Review: A detailed review of the American religious scene in the mid 20th Century. From a Lutheran perspective, this books offers history and theological reviews of major denominational groups and identifies the principles that guide the thinking of those groups (Roman Catholic, Lutheran, Orthodox and the sub-categories of Reformed Christianity as well as other groups such as Christian Science). While much of the information is dated, the summaries of religious strands of thinking are current and this is an effective survey of American religion as seen by a Lutheran.
