Summary: The restoration of truly-human values and genuine good sense
Review: As a long-time student of Carlo Suares' great work, I must add these few words to the reviews for "THE CIPHER OF GENESIS".

One reviewer writes, "This book is not for the faint of heart". Neither is "real life" or "real truth" for the faint of heart, believe me. But for the western student who has looked responsibly to the east (or elsewhere), for those with genuine but immature insight which can find no fulfillment, for those who have begun to "know" intuitively but cannot define that knowing, for those who seriously wish to realize their potential as human beings, for those who are rightfully "troubled" by what passes almost universally as "truth", this IS the most important book ever written. Penetrating the original code just a little (and Suares does that for us) is the ultimate defining, freeing, jaw-dropping experience. Both the individual and the world are saved in that one gesture, in that one, universe-shattering moment.

Look further. Here - with persistence - are the answers for which all serious students have struggled. I said, "....with persistence". And do not expect to be let off the proverbial "responsibility hook". To the contrary!

Further, Suares does not "tell you something" and ask you to "believe" it. No, he simply becomes the voice of your deeper knowing, eloquently revealing what you will recognize as already quite obvious. "There is one truth. Sages call it by various names." Here is that one truth defined and illuminated as the Hebrew Revelation, then as the real life and real sacrifice of Reb YHSHWH, all of it revealed. Still further, the Hebrew suddenly becomes the Buddhist and the Hindu, etc., in their purist, germinal expressions. Study this book, then weep for what "religion" - and predictably the world - have become.

A NOTE OF WARNING: As with every "revelation", Qabala has been trivialized, reduced, qualified, colored, commercialized, adapted to the ordinary mind. (There are many currently-popular versions of "the code". There is even "a church". BE CAREFUL AT EVERY STEP!) Suares' work does not suffer from that insidious disease. His Qabala survives triumphantly to restore and precisely define the germinal source from which the lesser revelations arise and back to which they should, ideally, lead us. (....unless they are first co-opted, as always, by one or another of self-interested, sub-human entities.)

Buy two copies of this book, one to preserve in a vault for posterity, for the sake of life and truth, and for the world, the other to cherish as your primary source of strength and commitment in a world gone mad with trivialized, comic book religion.

YES, HERE IT IS! THIS IS WHAT YOU'VE BEEN LOOKING FOR

Summary: A brilliant, luminous book
Review: One cannot "read" this book, as one reads a novel or a newspaper. This book is really a kind of poem. It was meant to be approached meditatively, where each sentence is allowed to germinate and then explode within the soul. It is a rare and brilliant gem, an altogether novel and luminously mature approach to the presentation of kabbalah and religion.

Summary: The poetry of the Hebrew language: Images and numbers
Review: Suares first caught my attention in his analysis of the Sefir Yetsira, which I purchased in 1976, but could not -- or did not-- access until this past year, Sept. 1998. Suares uses the symbolism of numbers in the Hebrew alphabet to build metaphorical meaning into simple letters, words, and stories. To participate in the unfolding of the opening of the Book of Genesis, for example, is to taste of the essential nature of his enterprise. I have spent many many hours in a state of imaginative ecstasy and fascination as the symbolism of Cain (Qaheen) and the story of the Garden of Eden expand in my mind. The experience of this book and the Sefir Yetsira transcends for me the reading of the most profound poetry: e.g. Whitman's Out of the Cradle, Eliot's Four Quartets, Wallace Stevens' Auroras of Autumn and William Butler Yeats Lapis Lazuli. As a result of Suares' works,I have marked up my Strong's Hebrew dictionary and made a catalogue of my own key words and have been investigating the Hebrew letter connections with the Tarot started by The Golden Dawn. Moreover, I have begun to come to terms with the holocaust as part of the unfoldment of the mystery of life. Even Camus' Plague makes actual religious sense -- not as God's punishment, but as the discovery of the role of resistance in our spiritual growth. (I trivialize by trying to explain.) I only wish that I could have access to a person as conversant with this wing of Qabbalistic study as Suares was.

Summary: Cypher of Genesis
Review: This book is a very tough read without first having an understanding of hebrew, qabala and gematria or numerology. The "revolutionary" concepts may be clear to the author, but his interpretation to the uninitiated falls well short of complete comprehension.

Summary: The Bible is written in code!
Review: Whether you understand it, or not, this is probably the most important book you will ever read. If you allow yourself to enter into the revelation presented by Carlos Suares in _Cipher of Genesis_, your world will be turned upside-down and your belief-systems and myths will either run crying into the darkness or will dissolve and let in the rainbow.

"The keys have already been given."

What if someone said to you, "look, let me show you something, here, in the most important Book in the whole Western tradition, right at the beginning where it could never be missed, see, look at these letters?" "They are in code."

There is a hidden message encoded into the beginning of the Bible, that will break your universe wide open.

Now, what do you do?

For less than the effort to learn how to ballroom dance or play bad guitar or read a few Stephen King novels, you can test the truth of this unbelievable proposition --

the Bible is written in code

-- and find out for yourself.

"Oh, and it's the code to unlock your Self."

Suares' work at the end of this century will eventually be recognized as not just revolutionary, but truely epochal in signaling a transformation at the core of human consciousness and psychological development.

The _Cipher of Genesis_ is Suares' gateway to the Revived Qabala, defined in terms appropriate for our times as the science of the structure of energy. "A completely generalized, semantically-correct language dealing with biologically-structured energies in different states of organization."

What you will need:

a careful reading of this book, and a Hebrew Bible or interlinear translation of Genesis. 5-10 hours of serious study to prepare the soil and plant the seed which will then either live or die.
