Rating: ![4 stars](http://www.reviewfocus.com/images/stars-4-0.gif) Summary: Trinitarian Oriented Christian Theology Review: This book is a pretty good outline of Christian theology written from a Trinitarian perspective. Gunton deals with the typical topics of systematic theology (however, unlike most systematic theologies, Gunton starts with the doctrine of creation and ends with the doctrine of the Trinity). Gunton's approach is moderate evangelical (he concedes to the idea of evolutionary creationism over fiat creationism). The book is very good for college or seminary level courses. However, Gunton uses "English" English and may make North American readers read the same sentence twice before getting the gist of what he is saying. The focus of the book is communal-oriented Christianity while not departing significantly from traditional Christian doctrines. I would balance this book off with a more conservative systematic theology like Millard Erickson's "Introducing Christian Doctrine" (a condensed version of his "Christian Theology"). Overall, a good and stimulating read.
