Summary: PREDICTABLE
Review: I read the reviews and thought I would take the intial plunge with my first Nora Roberts book. I was very disappointed. I knew the killer and the motive by the second chapter. The plot was predictable, the dialogue was predictable, the sex was predictable and the ending was predictable. Overall, I regret the purchase.

Summary: Great Characters! Great Plot! Great Location! Great Read!
Review: My first Nora Roberts book - I'm hooked! The rich and detailed rain forest location in Washington State makes for a pleasant change. I felt as if I were walking the trails right along with Livvy and Noah! Livvy, Noah and all the rest are given an in-depth character description which makes them all the more realistic. While Olivia comes across as a difficult character at times, this is obviously due to the trauma she experienced as a child and the over-protective environment she was placed in by her grandparents. Noah has more than great patience in biding his time for her to come around. This was an enjoyable read and comes highly recommended! I can't wait to read all the rest of her books!

Summary: Thank you Nora Roberts!!
Review: I have been reading Ms. Roberts for many years and it has been awesome to see her developement as an artist. This book was wonderful. Definitely one of her best. It grabs you from the prologue and keeps you interested through the final pages. I read this book in one sitting. The descriptive language is beautiful, it really pulls you into the setting. I think this books appeal excedes just the traditional "Romatic Fiction" genre, and will really be enjoyed by "Mystery & Suspense" fans too!

Summary: Same Formula as "Private Scandals"
Review: As much as I love Ms. Roberts' writing, I must say that this is not her best effort. After I went through the first few chapters I had this nagging feeling that I have read this story before--and I have. The story line is almost exactly like her earlier book "Private Scandals".

Overall, I did enjoy the book. I just wish that she had come out with something brand new, not a recycling of her old stories.

I highly recommend "Private Scandals" over this book (it's paperback so it's cheaper too). The characters and the plotline is ten times more interesting.

Summary: Great Read
Review: Wow! I couldn't put this book down at all. The mystery of who murdered Olivia's mother had me stumped up until the end of the book! Definately a must read.

Summary: Once again...
Review: Nora Roberts delivers a great book with interesting characters who the reader cares about. As always, I was not disappointed!!!

Summary: Been there, read that.
Review: Nora, throw all these same old plots out and get some new ones. You're better than this book. Or the last couple of books, for that matter.

Summary: Tedious and mildly entertaining.
Review: I have read almost all of this author's books and was excited to order her latest work. However, I was extremely disappointed. It took me a long time to mull through all the forest descriptions -- a very tedious process. In addition, the hostile nature of the main character, Olivia, did not have me empathizing with her. Also, it was easy for me to figure out within the first chapter who the killer was and even why it happened! I hate that! I want to be intrigued and challenged, yet this was so glaringly apparent from the outset. Also, there were many grammatical and technical errors in the book which were distracting. Ms. Roberts needs to get herself a better editor.

Summary: Nora does it again!
Review: Nora Roberts has written another exceptional book, River's End. Although like others, I "guessed" whodunnit, near the end I started to question myself. I totally freaked out at the end, it was one of the best ever! I love how Nora makes her books with many characters that are 3 dimensional. They are all given qualities that tie families and situations together. And after reading this book, I long to visit the Olympia Mountains. Whenever I read Nora, I simply cannot stop until I'm finished. This has been true of every single book she's ever written, including River's End. I wish for her at LEAST another 128 books.

Summary: One of my favorite stories written by Nora
Review: I took a whirl through the "reviews" and wonder, too, if we all read the same book. Quick comment about the so-called grammar errors--did you read the hardback or an advanced reading copy? I've read both. In the ARC, there were tons of mistakes. Since it's not a finished draft, it's allowable. <g> In the hardcover, I didn't see all of the errors that a few of you so lovingly pointed out (I wonder if it's the infamous "screenwriters" from AOL who wrote those "reviews"). Since I'm a former English teacher, these usually jump out at me. Feel free to e-mail me if you come back & glance at the reviews to correct me with the errors of my way. Speaking of which ... in River's End, the language caught me and swept me away. I read for entertainment--to be able to lose myself in a story. River's End accomplished that goal. The beginning had the horrific murder of Olivia's mother, actress Julie MacBride. Olivia, her daughter, came upon the murder scene and witnessed her father (actor Sam Tanner) standing over Julie's slashed body, scissors in hand. To protect Olivia (and themselves), her grandparents took her back to Washington State, to River's End, a lodge & campground at the edge of the Olympia Rain Forest. The story then goes on--with the dysfunctional MacBride family encountering the seemingly "together" Brady family. Olivia, Noah, and his parents were characters that I came to care about--a lot. I loved their interaction with one another. I loved the sense of growth w/in Olivia as the story progressed. I also appreciate how Nora wrote of the Olympic Rain Forest. She made it come alive for me. Made it become a place I'd love to visit some day soon. While I intuitively knew who the killer was before the end of the story, I felt that there were just enough red herrings tossed my way to give me reasonable doubt. In any case, no one does relationships & feelings better between characters than Nora Roberts. River's End will remain high up on my list of favorite stories written by her.
