Rating: Summary: Absolutely powerful!!! Review: I'm so glad I didn't read the editorial review before I read any of Foster's books. I have read Ain't No River, Passing By Samaria and Riding Through Shadows. I absolutely loved Riding Through Shadows. It has a powerful message about spiritual warfare and reminds Christians that this is for real!!!. It reminded me I needed to be constant prayer, can't afford to slip up. It also reminded me of how important it is I pray for my own child. Just think of how close we've come to our breakthrough and we slacked up in the area of prayer and satan was allowed to have control in areas where he has no dominion- keep praying and God's army will do the rest. Foster took a bold step in reminding me and other readers of all of these things. I couldn't put the book down and highly recommend all her books. In fact, I'm buying my best friend all three books. Can't wait to read more from this author.
Rating: Summary: A Tale of Spiritual Warfare . . . Review: Sharon Ewell Foster outdoes herself in Riding Through Shadows! Ms. Foster depicts the warfare that goes on in the spiritual realm, as the enemy of our souls attempts to thwart our God given purpose at a young age. Although the enemy knows that he's no match for Almighty God, he tries, to no avail, to steal that which does not belong to him . . . This story puts into proper "Kingdom" perspective, the external workings of the enemy through social and familial circumstances to "kill, steal and destroy".One must read this book by the will of the Spirit in order to discern what's really happening because to the carnal mind, it's foolishness! I cannot wait to read the upcoming continuation of Shirley's story. Write on, Sister Foster!
Rating: Summary: Sometimes Good, Sometimes Bad Review: The underlying story in this book, is one of great interest. I was truly anxious and excited to finish the book to see how Shirleys life turns out, hoping she makes it through. But I do agree for the most part with the editorial review. For the few moments of great writing there are more moments of confusion, overdoing and dragging out certain scenes. The first half read much better than the second half. I do understand that this is a Christian book, though when I picked it up at the library and read the back it didn't come across as that and I therefore found myself a bit surprised at the religious ferocity of the writing. I will be picking up the second book, just because I am interested in seeing how the story turns out. I will wade through the thick and sometimes overpowering verbage to hear the end of the story.
Rating: Summary: Looking For More Review: This book is just as good as Sharon Ewell Foster's other two books. I liked how it gives you a look into the spiritual world. It shows how spiritual warfare is going on in the heavenlies as a result of our prayers. This book encourages us to never give up on God and prayer. I look forward to many more books from this author.
