women need a way to provide for themselves rather than relying on a man. Unfortunately, her mother remarries Angus McCairn who believes women need to be taken care of and provided for by a man. To make things worse, this man expects Temperance and her mother to go with him to live in Scotland. After resettling in Scotland, Temperance becomes the model daughter and drives Angus crazy with her do-good works. To get her out of his house, Angus makes a deal with her - become a housekeeper to his nephew, James, and find him a wife. If she does so, Angus will allow her to return to New York and continue her work with under privileged women. The tale that follows is only one that Jude Deveraux can tell and she tells it very well. Don't miss this tale of romance and history. It is a story you won't want to put down until the very last word is read. I rated this book as a 10.
Rating: ![1 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-1-0.gif) Summary: Don't Bother Review: It has been a very long time since I have picked up a book this patently horrible. Jude Deveraux has always been hit or miss to me...Mountain Laurel wasn't very good, yet Knight in Shining Aromor and Sweet Liar were truly wonderful. The characters in Temptation characters are terribly drawn, and not particularly likable, the scenes themselves are unbelievable. I laughed out loud several times, but not for the reason the author should have wanted. James falling to the floor with the ring to propose in the end was hysterical in how it was pathetic and not believable. I just can't get over how bad this book was.
Rating: ![2 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-2-0.gif) Summary: Temptation Review: I was extremely disappointed in Jude's most recent endeavor, I should have borrowed it not bought it. The characters and story where flat, boring and self-centered. Over the last few years the author's quality of story telling has declined, the last really good book by her was Sweet Liar. However, I did buy this book because she seemed to have recaptured some of her wonderful ability in High Tide and I had hoped that the trend would continue. I'll read the next one out, but I'll wait to borrow it or buy it at tag sale.
Rating: ![3 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-3-0.gif) Summary: Gettng Back on Track Review: .... Ms. Deveraux's last few books have not been up to her usual standard. Sweet Liar was the last book she wrote that I actually bought. Since then I've relied on library copies. High Tide showed she was heading back toward her usual standard, and Temptation is another step forward. She's not quite there, though. If you are a Deveraux fan, you will recognize the style and enjoy the book (except the ending, which makes me wonder if she just go tired of writing it and quit). However, if you have never read a Deveraux book before, don't judge all her work on this one. She's capable of much better.
Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Finally! Review: Jude Deveraux has always been an autobuy for me since I opened the cover of Black Lyon so many years ago. Unfortunately in the past few years there have been times when I felt I wasted more than a few dollars on her hardcover releases. Not so with Temptation! She has finally gotten back to where her writing style should be and I couldn't be happier! Temptation was hysterical! Temperance O'Neil is a heroine that someone could look up to. She is accomplished, she has both beauty and brains and she has faults, not to mention a devious mind - something anyone can admire! James McCairn is a hero you want to love and hit at the same time! His resistance and final acceptance of his "housekeeper" is a joy to watch and some of the scenes that these two share have you laughing one minute and crying the next. The secondary characters are vital to the story and are a wonderful addition. The story is just as it should be: A Jude Deveraux masterpiece!
Rating: ![2 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-2-0.gif) Summary: What happened to the ending? Review: I enjoyed this book up to the last section. The sudden resolution left me very disappointed, it was not even remotely believable. The ending was such a disappointed that I would advise others wait for the paperback - or even wait until your library has it, but don't pay for the hardback.
Rating: ![5 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-5-0.gif) Summary: WOW! I really loved this book.... Review: After the last Deveraux novel, _High Tide_, I thought the author might have been losing her touch. That is definitely not the case. _Temptation_ might be my new favorite. I won't summarize the plot; you can read the Amazon review for that. But while this book may have the weak spots(the roller skating scene),and cliched scenes (delivering a baby lamb) you might expect in a romance novel it also has something you might not expect - a truly modern, independent, liberated woman who learns something about herself. Temperence's and James' transformations are completely believable and honest, as is their attraction for one another. It's obvious to the reader that they should end up together, but both of them have a lot to learn about love and trust. This book isn't as serious as I'm making it sound - the dialog is always amusing and often laugh out loud funny. But there's substance too. Read this book!
