Rating: Summary: That book was hard to put down! Review: Lorraine Dopson obviously knows her subject, that with a great writing style made this book a fabulous read for me. I couldn't put it down, wanted to see what was around the next corner for Thistle. The characters were wonderful, alive and real - they stayed with me long after I finished reading. Lorraine Dopson has laid out a fantastic story of a long ago time and made it feel like I was right there with the group, traveling, fixing a meal, enjoying each other and the world around them. I commend the author and eagerly await her next story.
Rating: Summary: This is a wonderful book ! Review: Lorraine Dopson's "The Light at the End of the World" is a great work of fiction. I believe that some day it will become a classic in women's literature. The dialogue is engaging and it is hard to put the book down. The book is well researched and shows a great deal of insight into human nature, as one might expect from a writer with a PhD in counseling and guidance. The story takes place 12,000 years ago at the end of the last ice age. I highly commend Dr Dopson in choosing not to dumb down the dialogue. This book presents a fascinating view of a world before patriarchy. It is a spiritual book that is devoid of dogmatic religion. The characters are colorful, the storyline is engaging, the drawings by the author are excellent, and the print is easy to read. I would recommend this book to anyone
Rating: Summary: Exquisite storytelling Review: Storytellers are rare, skilled storytellers even more so. Lorraine Dopson is one of those rare skilled storytellers who can weave a story that one doesn't want to end. Dr. Dopson not only has a keen insight into her material but she has a unique ability to maintain the voices of characters throughout the story. This is especially noteworthy considering the characters are from 10,000 years ago. This book should have a sequel.
Rating: Summary: EXCELLENT BOOK Review: This is a wonderful, welll-written story. As a result of her extensive scientific research, astute interpretation of legends and her understanding of the human consciousness in the late Paleolithic Dr. Dopson offers a detailed portrayal of life in Europe as it probably was before the catastrophe of about 10,000 B.C. I highly recommend "The Light at the End of the World" for it will appeal to readers on many levels. Shirley Andrews is the author of "Atlantis: Insights From a Lost Civilization" and "Lemuria and Atlantis: Studying the Past to Survive the Future."
